Personality

[✔] brave - Nikita is not one to shy away from something scary. Some might even call her stupidly brave. She'd stare down the barrel of a gun and think only of how to subdue her attacker.

[✔] cheerful - There is hardly a thing that keeps Nikita down. Even when her father died she still was able to get right back to it.

[✔] compassionate - Nikita can sometimes come off as only caring about herself or her family, but she does feel the pliet of the less fortunate. She actually would never hurt anyone that can't defend themselves and doesn't allow her family to bully those already down. Nikita donates what she can when she can.

[✔] loyal - If you are a part of her father's gang, then you are Nikita's family. No ifs ands or buts. She would die for her family and anyone else she cares about.

[✘] cunning - Nikita and her underlings percieve this as a possitive thing, but most on the other side would belive this is negative. Nikita could easily convince a poor man of his coat despite having one on herself.

[✘] impulsive - Nikita will do many a thing without thinking. Or, if she does think, it'll be only to determine that her first thought was the best.

[✘] self-indulgent - She is not ashamed of enjoying the things she likes. If Nikita sees someone cute, she will become obsessed with hanging out with them. If she wants a cake, she'll get herself cake. There is no denying herself.

[✘] belligerent - While this trait is not a big concern, when it comes to matters of her father's gang, Nikita will defend her family or her posessions with fire if need be. She is the fight first ask questions later type.

Hobbies

[❥] cutie scoping - Nikita is a super fan of anything/one cute. She likes to spend free days hanging out in busy areas just watching the cuties go about their day.

[❥] spars/fights - Growing up, Nikita was forced to take self defence classes. She has since taken it to an extreme and occasionally goes looking for a fight. She tries not to be a bad guy, though, and only attacks to defend others.

[❥] baking - With a practically ever-present sweet-tooth, Nikita had to learn a way to make sure her cravings would be satisified. She is best at making cookies but can whip up a decent cake if it's someone's birthday.

Backstory
Nikita was a Cache orphan that was adopted by an older Imp who wanted desperately to have someone to pass his business on to. He looked through the stones and found his eyes drawn to the red one. Red like passion. Red like strength. Red like blood. That one would do perfectly.

When Nikita awakened her father was excited. His house was fully prepared to welcome this child who would be raised with so much love. Nikita never wanted for affection as even when her father was busy with his shop, she had plenty of family to take care of her.

It never once occured to Nikita that not a single one of her family members looked like her father or herself. There were so many races present that she didn't even give her own race any contemplation. She was a child of the world. Nikita loved her family with all her heart.

When she went to the Academy the young grimm was full of homesickness. It took a few weeks for her to get used to going to school during the day instead of hanging out with her family or in her father's shop. Nikita soon gained a lot of friends though some of her friends' parents didn't seem to like them coming over to her house much. These were the first inklings Nikita had that her family might not be normal. Still, she couldn't place her claws on it as some of her friends were mixed race so it couldn't have been the idea of "pureness".

Then the day came that Nikita's father had her start training in martial arts and other forms of self defence. Initially she wondered why she had to and why she trained one on one with a teacher instead of in a class like at the Academy. Her father had to explain to her that while his job focused on protecting people, there were some people out that that wished him harm and, in turn, harm to those he loved. The Imp said he had to be careful with who he trusted with Nikita as her life was very precious to him. After assuring she understood, Nikita took to her training with lots of gusto.

Thankfully Nikita was a very cheerful and compassionate child who earned the love of all the locals even if they still didn't trust her family. The grimm decided she wanted to make her family as loved by everyone as she loved them. It took a few years more for her to realize that wish would be harder than she thought.

Once she graduated from the Academy Nikita's father told her the whole truth of the world. It stunned her to realize what her family was really. Still, she couldn't say she hated what they were, though she didn't like how they had started. The Imp told her it was time to finish her studying at home. She was to learn how to make the charms and the enchantments that helped protect their customers and to start taking over the family.

Critique incoming!

So the biggest thing I noticed is that reading through Nikita's key traits that she only really seems to have one defining trait -- which is basically that she'll fight anyone that crosses her family or threatens them. But you then go on to mention things like below ...



Which do not line up with what most of her traits are telling us. Your traits are a little redundant in places and could use a bit of tweaking to make the character feel a bit more real and fully fleshed out. Some things you can include in your backstory if you want her to be an aggressive/no bullshit/I'll fight you if you hurt my family kinda character like she comes across, perhaps write more info in to her backstory about what made her become that way. From the exerpt above it seems almost like a different person that you wrote about that do not really match the triats you wrote about.

We haven't seen that character development occur in her backstory to change her from a cheerful and compassionate child in to the spit fire mentioned in your personality traits. Some expansion on the events that lead her to that point would be fantastic! That way we can see where she's coming from.

I will give you a small heads up that we are tweaking grimms to not be magically inept, haha. This isn't at all your fault for the prompt, and we aren't judging Quests and their readiness as a character for the world based on old lore, but I did just want you to know that moving forward so that you can be prepared for that.

Nikita seems to have violent compulsions. Can you expand on why this is? If she had martial arts training, then she should know that it is only used as a last resort and not to be used especially when someone is intentionally trying to razz you. Does she have impulse control issues, did she fail her martial arts training, or does she abuse her teachings and if so, why?

You have a great idea in the works, but it just needs a bit more fleshing out and expansion in some parts!
