                What are their weaknesses?
Aside from his own mortality, Adam's speed is effected by his physical condition. If his leg is broken, he is unable to run on it (however his reflexes and other enhancements would be the same, it would simply effect his mobility).

                How do they act?
Adam is playful and fun-loving. He could be described as cocky by some and arrogant by others but he is a nice guy at the core. He has a very grim opinion of the world and almost seems to hate it. He also has a habit of making sarcastic comments a jokes when speaking to others. There are times when the mask of jokes falls and shows a slightly more angry and less patient person but for the most part he manages to keep the anger inside under control.

                What's their backstory?
Born the son of acclaimed hero Minuteman, Nathaniel Curtis always thought that when he was older, he would fight crime with his father, the fastest duo in the world. It was all he ever dreamed of and aspired to do. At an early age he showed signs of powers but never the speed he needed. He could think a little faster and had a great metabolism but no super speed. Aside from those little things he seemed entirely normal and as the years of elementary, middle, and high school passed, his dreams of being a hero with his father died. But it was fine, he would take a support role. He could be his father's eyes and ears in the city. He could still fight crime, maybe become a police officer. If he couldn't be a superhero, he would be the best hero he could be. When his father revealed himself to the world, Nathaniel was elated. No more hiding the truth. Everyone knew who his father was and they knew that he was a hero. That was a blessing for him up until the third year of college. During the summer, his dreams died. Titan destroyed his father's legs. Nathaniel tried to keep his dad happy. He tried to be motivational, but the hits kept coming. Olympia left, and then it was just a boy and his dad, both who had just watched their dreams die. By the end of the year, Jack Curtis, Nathaniel's dad, had killed himself.

It was hard to go back to school but he did. He was met with ridicule, taunting, teasing, so little sympathy. People who felt bad for him were silent mostly because they didn't know what to say. Nathaniel was the son of a great hero who had just killed himself and Nathaniel had no powers of his own to make him anything more than that. Worse of all, Nathaniel was slow. Compared to the bullies and track stars, he was a snail. Until one day, he had enough. He couldn't take the ridicule anymore and he ran out of class. He ran as far and as fast as he could, and he found himself at Olympia's doorstep. He didn't know how he had gotten there, he didn't know that he had broken the sound barrier, all he knew was that he needed to see someone else who had once seen a smile on his dad's face. She wasn't home but he didn't mind. It was on the walk home that he realized how far he had gone in such a short time. He realized that he could be a superhero like his father. He could save the name Minuteman.

With his powers finally coming in, he was eager to pick up his father's work and save lives. Too eager. He took up the mantle of Minuteman II and donned a costume almost identical to his father's and then, withing a week, he was out on the street doing what he felt all heroes should. The speed was new and he was ecstatic to finally bring the name Minuteman back into a positive light. For five years he fought crime and worked to help create the SIA, but for five years, a villain plotted against him. Anyone who could move as quickly as Nathaniel could was a threat that had to be dealt with. Nathaniel began taking on cases looking at more than your average crook or robber and that was when he drew this villains attention. In the year 2001, Nathaniel Curtis tried to dismantle what Michael Forester had built.

Taking on a man who made dirty money look like clean money so easily was no simple task. He could make connections but never found evidence and in his search for evidence, he drew the attention of Michael Forester. He drew the attention of Mr. Fraus. Nathaniel found himself distracted with smaller tasks at every turn. There was always work to be done and while he was doing that work, Mr. Fraus was examining him. Testing and prodding at his powers to see their limits. When he had gathered enough information, Mr. Fraus struck and wiped Nathaniel Curtis into the grave.

It had been a simple game. Mr. Fraus baited Curtis with hostages, five scattered around the city and each with only one minute to live. Mr. Fraus knew exactly how fast Nathaniel could go, and he had set the distances carefully. Nathaniel knew it was dangerous but he didn't care, he wanted to be hero. He just wasn't fast enough. Nathaniel saved four of the five civilians but when he reached the fifth, he was unable to break the restraints in time and a bomb from beneath the chair detonated. The blast brought the building down on top of Nathaniel and the flames covered his body is second degree burns. Mr. Fraus left it at that. If Nathaniel hadn't died, he would have understood the message. When paramedics arrived they rushed Nathaniel to the hospital but the damage had been done. Head trauma had destroyed his memory and he physically would not survive the week without surgeries that he could not afford. Yet a donor paid for his operations. Skin graphs to repair his face and therapy classes to fix the muscle and nerve damage. Even after all the surgeries he was left in a coma for a year. Publicly, Minuteman II was declared dead which was only true in a metaphorical sense.

After the year passed, a man with no name and no memory woke to find himself in a place he didn't recognize surrounded by people he didn't recognize moving slower than they should have been. He would have run away if not for the restraints the mysterious donor had put on. He never met the donor, he was only told of a man who took on special cases for injured heroes. Once he was deemed fit, he was sent out onto the streets and left to fend for himself. The man took up the name of Adam Payne when he needed one. He looked for clues about his past but he had nothing more than a broken pair of goggles. The city made him selfish and without heroes to set an example Adam did not feel the pull towards justice. As his life became more difficult he became more cynical. He had nothing, not even his real name, and he had been cast out onto the street. With the powers he discovered he began stealing what he wanted. He began making a name for himself as a villain and adopted the name Tachyon. A tachyon was a hypothetical particle that moves faster than light so he thought the name fit. These days he lives in an apartment in Chicago. He still robs the occasional bank but most of his money comes from gambling or bounty hunting.
