Quote:
Destiny City has had a few experiences with snow so far, but no one can argue that this most recent snow is the best for building snowmen. It's on a weekend, and the weather is just perfect. Many have dubbed today the city's unofficial 'Build a Snowman Day'. Snowman, snow sculpture, snow angel--whatever you want to make, have fun with it! Young or old, take some time to appreciate the little things and connect with some good old, basic, winter fun!

Jack enjoyed his time to himself, but as an only child, he got bored a lot. That meant he was often out of the house looking for things to do and people to talk to. Once he'd awoken as a Dark Mirror Senshi, of course that meant more time out of the house powered up, but there still wasn't much to do other than collect energy since he wasn't confident in his youma-fighting skills just yet. His particular magic wasn't exactly useful in combat situations and he had never really been a fighter himself.

On a day like this, though, Sinope wondered if his heightened abilities as a senshi would give him an advantage when it came to snowball fights. He bundled himself up in layers over his sailor scout uniform and went out to join the neighborhood kids in their pretend battle. It turned out he could make snowballs faster and dodge them better than anyone else until pretty soon he was the champion on his side. Of course if someone else had realized the reason behind his snowball-fighting prowess, they might have called it cheating, but the way Sinope saw it, there weren't any rules against being powered up for a snowball fight. It wasn't his fault no one else around had the ability to oppose him.

Remus definitely thought being powered and entering a snowball fight was cheating, because heightened abilities meant that one had an advantage; but he also would have shamelessly used that advantage if it meant winning a snowball fight against Sessrumnir or Oberon or even Sedna.

As it was, he'd been powered up in order to go patrolling, but now he was meandering over to the fight happening because there was another powered signature, and he wasn't sure why they were over there in the first place. Civilians were around, after all, but maybe no one would notice.

Or maybe they'd just be screwed who knew. Sessrumnir would have called it reckless, but that was beside the point.

A snowball flew from the top of the tree, aimed at the guy's head. Remus was perched in the branches of a nearby tree, for once grateful for his many layered, caped uniform that actually made it not so bad to be out in the cold.

"Hey. What are you doing?"

As Sinope had become pretty smug and confident in his role as snowball fight champion, he hadn't expected anyone else to continue fighting back against him, least of all with a projectile fired from so high up. The snowball hit its target. "Ow! What the - ?!" He'd thought that most of the other kids he'd been battling with had gone home already in defeat, but it seemed there were still a few left.

When he tried to locate the origin of the snowball that had hit him, however, the Dark Mirror Senshi realized that it wasn't just an ordinary neighborhood kid he had as an opponent. No wonder the projectile had come from so high up; he could feel an Order senshi's energy signature emanating from a nearby tree. It was more powerful than his, too. A higher level one?

"What kind of soldier announces his presence with a snowball aimed at someone's head and follows it with a question as innocent as that?" Sinope demanded, though he couldn't help grinning a bit. Even if this guy was more powerful than him, if he was attacking with snowballs, the younger senshi doubted he meant to cause any serious harm.

Remus lifted one shoulder in a sort of lazy, careless shrug that indicated he was probably more irreverent than a lot of his senshi comrades. "What kind of person powers up to go to a snowball fight?" he asked blithely. "There are all sorts around these days, one could say."

He shifted, swinging his legs over the branch and sat on it so that they dangled over the side. Remus's eyes flickered over the uniform - not quite like his own, more black than white, and a lesser power signature that indicated that this guy was probably weaker than he was. It made him feel a little smug about it, Remus's lips curving up into a smirk.

"You're not a senshi. What are you?"

"A clever one who knows how to use his resources, duh," Sinope laughed, amused by Remus' answering a question with a question of his own. "But I guess you're right. Haven't really anyone who throws snowballs from trees before."

