Team Rocket Base - Tohjo Falls

User Image

Connecting Land Routes:
Tohjo Falls, New Bark Town (Surf + Waterfall) , Mt. Silver , Kanto Victory Road
Connected through Teleportation*:
Any location in Kanto or Johto

Located halfway between Kanto and Johto, a Team Rocket base lies hidden behind the thundering Tohjo Falls. The base's location was chosen, above all, for convenience and its unique location close to both Kanto and Johto. It serves as a stepping stone for agents moving from one area to the next, and also as access to the sea should travel to other regions be required.

A great wall sculpted to appear no different from the surrounding rock lies behind one of the falls' many rushing streams of water and can slide open and closed to admit large visitors. A similar yet smaller entrance lies in one of the many Tohjo falls caves, accessible via access card or by pressing a small rock by the camouflaged sliding door to essentially ring the doorbell. A large swath of land above the falls can split open to accommodate helicopters and flying pokemon.

Inside, the base is largely what one would expect from Team Rocket: long hallways of polished floors and white walls with large red "R"s painted periodically. The main on-foot entrance opens into one such corridor that ends in the mission control room. Here members can go to receive or report on missions and go to the supply cage at the room's side to borrow or return pokemon or items loaned for a mission. There is always a grunt on duty at the desk to call the Admin-on-site if necessary and to buzz in any freelancer workers or dopey grunts that lost their access cards. At the back of the room is a large raised platform, and behind that platform a sliding door that leads to the Admin's office. When an agent in Kanto or Johto needs quick access to the base, the Admin's Alakazam uses Teleport to bring them in on the raised platform and can also teleport people out from that same platform*. Large shipments of stolen goods and pokemon must be brought in via more conventional means, and generally do not stay for long before being shipped to a larger base.

Though the base is meant to serve more as a waypoint than to hold any permanent number of people, there is a medium-sized, barraks-like room of 30 beds, rarely more than 1/4 full. The most action it sees is when groups are sent to the base on a training assignment. The white with red "R" patterned bedspreads are always pulled tight around each mattress. Down the same hall from this room is a cafeteria. In another hall, ten individual rooms line the wall, each with a private bathroom and black bedsheets. More important members stay in these rooms while visiting and dine in the separate dining area that boasts marginally better food than the cafeteria.

Additional rooms include an infirmary, lab, hangar, and warehouse with holding rooms for pokemon or prisoners. A training center includes a battle arena, gym equipment, and a suspended track. Scattered throughout the base are monitors built into the walls that show scenes of the outside to keep everyone's morale up. On mondays they play music over the loudspeakers.

Current Admin : Alessandro
      Pokemon: Alakazam, Vaporeon, Exeggutor, Aerodactyl
Personality: Alessandro takes pride in his work, and makes an effort to pull any promising agents into his corner. He takes physical and mental health very seriously, and expects his subordinates to take care of themselves so their performance is optimal. He possesses an excellent combination of firmness, authority, and reasonableness that keeps subordinates inspired and respectful, yet fearful of his cold wrath.

On-Site Grunt : Morgan
      Pokemon: Persian, Arbok, Mankey
Personality: Sarcastic, likes to banter and often seems to be bored. Very rarely lets anyone get through her to get what they want without making a comment or poking into their business.
Common Locations: Supply Cage, Indoor Firing Range

On-Site Grunt : Voxx Veila
      Pokemon:: Haunter, Grimer, Beedrill
Personality:: Likes to play pranks, mostly with stink bombs or other non-toxic toys. She's fairly hyper and acts like a child most the time, though when made upset, which isn't hard to do, her temper can lead her to using very toxic means... She holds grudges for the smallest of things and her path of revenge is often life threatening.
Common Location:: She's often spotted working in the Supply cage, often on a new invention or repairing something broken, other than that she'll take a mission and wander around Kanto.
      Created by:: Indeciisiive Wolkova

Note: All NPCs may be roleplayed by anyone who wishes to visit, or you can quote me (TheWhiteDragonfly) to RP as them. Currently the staff at the base is low, but may be added to in the future. If you wish to create an NPC for the base, PM me (TheWhiteDragonfly) with their information!

*Teleportation rules: if a character has not yet received the HM fly / none of their pokemon know the move after receiving the HM then that character must note what location they were in before being teleported to the base, keep that information in their posts while in the base, and must return to that location when leaving the base. A character with the use of fly and a pokemon on their team that knows fly may use the teleport feature to go between different Johto/Kanto Location.

