Chel | 25/25 | Forgetting Her Job
Chel had promised to gather information for a guy.
Chel had promptly forgotten her task once she'd noticed who was standing next to a rather pointy looking cactus. Yeah okay, the guy would definitely want info on a cactus.
"Hello tall, dark and don't look as good as me," she said, sidling up to the green giant. "Come here often? Askin' fer a friend."medigel FIRST DIE: What topic will you gather information on? 3 - How the overdressed cactus manages to look so sharp (fail)

Jack | 25/25 | Taking Photographic Evidence
It was a fascinating gathering of the eldritch and the fae, and everything in between. Several figures exuded perilous auras, others a strange sort of warmth (or literally fire in one case), still more with varying degrees of ambivalence. Jack didn't know how to take it all in so quickly, but he was doing his best--and attempting to be in favor of the more accessible ones when he saw his opportunities.
"My god," he deadpanned in return, "someone actually dressed you decently." Because in no way, shape, or form would he believe Chel understood true fashion. "I wouldn't've pegged you as a ball person."

Chel watched him taking it in and let him snap a few more of the area before raising a hand to lower his arm. Look with your eyes, not the camera. Something about living in the moment.
"Yeah well, Shun said he was comin' to this an' I don't trust magic so I figured he'd need backup one way or another." Chel would charge headfirst into The Enemy for her friends, that was always true.
"An' what about you? Yer probably eatin' all this s**t up yeah?" Jack loved this kind of thing, she knew.

"Like a banquet," he affirmed with a grim smile, unfazed by the interruption. It was a little hard to enjoy the festivities anyway when one was in the midst of a true soon-to-be-murder mystery party. "Why would he bring you as back up? You don't have any training in something, do you?"

Chel leaned in very close like she was going to reveal a great secret.
"M'actually an undercover FBI agent. Have been the whole time."

He leaned down in turn. "Well then, agent, you're gonna have a field day here too. I imagine the paperwork for this will be hell to explain back at headquarters."

Chel snickered, pleased to be princess charming for the night.
The snicker turned into a wary sigh. "S'kinda hard t'enjoy this fancy s**t when so much bullshit is goin' on though ..."

"Yeah." His gaze wandered towards some of the other guests. "Have you tried getting information out of some of them?"

"Yeah, that's what I been doin'. Talkin' t'people's all m'good at y'know."
She didn't want to admit how terribly it had been going talking to people though. "By the way, don't take off yer mask, hun. F'you take it off you get marked fer sacrifice or whatever. An' puttin' it back on doesn't help."
Somewhat nervously she adjusted her mask so it sat on her face better. Chel looked more paranoid that she usually did, actually a bit frightened all things considered. But she put on a brave face as best she could. "You seen a guy named Thorne? Not a ton of clothing, nice hair? He's got a clone or somethin' an' m'tryin' t'figure it out before- ..." Before what? She honestly didn't know. She'd just been chugging without stopping for fear of this so called tithe.

Chilled, he adjusted his mask in turn. "Doesn't ring a bell," he replied, frowning. "Fae doppelgängers on top of everything else? Great." Why wouldn't there be? He'd just seen cats turn to dust and a man on fire.
"Let's...move forward together," Jack suggested. "In case something happens." What if more clones could crop up while they were there? "Worst comes to worst, you'll remember I have a great right hook."

"Yes sir, master commander, sir," she said, giving a very somber salute, something somewhat ironic considering her regal attire.
Her face dropped into something a little more serious and she reached up to pinch his cheek gently. "I can take care ah myself an' we'll learn more f'we split up Scooby style."

With a flat look he nudged her hand off. "You know those idiots always got chased by the monster when they did that, right?"

"They found the guy in the end!" she argued.
"An' we won't have a good story without it," she continued with a grin, "Anyways, I gotta go find him either way. You can come with or not, s'whatever."
