It was a dark and stormy night and Alphonse, of all people, knew that stories of things that go bump in the night were not all simple tales. As Erytheia, he had seen a few of those night creatures himself and he only hoped that tonight he would not find a youma. It was dark and stormy and he could feel the fall almost break into winter as the wind howled. His mind, always thinking and worrying, was heightened tonight with all of the festivities. He knew there would be more civilians to protect at night this time of year. Why anyone would choose to be outside in this weather, the lightly-clad page did not know. He was beginning to wish he hadn't left home when he heard a frightening noise behind him that sent chills down his wet spine. His orange eyes darted down a dark and foreboding alley hoping he would find nothing more than a stray cat crying to the night moon. ✪

Crocoite had not had a good night earlier, and was still reeling from the embarrassment he had allowed himself to suffer. To think, someone now knew something so silly about him... it was awful to even think about.
He needed a distraction, now more than ever.
Thankfully, he felt the White Moon aura nearby, having ditched his previous Chaos companion some distance back and losing track of him as he made his escape. That would probably come back to bite him sooner rather than later... but he was trying not to think about it. Right.
The weather, at least, had taken a turn for the worse, which worked in Crocoite's favor. He liked the bad weather, the darkness and the cold. And he knew many other people did not. Maybe he could use fear in his favor, after it betrayed him so badly earlier.
"You look a little cold," the leather clad Lieutenant said as he approached the Page, smiling in an entirely unfriendly way.

For a moment, the young man wanted to sigh in relief. It was no chaotic youma nor even a feral animal nor even the night wind... He tried to speak but no words came out as he watched in terror as the aura revealed the true nature of the beast in the darkness and it was something that was more than simply unwelcome this night. It was something far more dangerous that any creature his mind could have conjured. For Erytheia would have taken any of those things before what stood grinning menacingly in the dark in scaly, leather armor. A lieutenant of the Negaverse. ✪

Crocoite knew he was on the older side, and he would have that to his advantage in most of these meetings. Did it bother him to generally be attacking kids? No, not really. But then again, not a lot of the 'normal' stuff that people obsessed over bothered him, and he followed his own, fairly twisting, path of morality.
Crocoite summoned his cane to his hand, his trusty weapon with it's crocodilian head. It was beautiful, as far as he was concerned, though he also knew it was easily broken if he hit someone too hard with it. It was good that it fixed itself, though, as he would have been really upset if he'd lost it in that fight a little while back.
He leaned on it now, watching the page thoughtfully.
"I don't suppose you'll just make this easy and let me take your energy from you, hm?"

Erytheia tensed as he watched the man summon his weapon. Reluctantly, he summoned his own. The other agents of the Negaverse he had met at least introduced themselves before proceeding to fight him. But this man clearly was in no mood for anything but a fight. "You know I can't let you take my energy." The page replied as he took one tentative step backward into the alley and readied his weapon. It may not have had any magic yet, but he could at least swing it to protect himself. ✪

Crocoite smirked and nodded his head almost politely. He needed a little bit of a mood boost, after all that had happened, so this fight would have to do. Not his usual tastes, leaping right to the fighting part, but tonight it seemed fitting.
He charged, thinking of what Painite would do in a fight, and trying to emulate her fighting style as best he could. For all her faults, she was good at what she did, and had a lot to teach him.
Swinging his crocodile cane, he aimed to smack the page in the face, thinking that would probably be the fastest end to the fight, and to his goal of some stolen energy. At least he did not seem too intent on starseeds tonight, though that would definitely make up for his earlier goof.
Maybe if he got the chance...

Erytheia blocked the blow as best he could, but that was not enough to avoid the head of the bestial cane making contact with the side of his face. As soon as it hit, he new that he would likely have a concussion. Even though the lieutenant's weapon was not embued with magic, the man had clearly been trained in close-quarters combat and he struggled to not pass out from the blow. He staggered, barely keeping his balance and reaching faintly for the old brick wall of the alleyway, as his vision began to blur. The page needed to recover and fast. Too bad he was not trained yet in hand-to-hand combat. He would have to think of something as there was nowhere left to run now. ✪

Crocoite looked pleased with the hit, even glancing at the head of the wicked looking cane as if the crocodile on it would approve of what just happened. Of course, it did not move, and he pointed at the Page.
"You should consider this your lucky day, knight. I have no intention of killing you. I just need a little of your energy."
And why waste an easy target? He could always hunt the young knight down later, right? Or, even better, make a deal with him when he needed it. It was always good to keep options open, and having some loose threads never bothered him. Things tied themselves together when it was most convenient, and he was not as cruel as Painite, who believed in killing everything she came across.
He did charge in, though, grabbing hold of the Page and using the contact to drain what energy he could.

Erytheia struggled to escape from the man's grasp, but it was too late. As the lieutenant drained his energy, he felt faint. The light slowly faded from his eyes as he slumped to the ground, all of the energy in his body taken and fell asleep. ✪

Crocoite took as much energy as he dared, wanting to leave the knight alive and worried about him coming back. He had seen Painite do this kind of thing a lot, though usually she did not mean to leave someone alive to be scared of her, but they managed to get away. Still, he was interested in the idea of taunting someone, hunting them down again and keeping a kind of rivalry alive.
He would see where the decision took him, some other time.
Energy in hand, he left the knight where he'd fallen, leaping off and grinning to himself as he delighted in his success. It was a much better change than earlier in the night, that was for sure! He could all but forget the first embarrassment had even happened.
Which had been the goal, anyway.