Mission Control :

Anyone is welcome to take on jobs with this base, not just Team Rocket Agents- indeed, many freelancers will take on missions or deliver the occasional haul for adequate compensation. Freelancers will either contact Team Rocket themselves, or sometimes Team Rocket will reach out to established or potential freelancers with missions or proposals. Freelancers and Team agents generally operate either by coming to the base or by drop locations. While the former is self-explanatory, the latter involves using a mobile device to choose missions and report on success or some haul outside of a mission. Then they will leave the stolen items in a drop location so Alakazam can teleport them to base and teleport a reward to them (unless they prefer deposits directly to the bank or Pokemon PC).

Missions all possess ranks corresponding to an agent’s rank within the base. A higher rank equates to more clearance and access to better equipment and pokemon that can be borrowed to complete jobs. An agent may only select missions of a rank equal or lower to their own. If you so choose, your character may be assigned a rank and complete missions to move up in ranks. You may choose the timing of your rank-ups yourself or delegate the choice to me so it is more of a surprise. Your character may ignore ranks if they wish; the base does possess some flexible agents/freelancers that can be thought of as outside the scope of the ranking system if you choose. The character will still need to report mission success, either over the phone or in person.

Some missions will no longer be available after they have been completed by a character while others will remain up longer or indefinitely. Missions that can only be completed once will be marked with a *. Your character may reserve up to one * mission at a time by requesting it from the mission board either at the base or over the phone. Quote me (TheWhiteDragonfly) and I will reserve the mission for you. Also quote me when you finish the mission so I can mark it as complete.

( If you have an idea for a mission, PM me! I would be happy to add to the list :3 )

      Ranks: S, A, B, C, D, E

      Missions:

The Starters: Starter pokemon are rare and desirable, difficult to acquire unless somehow stolen or tricked from a Professor. Team Rocket is always looking for more starters to be delivered by its agents.
          Mission Rank: E
To Complete: Bring in any starter or its evolutions
          Location: All Regions

The Eevee's Evolutions: Team Rocket scientists would like to study Eevee and its unstable genetics, believing it may lead to insight into Mew and Mewtwo. Eevee are required for this study.
          Mission Rank: E
To Complete: Bring in an Eeevee
          Location: All Regions

Mass Production: What better way to use acquired pokemon than to breed them to make more? first, Team Rocket requires Dittos for the program. Then, agents may very well find themselves as egg-hatchers for Team Rocket's benefit.
          Mission Rank: E
To Complete: Bring in a Ditto
          Location: All Regions

*Ranger in the Forest: A Pokemon Ranger has been spotted in Viridian Forest. Agents nearby have requested someone find the ranger and report their location to ensure they do not interfere with a planned Team Rocket heist in the nearby area.
          Mission Rank: E
To Complete: RP finding a Ranger and reporting their location to the base
          Location: Kanto, Veridian Forest

Lake of Rage Curiosity: Reports of a new pokemon at the Lake of Rage has Team Rocket's curiosity piqued. Investigate and bring back evidence and/or a living specimen. (The pokemon in question is a Klow and may be caught at the Lake of Rage at level 5 if desired)
          Mission Rank: D
To Complete: Send the base pictures or notes on Klow OR capture a Klow and bring it to the base (please only do this if you plan to keep the Klow lol )
          Location: Johto, Lake of Rage

*Seaside Con: An agent stationed in Olivine City requires aid setting up a long con. The mission is to pretend to rob the agent, allowing the con's rich mark to "save" the agent. The one who takes the mission shall slip away without getting caught or showing enough face to be identified in the future. Further tasks are up to the commanding agent's discretion.
          Mission Rank: C
To Complete: Roleplay out the described scene to successful completion, all of the details such as the agent's name are up to you. You may have the con continue and require more efforts or end with the initial setup.
          Location: Olivine City

Sylph Co. Heist: Sylph Co. can always be counted on to create new technology to steal. Infiltrate the Sylph Co. tower and retrieve the latest technology or intel.
          Mission Rank: B
To Complete: Acquire one of the following at the designated location and deliver to the base: Porygon, Porygon 2, Porygon Z, Cybun (if claimed from an event with Spectral Eternity's permission), Frost Plug, Heat Plug, Mow Plug, Fan Plug, Wash Plug OR roleplay out your character stealing classified data files from the location
Location: Kanto, Saffron City, Sylph Co. Building

