Victory Road is a tunnel situated on Route 23, earning its name from the fact that it must be traveled by all Trainers aiming for the top; to become Pokemon League Champion. Its other end opens up in Indigo Plateau and the Pokémon League. Only Trainers with all eight badges from the Kanto Region are allowed to enter.
Victory Road has three floors. To reach the other end of the tunnel, trainers must find their way through the series of puzzling twists and turns, battling increadably strong wild pokemon, and other aspiring trainers looking for their equal. Victory Road is said to be filled with strong because it was once the nesting grounds of the legendary Pokémon Moltres, but where the bird of fire has gone now, no one knows.

This was the last stop. For the league, Lafayette had a gut feeling that this search ran farther than just the region of Kanto and its shores. The eggs had managed that after all and these wishing stars seemed to hold far more value than they did.
Huh, was there a prize for collecting these? Was this just another trick by Juliean to collect supplies from unsuspecting individuals? Because the Aussie was pretty sure that the man had enough money to just… buy it himself.
He was able to rent a hotel at a fancy beach resort for Arceus sake. Lafayette’s brow furrowed in agitation at the thought, head quickly shaking. No, no, it probably wasn’t anything like that. Juliean, for all his bullshit, wasn’t the type to pull him away to do something useless. He liked to have Lafayette’s time spent in a manner that benefited him.

They touched down outside the tunnel and Lafayette couldn’t help but stare. When he thought of a road, he expected… a road. Not a tunnel. But a road. But no, this was yet another tunnel. Which was in their favor.
At least, Noah thought so. Before his trainer even had the chance to voice their plan of operations, the Dewott had flung himself headfirst into the tunnel, scrambling down the well-trodden path with the fleeting sounds of a yelling trainer catching his ears. That was fine! He’d find the wishing star and be back to Lafayette in the beat of a heart! He knew what to look for! He wasn’t silently feeling grateful that it was a tunnel and not another forest this time; he didn’t need to get shown up by Micah again!

Not that he was worried about the Arcanine. He’d been here first! Or… sort of first. Noah frowned. Okay, so Lafayette had had Micah as a Growlithe well before stumbling across him on the train tracks, but Noah was practically Lafayette’s starter! He felt that the honor of number one sidekick went to him! And only him.
So there.
Another stone flipped, rocks kicked up, dirt piles disrupted, but still no results. It wasn’t nearly as dark as the other tunnels they’d been in and Noah couldn’t help but mistake every reflective surface as a potential glowing rock. What was the deal here?! They’d been easier to find before! He clearly wasn’t looking hard enough. Some more digging, deeper than probably necessary, and that portion of the tunnel was on the path to being an unsafe wreck.

Noah collapsed on the floor, panting for air, beads of sweat peppering his brow. The interior of the tunnel looked like there’d been a fight between Excadrills. There were holes everywhere, rocks scattered in every direction, almost blocking the pathway. But there’d been no sign of the star. Maybe he had to go further? But if that were the case, he’d have to go back empty-handed to Lafayette...
"Noah!"
The Dewott bristled, immediately shoving himself up to a sitting position to address his trainer. The Aussie had a frown on his face, a look that suggested he was confused and annoyed. Noah gulped. Despite the pleasant mood so far, it was quite possible for that to change in the drop of a hat. Fortunately, it didn’t. Instead, the man strolled over, his mixed gaze looking around at the destruction his pokemon had caused, clearly surprised at how much he had managed in a relatively short time.
He stopped in front of Noah, kneeling, and holding up the Wishing star they’d been looking for, much to the Dewott’s chagrin. "We alreadeh found it, mate. Maybeh don’ go runnin’ off like that." Lafayette commented.
"Dew… ott…," Noah sighed, shoulders slumping. Well, so much for proving himself. He’d proved something alright; he was Lafayette’s pokemon. "C’mon mate, ya can rest on tha’ ride to tha’ next region. Okay?" Lafayette said amusement in his tone as he scooped the Dewott up, ushering him into a shoulder ride. Noah seemed surprised at the act, gently wresting his paws on his trainer’s head and taking in the view as they headed back.

