As one year closes and another one lingers on the horizon, now is a good time to sit back and think about everything that's happened in the year before. A local newspaper is running a seasonal section asking for your most memorable moment in Destiny City. This year, last year, fifty years ago--what was your more memorable? It doesn't seem like this is very competitive; they seem to be printing random suggestions. Maybe your contribution will get printed! If you feel like writing, at least. You can always sit around and reminisce--or just read some of what others are sharing.

Caely breathed out a sigh. "Thank you, Lord," she said out loud in the empty apartment she was seated in, having beaten Elysha home since her cousin was likely just getting off of work right now.

Today was a memorable day. She attempted to think of something else for a change of pace as a little breather to an extent rather than replay yet again the mysterious event she had just returned from and had already replayed a handful of times on the way home in her mind.

She read the news article in front of her in an endeavor to do so. Instead, a small smile tugged at her lips as she thought the memory on her mind right now was one she's decidedly not seeking to publish. And, thus, said memory ran through her mind again.

Usually Aptera was more readily apprehensive about running into magical threats when she went patrolling known and unknown areas of Destiny City. However, today held a reminder for her. She could also run into civilian criminal activity while out on patrol.

This area she found herself in looked to be a well-to-do neighborhood with a wide street lined by parallels parked cars and homes decorated for the season here and there.

At present, she was peering out from tree branches across the fairly silent street that thus allowed for ease in eavesdropping the sounds currently resounding through the immediate vicinity quite audibly. She had seen several window curtains move so far, with more perplexed curiosity at first but as the seconds ticked by the glances became more secretive and out of watchful fear she reckoned. She suspected authorities will be arriving, sooner rather than later she prayed hopefully. So, she needn't get herself involved because in just a matter of time this situation will reach a resolution with the help of peacekeeping personnel.

A whistle was followed up with a statement, "You said no one's in the house, right? Tch, too bad we won't see any waterworks. How much can we get for this?"

"So, mission accomplished, right? Let's get the *** out of here," chuckled another member of the gathered group, "Or, are you really going to swing that around for bigger exterior damages?"

"Wait, actually, I have a better idea," the lone girl in the group armed with a baseball bat pulled a knife out of her pocket. What was going on here? Is this some kind of hate crime or maybe a sort of complicated feud?

As she brandished the blade with a malicous grin, she was in the process of taking steps towards and crouching beside one of the vehicle's tires when laughter she had prompted was punctuated with a bark of amusement, "Stabbing the tires?!"

"Shut up," the girl laughed in kind while her own response clearly rang out, "you're *** loud."

Aptera was in motion at the sight of the girl moving with the blade, even before the bark of amusement confirmed her consideration.

"Oh ***?!"

The sound of the exclaimed reaction that went with the finger pointed at her caused Aptera to pause in clearer realization that she did in fact jumped out onto the street. Then, she pressed on, "What are you doing?"

There was momentary silence in reply.

Aptera added, "If the car ends up being driven despite stabbed tires, it could cause more serious consequ -"

"Shut the *** up, ***," the girl cried out as she hastily readied her arm for her throw.

Aptera tensed further, wondering frantically for more exactness in her mind how she had recklessly placed herself in this predicament. However, a louder call seemed to fill her thoughts until she managed to get herself to struggle out of her mental reeling and act on it.

With a lunge punch, a magic circle appeared. Then, with the reverse punch that immediately followed, Aptera summoned a barrier that sent the thrown knife clattering to the ground.

"The - ?!" The sounds of sirens and yells suddenly began to fill the air.

Though taken aback by what had just transpired, Aptera was able to leap away in the heighten confusion to put distance between herself and the scene of the crime by traversing over rooftops as her mind was freely and urgently filled with prayer that mingled with swirling thoughts and questions.