Obtaining Great Power: Team Rocket wishes to capture legendaries to control and study their power. Legendaries brought in by agents will be studied and put to use. The agent that captures it may become the legendary's keeper and be called on dangerous missions where high firepower is required.
          Mission Rank: S
To Complete: Bring in any legendary
          Location: All Regions

Supply Cage :

The Supply cage is packed with any gadget or equipment you could imagine. From hacking devices to rappelling equipment to guns, the supply cage has almost any agent covered. On occasion rare or specialized equipment will need to be pre-ordered for a mission. In addition, sometimes new technology (stolen or developed by Team Rocket scientists) will be given to the base to be tested by its agents.

The Supply Cage also houses another kind of tool: pokemon. From porygon to hypno to ditto, the Cage can supply all sorts of support pokemon that have been trained to follow orders and assist with a job. These pokemon's abilities and moves can change from mission to mission and are indeed often given different movesets based on the situation. Any character may borrow these pokemon for RP purposes, but do keep in mind that they are not "real" and cannot be placed in the active party or be used to battle. They cannot gain experience and do not count towards achievements.

Agents or freelancers may sign out any of the materials here; if something should happen to an asset on the mission, the cost will be taken out of their reward for that job and/or future missions.

Rewards Center :

After completing missions or delivering a haul of items and/or pokemon, an agent or freelancer will be given some form of reward in addition to moving closer to a new rank. Alessandro is known to reward his employees with strong pokemon or items so they may continue to perform, and it is not unusual for an agent to receive the item/pokemon they just stole as a reward. Otherwise, the pokemon or items they stole will be added to this rewards center, where other people who complete missions can choose them as rewards for other missions. This will essentially act as a trading hub for items and pokemon. For example, your character could steal a Totodile and bring it to the base, leaving it in the rewards center and taking something from here in return (let's say someone else already left a Squirtle here, so you/your character chooses the Squirtle as the reward for the mission).

If you wish to deposit items/pokemon or take something as a reward, you must contact a crew member (right now that'd be me, TheWhiteDragonfly) so the crew can make sure the trade is fair and so the rewards center list can be updated.

Characters are also welcome to make their rewards items or pokemon that they have claimed in giveaways or items that they have bumped the required number of posts for. If you do this, you do not have to quote me to receive your reward because you already claimed/earned the items although you do still need to quote if you are dropping an item or pokemon off.

At the moment, there are no pokemon/items in the reward center.

The platform in the center of the control room shimmered, and Nero appeared in the center. Alessandro's Alakazam backed away, and Nero followed its path to the door behind the platform: Alessandro's room. But the admin's door remained shut. Nero frowned and hopped off the platform; the way he moved wasn't helping him when it came to being respected despite his new and puny body. He started for the rewards center, charmander's ball in hand. "Yo, Nero!" Dammit, Morgan. Nero sighed, veering off course to join Morgan at the supply cage. His chest barely cleared the counter. "Hey." Morgan leaned forward. "C'mon, Ner, you know I can't see what you're holding when you're so short. Did you get it?" Nero snorted and leaned forward. "What can you offer if I did?" The woman waved a hand. "If your flirting might have worked before, what makes you think it'll work now, kid?" Nero shrugged. "Big eyes on a little head?" That got a laugh from Morgan, and she gave a real hoot when Nero lifted his hand so she could see the pokeball. "You're damned right I got it. Walked right in, old Oak fell over himself to give it. You should've seen it. 'Oh yes young man, here you are. Would you like a hundred pokeballs with that?'" Morgan shook her head, holding the pokeball up in wonder. "Well I'll be. Looks like you can still be useful after all." Nero took the ball back from her. "A novel concept for you, I'm sure." Morgan snorted half-heartedly. "Well, go drop it off, squirt," she said, going back to what she had been doing before Nero returned: cleaning a handgun.

Nero placed his palm against one of the mission control kiosks, glad that fingerprints didn't change with age. Unless you burn them off, he thought to himself, studying his other hand while the scan went through. Welcome. Raniero. At least the kiosk was cheeky as ever. Nero selected his completed job off the screen. There was a noticeable pause between the selection and the opening of a hatch in the machine, as if it was saying: 'really? you took this job half an hour ago? you sure you aren't cheating?'

