THE FAIRY BALL

    rules.
      In addition to the rules on the front page of hte shop, there are a few other things you need to do as part of this event.

      In every post, you will lead with a header of the character you're posting for, their current HP count, and the tl;dr of what they're doing. So a header should look like one of these:
      Quote:
      Aleksy Spektor: 14/25, examining the bookshelf for clues
      Finn Derouen: 25/25, in conversation with Melany
      Prividaniye: 0/25, attempting to persuade Aleksy
      Your Mom: 23/25, healing Prividaniye
      Archduke Leopold van Hammerschmark: 21/25, shooting a gun at Your Mom
      Melany: 6/25, fighting Archduke Leopold van Hammerschmark

      If you are acting towards another character in your post, such as attacking, healing, or grabbing someone and getting the hell out of dodge, please include that character's name in your header.

      Also, solo routes (doing favors for NPC persuasion) must be complete before you can get the information from that NPC.

    combat.
      Combat will be very simple. Combatants roll 1d20 per round. The lower number takes five damage. Everyone has a pool of 25hp, which is persistent throughout the meta: unless healed by another character, your hit points will not increase or decrease outside of combat. Should both combatants agree (oocly), the fight can end or be interrupted before a combatant is knocked out. Reaching zero means that your character cannot join any other fights for the rest of the meta unless healed by a character with a healing ability. Some fights have the chance to end in death or incapacitation: these will be clearly labeled and clearly avoidable.

      There are some exceptions to the five damage rule:
        >Your character has a firearm. Firearms inflict 10 damage, but they also subtract 3 points from your roll. You must call that you're using a firearm when you make your original roll and this cannot be retracted.
        >Your character is using magic. Magic inflicts 10 damage, absolute, no matter what your opponent rolls, but it takes a round for your character to focus enough to make it do. So you'd call magic (with no roll) in the first round, take 5 damage from your opponent, and in the second round (if you're still standing) your opponent takes ten damage from you.
        >Your character is healing another. Healing doesn't require a roll. You just post that you're healing and who the target is, and they regain 5 health. You can't attack and heal on the same round.

      If you think that your character has a combat-applicable Dreamer or Riser power, you may post in this thread to get a +2 to all of your rolls except magic or firearm rolls. If you think your character should have a larger pool of health, please go ahead and post here to make your argument. You should also ask questions here in this thread.

      ADDENDUM:
      In a 2v1 situation where one character is attempting to block for another, all characters still roll. Blocking doesn't automatically succeed. For the block to be successful, both characters (blocker and blockee) have to roll above the attacker. The attacker takes no damage in this situation.

      Formula:
      A = Attacker
      B = Blocker
      C = Defended

      A outrolls B + C: A succeeds in attacking C, C takes 5 damage.
      A outrolls B, but not C: B takes 5 damage, block is successful.
      A outrolls C, but not B: B fails to block, but does cause damage to A. A + C take 5 damage.
      A is outrolled by both B and C: No one takes damage. Block is successful.

    persuasion.
      Making it successfully through the meta will be largely predicated on the characters' ability to find the information they need in a timely manner. Persuasion in the court of the Sorrowful One is not an easy thing, however, and the denizens thereof are trickier than a character might expect.

      Persuasion is based on a single d20 roll for every question you ask or favor you request. This means if you make one roll to get an NPC to give you an answer to your question, that doesn't carry over and mean they'll answer your next question. You must roll anew for every new question.

      Each NPC has a different threshold for persuasion, which will be marked in the "cast" post of each thread. The lower the number, the easier to persuade. Low-rating NPCs are unlikely to have valuable information to share, however. Each NPC also has a "favor" you can do for them to automatically get the information they have. These will be completed as solo threads in the event forum of the guild.

      Sharing information will be vital to the event. The Scarlet Foyer and the Plum Parlor are combat-free spaces, and therefore safe to use for Purposes. Whether your characters discover this fact is up to you.

      There are no buffs available for the persuasion mechanic, as the denizens of the Court are impervious to that sort of thing.

      You may, however, earn roll modifiers (both positive and negative) with individual denizens based on your conduct. Being particularly boorish might earn you a subtraction to future rolls, while playing nice has the potential earn you temporary or permanent additions.

Leila can increase her mass, which in turn can increase the force behind an attack. I'd like to claim a combat bonus! :3

Like to request a larger HP pool for Jeremiah due to his danger sense and dragon hide abilities.

Also for character abilities that are attack based .. do those take a turn to pull off (like magic) or are they instants?

Would like to request a combat bonus for Algie should he decide to use a book as a weapon (per his ability).

...and he always carries a book of some kind (or 2).

Autumn Smith can heal others with her magic, so I'd like to claim a healing bonus!
Edit- she also can horse-kick, so possible combat bonus with KICKING ONLY when fighting? Punches or anything else don't get it.

Use your better judgement as far as attack-based abilities. If the character has to concentrate, it's better functioning on magic rules. If it's something they can apply immediately, roll for it as usual.

Jeremiah's HP pool is now 27 points.

Algie receives a +1 to combat rolls when he uses a book as a weapon. You must call that he's using a book in your original post. (AKA before you know what your roll is)

Autumn gets a +1 to combat when kicking only. You have to call that she's kicking in your post when you originally roll.

Requesting combat bonus for Rylan:

His Think Fast riser power lets him react to external forces. He can also throw fireballs? Maybe that falls under magic though.

When Rylan uses his Think Fast power, he receives a +2 to combat rolls.

Fireballs will act as a regular combat roll and he will receive no bonus.

Shun's dreamer power allows him to more sneak up on people more easily - would this grant him a bonus to the approaching npc rolls?

Also if not actually trying to ask questions but just trying to eavesdrop, what would need to be done?
