A favor for the Sinister Survivor

User Image

If anyone is having a good time tonight, the Sinister Survivor certainly is. There is mirth in his voice, his rich, mellow laughter sounding every time you turn your back. He is conversing quietly with Prividaniye - it sounds like it might be an art deal, the conversation drifting back and forth between English and what might be Russian.

He spots you hovering, and turns away from his discussion for a moment.

"A favor?" he asks melodiously. "I deal only in information. Bring me some choice gossip, and then we'll talk."

To successfully complete the Sinister Survivor's favor, you must roll three six-sided die. These will select your solo/duo story elements! If an element has (Fail) next to it, disregard any further rolls and write a short post relating how you got there. You may then retry, but only after your first post is filled!

If you're soloing it, you just fill in that post with your character's progress through the favor. Should you choose to RP this favor with another player (or more than one friend!) please make a thread in the event forum and link it in your roll post when you're done.

FIRST DIE:
What topic will you gather information on?
1 - A scandalous affair!
2 - The Spinel Lady's opinions about the presidential election (fail)
3 - How the overdressed cactus manages to look so sharp (fail)
4 - A rigged competition!
5 - A murder most foul!
6 - A dramatic transformation!

SECOND DIE: Who will you be getting the information from?
1 - A plant-person dressed as a waiter
2 - A plant (fail)
3 - An elven socialite with platinum blonde hair and a very severe underbite
4 - What appears to be a terribly morose were-elephant, but can't be, right?
5 - A fly on the wall
6 - 57 mice in a trenchcoat

THIRD DIE:
Does your gossip satisfy the Sinister Survivor?
1 - No, he's heard this one before (fail)
2 - Yes, it's news to him
3 - It's an oldie but a goodie. He's pleased you dug this drama up.
4 - No, some things aren't talked about in polite company (fail)
5 - Yes, and he laughs uproariously - her? with them?!
6 - No, what you brought back is less gossip and more a straight-up lie. (fail)

Please quote Shibrogane when done for information dispersal!

The Sinister one wanted information. This, Shun could do. He nodded to the Stranger, then went off to see what he could pick up on.

Casually, he walked about the manor, keeping an ear out for anything potentially worth something. He saw a plant-person looking around shiftily before speaking with another person quietly, who seemed to be somewhat upset over something. Whatever it was they spoke about, the waiter apparently felt the need to try and keep it a secret.

Keeping his steps light, he walked on around in a roundabout way, before coming up to the corner near where the two were conversing. There, he just idly leaned against the wall and listened as carefully as he could.

"Now, now. Don't fret, love. I have some friends who can ensure your greatest competitors will... have some sort of accident. Nothing deadly, don't worry. But enough that it will throw them off their game. With Sarl and Caelyn not at the top of things, you will sweep the floor no problem. You will be the most beautiful dancer, and the judges will be dazzled."

Well that was incriminating. Shun slunk away back the way he came. The two conspirators were completely unaware of their eavesdropper. The detective made his way back towards the Survivor to deliver this tidbit he had picked up on, giving the descriptions of the two that had been speaking as well.

The Sinister Survivor smiles. "Is that so? How interesting. I suppose you've earned a little information, then. Here it is: Keep your mask on. To take it off is to volunteer to be the tithe."

Thanks for playing! Please do another favor thread before coming back to this one!

Nathaniel Parrish - 25 / 25 - gossip mongering

He thought he'd had it down - a murder was definitely gossip worthy news - but most unfortunately for Nathaniel, the one in the plague doctor mask seemed to have already heard it all. It was a disappointment; Nathaniel sloped woefully back to the elephant...were-elephant...whatever it was...and tried not to look too disappointed.

Maybe he could find other gossip somewhere else...

Time to try a new tactic.

"Look, I just - well, see, there was this elephant - at least, I think it was an elephant - I man, I wasn't entirely sure what it was, but there was this thing about a contest, and something about cheating, and everything, and I thought maybe you should know - no? Well, okay. No, no, I'm going!"

Nathaniel Parrish - 25 / 25 - more gossip mongering

Maybe if he tried again, he'd get some good dish.

Or not.

Nathaniel thought he'd probably run out of needle puns too soon.

Nathaniel Parrish - 25 / 25 - more gossip mongering

He thought he heard something from the one lady about the upcoming election - or maybe he'd just imagined it. Maybe he should really stop getting on a certain someone's bad side, Nathaniel hastily scampering away from her in his quest for more gossip.

Nathaniel Parrish - 25 / 25 - more gossip mongering

"There was a murder," said Nathaniel, in his most conspiratorial voice as he leaned close to the plague doctor's ear. "A murder, most foul - there was a whole chicken involved and everything, maybe some doves, you see, but you know - "

The fly had given him some good dish, Nathaniel thought, feeling vaguely proud of himself for this.

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Getting information from plants

Okay, Gossip. Chris could do gossip, the whole entire teacher's office was gossip practically. The thing about finding information was just to stay quiet and act like you weren't listening - if you did it right, then no one would think you were listening and you could get away with anything.

Chris had employed it many times and this time was no different, him leaning by some plants near a promising group of partygoers. It only took him a minute to get information which was surprising, something about a rigged competition. He looked around, wondering how he could have come across this, and then realize that he had inadvertently asked the plants behind him.

While it was possible it was good gossip, he wasn't willing to risk it. Thanking the plant silently, he wandered off, trying to find another group.

Chris Watts || 25/25 || Finally getting the Good Stuff

After wandering around the room and gathering himself a glass of wine (to look more casual, of course), Chris settled back upon a wall. It wasn't long though that he found gossip again, although not exactly from the group he was staking out but rather a fly on the wall.

Other Ashdown was too literal sometimes.

Nonetheless, he took the information back to the guy (noting with some amount of discomfort that he had tried to steal food from him earlier. how awkward), whispering to him quietly "Well, I've heard about this affair, you see..."

Whoever the people were, it seemed to have a wonderful effect on the stranger.

Autumn and these plants were turning into a thing. Only it seemed, this time, this one wasn't living. Not an Otherbeing at all. Whoops. Bad call. Perhaps she was back at it with the wine again.

The whole gossip story made very little sense to Autumn, but it might've been the wine talking. There was something to do with a were-elephant murdering people...? Or would it even be a were-elephant? Were were-wolves even a thing? Well, no. It wouldn't be a wolf. It'd either be a moon-elephant or a were-elephant. No wolves involve. Nonetheless, Autumn brought the gossip as was requested of her, retelling the details as best as she could. Were-or-moonwalker-elephants would be a question for Pax at a later date, when people she knew (or sort-of knew, in Alois's case) were prone to possibly being murdered.

"...And that's how they ended up together. I think," she finished lamely, rubbing the back of her head absently.

It was getting hard to keep all of this s**t straight, really.
