Backstory Xerxes never knew the safety of the village. Her parents had imbued shortly after leaving the village, deciding the birth of their first child would the blessing they needed to start their new lives. They quickly enrolled Xerxes in to the Academy, but the child's parents soon grew homesick for the safety of the life they had always known. The world outside the village was not what the Kumiho pair had expected, and Xerxes' parents decided to move back home where they knew what to expect from their neighbours and surroundings.
They loved Xerxes, deeply, but unlike them, Xerxes had never known life in the village. Xerxes had started to make friends, develop connections, and even began to fall in love.
The day her parents told her they were leaving and to pack her things, Xerxes, a normally quiet and compliant child, dug her heels in. She refused to leave! There was no force in the world that could make her move. This was her world, and if her parents couldn't handle that, then she would just stay at the Academy.
There were many arguments, many counseling sessions, yet her parents remained hopeful her sudden rebellion was just a phase. But Xerxes never budged.
Reluctantly, Xerxes' parents conceded. They allowed their daughter to remain at the Academy, to pursue her education and the live she wanted for herself.
Now, Xerxes is in her senior year, ready to make a name for herself. Maybe one day she'll reconnect with her parents. Maybe she won't, but Xerxes is prepared for anything life throws at her.

Personality and Backstory Expansion
Overall:
Positives:
Self-reliant. Xerxes had always been an independent child. Her parents returning to the village was unsurprisingly an easy transition for her. The hardest part was moving all her things in to her dorm at the Academy. The caretakers there had offered to help her carry her things and help her unpack, but Xerxes considered her parents leaving to be a true test of her ability to take care of herself, and denied any help. She had to prove she was independent.
xxx Non-judgmental. Xerxes could have hated her parents for going back to their quaint village. She could have been resentful or angry that they would so easily leave her, despite the fuss she kicked up. But Xerxes understood that her parents needed to do what was right for them, just as she needed to stay at the Academy; it was the right thing for her. Xerxes, while possibly having differing opinions, could never disapprove or judge someone who did something because they felt it was right for them. Different strokes for different folks.
xxx Adaptable. There's not a lot that phases Xerxes. Growing up, her parents were so indecisive about their new lives away from their previously quiet existence that the family called many places home, with each move the quality of their home life dropping drastically. Their indecision led to a lot of lost jobs, unpaid bills, and lack of food. Xerxes had always found a way to provide just enough for herself. Whether it was changing her eating habits, or spacing out her dinner and making it stretch for a few extra meals, she always adapted and made do with what she had.
xxx
Negatives:
Detached. Xerxes never really connected with her parents. Xerxes is aware that she can come off as a little uncaring at times, and she knows it started when she was quite young, but she can't exactly pinpoint just why she has troubles connecting with the average person.
xxx Quiet. Sometimes Xerxes is ... a little too quiet. Teachers will call on her in class, and Xerxes will just ignore them. Her parents would ask her questions, and Xerxes would just focus on her books. As a child, Xerxes was selectively mute, although her parents thought it just took longer for her to learn how to speak. When she did finally start speaking, her parents were shocked by her over developed vocabulary. While some might see it as a bad thing, Xerxes just doesn't like to talk unless she has something important or meaningful to add to a conversation. She'd rather say nothing then something stupid.
xxx
Stubborn. One of the things that will guarantee make Xerxes speak up is trying to make her do something she doesn't enjoy, or something she doesn't wish to do.Typically, Xerxes doesn't have a temper, but she will get insanely huffy if you try and push her to do something she doesn't want to participate in. xxx
