Why That Costume?:
Ever since she was little she grew up on tales of fantastical beasts and far off lands. Her favorite stories were always the creatures that came out at night time. As she grew up in Above she always drawn to the stories about the creatures of the night. After all true night never came to Above and top of that Isra didn’t get out to often. Her parents were judges and rather famous ones at that and they were always worried that a claimant wouldn’t like a ruling they handed down and would take it out on their only child Isra.
So Isra didn’t really socialize all that much. She stayed in their huge house with the nanny or servants and the only time she ventured out into the world was for school. It was why she absolutely loved when her grandmother came to visit. She’d curl up on her grandmother’s lap and her grandmother would weave up incredible stories about dangerous mythological creatures that lived in the land of Below.
Of course Isra knew that most of the creatures where made believe but it made being a sheltered kid okay. After all she could live through those stories and wonder what life must be like for them, what a starry night sky looked like or night fog, or even traveling through a graveyard at night. Okay that one kind of scared her.
Her favorite story was the story about vampires, mostly because she always loved bats and the idea of nighttime. So creatures that could turn into bats and only came out when it was dark? The fact that vampires often had red eyes like herself was just icing on the cake. Yeah they did drink blood and burst into ash whenever they were introduced to the sun but a person couldn’t have everything. Isra’s grandmother always had a special tale about a vampire family and how they adapted to modern world. Isra loved hearing about them. It was their own special little story.
Then things changed. Isra’s grandmother got really sick and no matter what the medical advancements Above had it was just too late and her grandmother passed away. Isra drew into herself. Sure they went to school, but there were no more stories and no more wondering what the night sky looked like or what her vampire family was doing.
It was then her parents saw an opportunity to move Isra out of her little self-imposed ball. There was a chance for a job opportunity in below. It paid more and it was a different type of law so the family packed up and moved to Below. Night time was everything that Isra had dreamed about. It was cooler, the stars where absolutely gorgeous and night fog was awesomely creepy. It was just what Isra needed to perk up again.
Even better was going to the academy, and her parents finally agreeing it was safe enough to go to the festivals. Her first one was the Haunted Hallows. It was here that sh could see all her mythical creatures that had featured in her grandmother’s stories. Sure they didn’t always have the magical properties in the stories or they were actually people in costumes, but it helped bring back fond memories of her grandmother. Isra, herself, even got a costume to run around in. she knew instantly what costume she wanted. There was only one clear choice in her mind. She was going to bring more of her grandmother’s stories to life and she was going to be a vampire. It was her way of showing her grandmother, where ever they had moved on to, that she had made it down to below and that she appreciated those stories. Besides… she had always loved vampires and it was an excuse to run around in fangs.
Why That Costume?: Feylin stood with her nose pressed right up at the familiar shop's window, watching the Fennekits roll around with each other. A huge grin spread across the little elf's face. Each time her dorm group was taken into town, she'd position herself here, for as long as she was permitted. Two little kits rolls with each other, whipping their tails back and forth. She giggled, and pressed tighter into the glass.
Her caretaker came up behind her, smiling down on her. "Hey Feylin, can I show you a Halloween costume?"

Why That Costume?:
Elfleda (Leda) was born into an uptight, boring elf family. All year round it was proper etiquette. Sit up straight, dress properly. Make sure your hair is perfect. Outfit clean. Leda wasn't allowed to play at the playground with the other freshlings in the Above. Leda's uncle finally convinced her parents that she needed to come to the Bellow to study at the academy. Her uncle Erasyl took Leda to a costume shop and told her she could pick any costume. Leda ran to the costume of the Fennekit costume!! Leda wanted nothing more than to be a Fennekit, case some vespercats, wander off from her owners for a while. Cause some mischief, chew on some stuff!! Leda was ready to go wild!! Let her hair get messy, play in the dirt and mud, actually play with other freshlings for once in her life.
The little Litch, dressed up in their costume smiled wide at the question. "It's kinda an inside joke, I guess. I mean, I do like mummies!" They pulled at their wrappings shyly, thinking of where to begin.
"I grew up loving spooky stories, and my mummy read them to me!" They laughed, "Get it? Mummy?" They broke out into a fit of laughter. "My...! My mummy also loved those stories! That's why she shared them with me. And I love my mummy so much! She's... She's the only one who stayed with me, even when her mean friends and family told her to she didn't need a kid, let alone me." They huffed, "Mummy tells me to ignore them, that they're just jealous they she loves me so much! And to show her that I love my mummy, I dressed up as a mummy! She's gonna be so surprised!"

Why That Costume?:
Seemed as though all the stories that he had heard made him yearn to be like them, all those fantastical stories of creatures unlike those in his world.
The differences, the mystique of the characters he was told about drew him as if they knew he would be tantalized.
Wide eyed and in awe as the day finally came for him to go to town and choose his costume. He had thought about it for weeks, each character he read about was interesting, each one had it's own appeal. Although he had to admit, one in particular drew his attention more then any other. He knew in his heart of hearts this was the costume for him.
It was out of character for him to be drawn to something so dark since part of his heritage was Elf but the Goblin side of him rejoiced in his choice.
Making his way through the costume shoppe, he carefully picked through until he found his size and gleefully smirked as he fit the fake fangs in his mouth and tried to make a face. He could not help it, he laughed a bit and he tried on the rest of his outfit.

Why That Costume?:
The small child grinned ear to ear as they struck a spooky pose into the mirror. It was simple, yet AWESOME. So what it it was basically a onesie, and a skull mask? It was their favorite thing.. bones! They loved bones, even if that seemed a bit morbid to their friends. They collected small ones their parent let them clean out, and sanitize, and decorated a small shelf with them. One day.. just one day.. they would learn all they could about them, and maybe help people with their bones.. but for now, it was spooky time!

Why That Costume?:
Born blind, Elian has taken much solace in reading books in braile. However, these are far from a common item. He's especially interested in history books, especially those involving Litches. His most cherished possesion is a book about ancient Litch embalming practices. He begged his caretaker for months in the lead up to Halloween that he be allowed to make himself a costume representing such practices. When they finally related, he made his costume himself, with much effort and attention to the feel and weight of the fabric he used.
