You venture a bit out into the swamplands, following a strange sound in the distance -- and before you can get too far, you spot a medium-sized animal, floundering around a bit among the trees. As you approach, you notice something strange: some shredded fabric still clinging around one foot, or around its neck, like the remnants of some long-destroyed clothing.
At this point, it occurs to you that this might be a transformed human being. maybe it's even one of you. And you must capture it.
Except it doesn't seem to want to be captured. Your approach spooks it, and it attacks you in blind fear.
Hit Points: 30 HP Damage: 4 HP each time you attack
If you bring this monster down to 5HP or below, it is injured and can be captured and brought back to the campsite for safe keeping until you can figure out what to do. However, if you drop it below 0HP, you kill it.
Either outcome, once finished with at least 500 words each party involved in the battle gets 10XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following:
1-10: You are bitten during the attack, and are turned into an animal! Size is determined by your weapon: agile weapons become small animals, balanced become medium sized, and heavy become large.
11-40: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent. 41-99: Moly Flower: a small white flower with a dark root. You're not quite sure what it's for, but decide to keep it. 100: Fine Wine: Why would an animal have a bottle of wine? Considering all that's going on, we strongly suggest you don't drink. If you act rashly and do, though, please PM and be blue for consequences.

Zan didn't even bat an eyelash when he saw the penguin. Well, he did internally, because penguin, but on the outside he kept it cool, nodding at the creature—Vesper, he'd call her—as if they were passing each other on a Sunday stroll.
Fancy meeting you here. Now, DIE!
He lunged, he stabbed, but the penguin's skin was thick and he barely made a dent. Vesper turned, fully aware of his presence now, and honked in his face. She whapped him with a flipper, then spread both wide, honking again. Come at me, bro.

Character Name:Zan Gethin Brief description of character: Friendly, perceptive, phony. Zan has wholeheartedly embraced the more mundane aspects of his new life at the Prytaneum—such as regular meals, his stipend, and the gym—but his inability to stick with any one thing for long has left him struggling to pin down how he might best serve his god long term.

He recoiled from the slap, not because it was all that painful, but because it meant he was in range. Thankfully, he had never felt particularly squishy in a fight, thanks to his token, and he went right after her again, grazing her for a second time. If he was going to actually subdue her, he needed to find a better place to stab.

Zan found a better place when she charged him instead, flippers outstretched again. His dagger sank in an inch or two below the equivalent of her armpit, and he winced in sympathy.
"Stop... fighting!" Zan struggled to keep her at bay without hurting her further, but she seemed determined to hurt herself using him if he didn't oblige.

He tried to hold her flippers behind her back, which might have been hilarious had it not been so difficult. Vesper thrashed and squawked, injuring him quite a bit more than he was doing in return. She caught him in the nose with the back of her skull and stunned them both, sending Zan staggering away.
"If you broke my nose, I swear I'll kill you."
He pressed his fingers to its bridge and finding no permanent damage, he nodded in relief. "Just kidding."

His relief didn't last long. It almost seemed like the penguin was waiting for him to make sure he was still able to fight before she struck again, but as soon as he stopped feeling his face, she was on him, her calls sounding a little like laughter now.

"Are you messing with me?"
It seemed like she was messing with him.

Vesper paused, the forest silent with the absence of her squawks. She might have truly been messing with him, but being called out on it appeared to offend her so completely that she was now rendered speechless. Zan, at a loss for what to do if she wasn't attacking or surrendering, stood there with his blade drawn once more.
With one final honk, Vesper dropped her flippers and faced him with an expression as close to a scowl as a penguin could wear. She then shoved past and began to waddle in the direction from which Zan had approached, never once turning to make sure he had followed.
She was doing a decent job at going the right way, and spite made him want to leave her to it and watch her get lost from the cover of the trees, but he soon followed, determined to get his tamed animal-humans to safety whether they were assholes or not. He picked up another of those flowers as he went. Why fighting was a beacon for them was beyond him, but now that he knew they were important, he couldn't just leave them lying around.