Nero was about to place the charmander's pokeball in the kiosk's open slot when he felt a scaly hand wrap around his shoulder. "Alakazam." The pokemon stared at him a moment and then retreated back towards the teleportation pedestal and the admin's room. The message was clear: Alessandro wanted to speak with him. Nero shoved the pokeball into the kiosk and hit the button to finish the transfer and cancel any further actions. He'd have to get back to it later. Now he was striding after Alakazam, refusing to jog to catch up even though his short legs could only carry him so fast.

Alakazam opened the door with a thought. Alessandro sat at his desk, sliding a paper to the side as Nero walked in. "Agent Raniero." Nero paused at the doorway. "Admin Alessandro." He stepped inside and sat, the door closing behind him. "I trust your mission was a success?" Alessandro leaned back, placing his interlocked fingers in his lap. "Of course. I got a charmander, Oak didn't suspect a thing." Alessandro "hmm'd", watching Nero intently. Nero was, of course, expected to sit still until Alessandro was done thinking. He couldn't begin to imagine what it was like for Alessandro to see the boy Ray sitting in front of him again.

Alessandro leaned forward, elbows on his desk. "You know, your feet don't quite touch the ground, do they?" he asked. His lips were twitched into a smirk so slight that only Nero could have noticed it. Nero smirked right back, leaning forward so his feet were flat on the ground. "I've been told." Alessandro wasted no time moving the conversation forward. "You are in a unique position to gather intelligence, Raniero. The image of a child with the mind of an adult. I'll state it plainly: your current condition is valuable." Nero wasn't sure whether to be annoyed or glad. "Until further notice, you are to de-prioritize individual missions. Focus on your new task: completing the pokemon league challenge." Nero nearly fell off the chair. "What!?" Alessandro never lost eye contact. "Gather intelligence using your unique position. Complete missions when appropriate."

Nero swallowed in his dry throat. This could not be happening. Him, on a "pokemon journey"? Although, the more he thought about it, the more he found it amusing. No one would suspect a thing. Second by second, his frown turned to a smile as he warmed to the idea. The fact that Alessandro wanted him to do it helped too. "Fine," he said finally, "But I want at least one of my pokemon with me. I want my granbull back." Alessandro didn't skip a beat, "Defeat the first gym, and you'll have your granbull back." He had obviously thought of the question already. Nero still pushed back. "Why? Why can't I have him now?" Alessadnro replied simply, "It wouldn't suit a boy your age." Nero felt the jaws of a trap closing around him, one that Alessandro had no doubt set while he was off getting that charmander. Of course. Alessandro had known Nero would accept, and had prepared arguments for anything Nero said.

Nero sighed. "Fine. Then what pokemon am I supposed to use." As soon as Nero said it, Alessandro had a genuine hint of a smirk on his face, one even normal people would question whether it was there or not. He pulled a pokeball out from his pocket and held it out to Nero. "...it's the charmander isn't it?" Nero took the pokeball from him. "Use it well. The pokemon the Professor gives out are coveted for a reason." Now Nero wished he had picked bulbasaur. "Speak with Agent Morgan before you leave. She has some supplies for you." Nero nodded and turned to leave. "Oh, and Raniero. Finding a way to fix your predicament is not officially part of your mission. I trust you perform as always." Nero nodded, doing a fake salute. He knew that meant Alessandro was giving him the go ahead to make this journey a search for a "cure" as well. Before the door had even closed behind Nero, Alessandro was back to his paperwork.

                                      Teleported from Pallet Town, Kanto

Nero didn't really feel like lingering in the base. The place was almost empty right now, and besides, when Alessandro gave orders, there was the unspoken word that unless he needed rest or food he should follow them immediately. So Nero found himself at the supply cage again. "Heading out again, huh?" Nero shrugged. "Guess I'm just popular." A tray clattered to the counter. "New pokemon, a tyrogue, fighting type, plus some held items, healing stuff, the works. Pack to carry, clothes, food, water, some money from your account. This trip is going to be a long one, isn't it?" Morgan asked. "Who knows? Maybe I'm just growing too fast." Morgan leaned over to look Nero up and down while he shoved everything into the bag and slung it onto his back. "'Ain't foolin' me, kid. You haven't grown a bit since you got back like that." Nero tightened the pack so it sat comfortably. "Don't miss me too much." Morgan shook her head. "Get outta here, you cocky squirt." Nero waved his hand in her direction and started for the teleportation platform. "Where you picked me up before, Alakazam," he directed the psychic type. Alakazam walked up and reached out its hand, summoning its power, and then Nero was gone.
