You venture a bit out into the swamplands, following a strange sound in the distance -- and before you can get too far, you spot a medium-sized animal, floundering around a bit among the trees. As you approach, you notice something strange: some shredded fabric still clinging around one foot, or around its neck, like the remnants of some long-destroyed clothing.
At this point, it occurs to you that this might be a transformed human being. maybe it's even one of you. And you must capture it.
Except it doesn't seem to want to be captured. Your approach spooks it, and it attacks you in blind fear.
Hit Points: 30 HP Damage: 4 HP each time you attack
If you bring this monster down to 5HP or below, it is injured and can be captured and brought back to the campsite for safe keeping until you can figure out what to do. However, if you drop it below 0HP, you kill it.
Either outcome, once finished with at least 500 words each party involved in the battle gets 10XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following:
1-40: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent. 41-99: Moly Flower: a small white flower with a dark root. You're not quite sure what it's for, but decide to keep it. 100: Fine Wine: Why would an animal have a bottle of wine? Considering all that's going on, we strongly suggest you don't drink. If you act rashly and do, though, please PM and be blue for consequences.

Following his trip to town and another brief stop back at camp, Zan set out again, this time looking for the telltale signs of Chosenhood. It seemed his fellow god-picked humans were quite the danger to themselves if left alone to flail through the woods, and it was to their benefit to be brought in, even if they got a little banged up along the way. It was almost like punching regular people, or less like hitting innocent animals at the very least.
He found his first victim a short distance from where he'd fought the muskrats, a golden retriever with a certain bewildered intelligence behind its eyes. The fact that it was wearing half of a shredded button down was also telling, as was its willingness to attack what it perceived as a threat without hesitation or fear.
Zan dodged as the dog took a running leap at him, but he didn't manage to avoid much of the attack as he countered clumsily with his fists.

He continued trying to punch the human animal in close quarters, receiving a neck bite for his trouble that would have been way worse had he not had his token. Finally, after a bit more of a scuffle, he threw the dog off and wobbled to his feet, brandishing his dagger.

"Come and get me... Bob."
It seemed as good a name as any to him, but clearly the dog didn't think so as it prompted the animal to leap at him again, growling and snarling. This time he struck back with a weapon, and although the pained whine that resulted was still hard to hear, Zan knew it was for the greater good. He smirked.
"Just come quietly, Bob, and this'll all be over soon."

Bob barked, sharp and loud, almost as it he was responding. Apparently, the answer was no. I will not come quietly. Arf arf arf. As soon as Bob stopped, he leaped again, but Zan was ready this time and countered with a swipe of his blade.

It was kind of like sparring with a willing opponent, this "injure and capture" thing he had going. Much better than killing muskrats and living with he guilt. Bob looked like he was getting tired too. Zan danced around the dog, leading him in a circle before he lashed out again.

It only took one more quick jab to Bob's side before he went down, tired and bleeding, but mercifully alive. Zan sheathed his knife and approached slowly, palms out, ignoring the dog's low growl as he laid a hand on Bob's side, careful to stay away from any obvious injuries. He began to rub the creature's neck, and after a few minutes he received a weak tail thump in return.
"Yeah, I'm sorry too, buddy. Next time maybe think about giving up?"
It took several minutes for Zan to give Bob a little water, gather up his things (including another of those rank flowers), and figure out how to best carry the dog back to camp, and in that time Bob's vision seemed to clear. He nuzzled Zan's shoulder when he picked the dog up, a noncommittal little wuff leaving him as he closed his eyes.
