You venture a bit out into the swamplands, following a strange sound in the distance -- and before you can get too far, you spot a medium-sized animal, floundering around a bit among the trees. As you approach, you notice something strange: some shredded fabric still clinging around one foot, or around its neck, like the remnants of some long-destroyed clothing.
At this point, it occurs to you that this might be a transformed human being. maybe it's even one of you. And you must capture it.
Except it doesn't seem to want to be captured. Your approach spooks it, and it attacks you in blind fear.
Hit Points: 30 HP Damage: 4 HP each time you attack
If you bring this monster down to 5HP or below, it is injured and can be captured and brought back to the campsite for safe keeping until you can figure out what to do. However, if you drop it below 0HP, you kill it.
Either outcome, once finished with at least 500 words each party involved in the battle gets 10XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following:
1-40: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent. 41-99: Moly Flower: a small white flower with a dark root. You're not quite sure what it's for, but decide to keep it. 100: Fine Wine: Why would an animal have a bottle of wine? Considering all that's going on, we strongly suggest you don't drink. If you act rashly and do, though, please PM and be blue for consequences.

It was following the time he'd spent with Rose when Zan first began to worry about the welfare of these animalistic Chosen. Despite the crazy amount of improvement he'd displayed in battle thus far, there was always the chance he might hit too hard and take one of his fellows out before they could surrender. If he did that... well... he was just going to have to be careful.
Never have I ever murdered someone.
It was bad enough he'd killed those muskrats before he'd known enough to spot Chosen in animal form and run from the rest. There wouldn't be enough scotch in the whole of the Prytaneum to swallow the regret he'd feel if he stabbed someone to death.
Surprisingly, he had little fear of the same treatment being turned on him, maybe because he knew how to run. It was all he had ever really been good at physically. Squirming out of situations and escaping to safety. Unless he was cornered, of course. Squirming could only get you so far when there was nowhere to go.
Zan broke out of his musings, confused for a moment until he looked up and saw the sun. He never would have predicted that one day he would be navigating by the sun in any capacity, but he knew enough to figure out he was far south of the camp, too far, and he was backed against a large, stone wall. Worse yet, he could swear he heard something coming.

Character Name:Zan Gethin Brief description of character: Friendly, perceptive, phony. Zan has wholeheartedly embraced the more mundane aspects of his new life at the Prytaneum—such as regular meals, his stipend, and the gym—but his inability to stick with any one thing for long has left him struggling to pin down how he might best serve his god long term.

A moose. No, a ******** deer. The buck rounded the rocks and stopped, staring at Zan with just as much confusion as he must have worn.
Before Kevin could charge, however, Zan made the first move, jumping on the deer's back and slashing him hard across the neck. Kevin bellowed in pain and tried to buck Zan off, but when it became clear he wasn't going to get anywhere with that, the deer stopped dead in his tracks and refused to move.

Zan peered down at the hunk he had taken out of the Chosen's neck, slightly miffed at the deer's subsequent lack of response. The rest of them had been so unwilling to come that he'd thought... He'd made a stupid assumption that he shouldn't have.
"Sorry. I came to take you back to camp, if you want? The others fought, but I don't have to mess with you anymore if you come quietly."
Kevin tossed his head in agreement, remaining still again until Zan held out a finger and pointed.

They traveled in silence after that for at least twenty minutes before Zan got the bright idea to try administering some first aid.

He rummaged in his pack for a minute or two until he found a few alcohol wipes and bandages. Perfect.
Zan leaned over Kevin's neck and unwrapped one of the wipes, pressing it to the long, neat cut. Overcome by the surprise sting, Kevin stood up nearly straight on his hind legs. Not expecting such a violent reaction, Zan slid off of his back into the dirt. It was hilarious.

They glared at each other for a few minutes more, and when Zan tried to climb back on Kevin's back, he was sternly rebuked.
"Okay, yeah. I guess I deserve that." He shuffled off toward camp a bit slower than he'd started out, achy from the riding and the hard landing. Kevin followed at a stately plod.
It wasn't the most successful rescue he'd managed, but as Zan and Kevin reentered camp and the deer allowed himself to be led off to a cage, the Chosen felt... all right he felt like tenderized crap. He just needed a bit of a breather and everything would be back to normal.