The remark from his opponent caused his jaw to drop. "Not a - ?! What the hell's that supposed to mean?" Up until that point, he had tried to refrain from using any particular terms that a civilian might have overheard and wondered about, but since this guy was yelling out stuff like 'powers up', he figured there probably wasn't much point anymore. If anyone was watching or listening, he could chalk it up to them playing army men or super heroes or something.

With a twenty-something-year-old up a tree. Sure. Whatever; he'd deal with it if he needed to.

He stood straighter and jabbed a thumb at his chest. "I am too a senshi! My name's Sailor Sinope, and I'm the Dark Mirror Senshi of Slyness! How about you, Tarzan? Are you even a real senshi?"

He couldn't help but roll his eyes, though Remus was faintly amused by the reply. He himself wouldn't have been so obvious about powering up, especially when there were other people around, but he supposed not everyone felt the same. Maybe this guy was just good at concealing.

Or maybe he was new. That was always an option.

Remus was unrepentant about his not a senshi analysis, swinging his legs carelessly along the branch. Almost everyone had dissipated now; the only people still milling about were a few school children, but they were far enough away that they wouldn't be overheard, which Remus appreciated.

A grin spread across his face, wild and bright and mischievous. He reached a gloved hand up to the branch above his head and hauled himself up to stand instead, draping a lazy arm over a branch to steady himself, the other hand on his hip.

"Your uniform's different, it's black," he pointed out. "So not a senshi. Or I mean, I guess if you wanna call yourself one..."

The grin took a sharper edge.

"I'm Super Sailor Remus," he said. "Of Regolith. Pleased to make your acquaintance."

Since Sinope wasn't as high up as Remus, he couldn't see as much of his surroundings, but he assumed from the other senshi's behavior that there were few or no civilians left in the area to wonder about their words.

The grin from the other male elicited a mirthless one from Sinope in response. "I never knew clothing mattered so much to you, Sailor Show-off," he retorted, having expected to hear a different argument like that his signature was of chaos. "If I wasn't a senshi, though, then I wouldn't be able to use senshi magic, would I?" Hazel eyes narrowed as they met blue. "Sly Secret Steal!"

Sinope locks eyes with his target on the battlefield and casts them a knowing grin.

Causes the target to be seized by the unshakable feeling that Sinope knows something about them they really don't want him to know (whether or not he actually knows it)

The player of the target can interpret as they see fit what their character thinks Sinope knows. Sinope does not necessarily know whatever it is, but his attack causes his target to think he does, which serves as an unnerving distraction during battle.

((Heh, not sure if you saw in the first post, Kuro, but Sinope's wore other layers of clothing over his senshi outfit before going out to play in the snow. Maybe his jacket or whatever was open, though, so that could be how Remus saw his outfit was black))

He would have guessed that the kid was several years younger than himself, maybe Peter's age - though Peter was far less snarky and far less reckless, and would never have been caught powering up just to get into a snowball fight with children.

"Oh, boy, you're one of those types," said Remus, with a heavy sigh. The magic hit him before he could turn his head away, a feeling of unsettled emotions slowly burrowing its way through him. He shifted on the branch, eyes narrowing a little, wondering what sort of upstart brat he'd managed to run into this time.

He knows.

He doesn't.

He does.

Stop it.

"You're still not a senshi," came the reply, Remus sliding from the branch and dropping to the ground. "Just so you know."

One of what types? Sinope wondered, but dared not ask aloud. He hated sounding ignorant of something, even if he wasn't meant to know or had no way of knowing it. It would have been worse in front of this particular guy who seemed to like to act like he knew everything and it was bad enough he was already a super senshi.

Still, the Dark Mirror senshi thought he saw his magic take effect and was mildly amused, even if he had no idea what his opponent was truly thinking.

"Right, right, because my outfit's black," he answered Remus, rolling his eyes as he picked up another snowball. "But it doesn't matter what I am, because I'm still gonna kick your butt!" Sinope announced as he launched his projectile. Now that Remus was on the ground, he felt he had a better chance of hitting him.