Funny how the final stretch of their wishing star scavenger hunting collection would end in the exact place where the final obstacle between any aspiring trainer and the league stood… Flying in from high up above, Eveline was able to get a good look at both Mt. Silver, easily visible off to the west, and the Indigo Plateau itself before Jaffa banked and began to descend in for a landing. Seemed the place had undergone quite a few renovations in an attempt to really fancy it up in recent years, because those huge wooden archways and the rows of neatly planted trees on either side of the path leading up to the building definitely hadn’t been there the last time she’d come to visit the region. Hell, even the trail itself that used to be just neatly cut grass had since been paved over with new marble stone. All the better to build up the excitement for aspiring trainers when they worked themselves up to be able to challenge the league, she supposed, at least if they were lucky or determined enough to even get there in the first place.】✧✧

✧✧【From the looks of it, Turffield was actually where they would be going to get to the first gym, a bit odd since she had honestly expected Motostoke to be their first badge stop when she’d seen the enormous gym stadium from the air when they’d flown over it to get to the outskirts. But apparently that was where the third gym was, and then it would be off further into the Wild Area to get to Hammerlocke from there once they got all three badges from the area. Still, the path of the gym challenges seemed fairly straightforward even if it did seem to require a lot of looping around to battle the ones outside of each major city before challenging the gyms in the cities themselves.
Either way it seemed Turffield, as its name implied, was home to the Grass type gym in particular, though that was hardly an obstacle since she happened to have at least three particularly strong Fire types on her. Gin would definitely come in handy for the Water gym in Hulbury afterwards, but it was the one in Motostoke that could possibly be a bit more challenging since she didn’t have many options that handled fire well aside from Rita, Absinthe, and her own Fire types. They’d definitely have to train up a bit more for that one in particular, at least if they were going to be able to handle that challenge in particular as effectively as possible. As for the rest of the gyms… Well, they’d worry about those after they got to Hammerlocke as far as she was concerned, if she’d still be invested enough in the gym challenge to continue afterwards at least.
Putting the phone away for now, Eveline turned her attention back to the tunnel entrance as Lambrusco, Soho, Sin, and Chardonnay reemerged. The Zorua grinned proudly as he handed over the star they’d found, the very last one. ”Very nicely done, everyone. This certainly would’ve taken much longer if it hadn’t been for your help,” Eveline said gratefully, offering a warm smile as she placed the star into her bag and grabbed their Pokeballs, ”For that, I think you all have earned a well-deserved rest.” Returning all of them one by one, including Lam, she heaved a tired breath as she placed their balls back on her belt. From behind her, Jaffa warbled curiously, the cloud bird shuffling a bit closer and puffing out his fluff a bit as he tilted his head inquisitively as if to say ‘Where to now?’ Wiping at her eyes to try and ward off the creeping drowsiness, Eveline grabbed ahold of the Altaria’s neck and pulled herself up and onto his back for what would surely be the next to last time.
”C’mon, mon ami,” she urged gently with a couple soft pats, ”Time for uz to go home.” With a joyful chirp, Jaffa spread his wings and aimed for the skies, taking to the air with a rush of wind and climbing higher and higher the further away they got from Victory Road and the Indigo Plateau. Minutes later the vast open ocean came into view as Kanto and Johto gradually became more and more distant, the sun already starting to set in the distance and casting bright, flaming orange and deep purple reflections on the water as they made quick headway back to Galar. Eveline, worn out and exhausted from all the traveling they’d done over the span of the day, gave a yawn as she leaned in to rest against the Altaria’s fluffy padding. It’d probably be some time before they got back to Wedgehurst, it wouldn’t hurt to get in a bit of rest on the way there, right?】✧✧
