Strengths:
He's a pacifist. He'll typically avoid violence and rather try to negotiate (not the Corben Dallas way), or call law enforcement. Or just plain run. Curious and a quick learner. Very responsible and protective of those dear to him. Pretty high tolerance for pain. He's got practice. >>
Flaws:
Can be extremely stubborn and impatient. Can get very snarky and downright rude if you press the wrong buttons. Extremely wary of magic or what he thinks is magic. He used to be downright terrified due to a traumatic experience, but by now has overcome his fears to the point he's actually started to learn the craft. He still has a lot of misconceptions about it though. Terrified of portals. That does include magical portals, teleport devices, hyperspace and artificial wormholes a la Stargate. As a result he's barely ever been off Gaia. Terrified of black hooded robes. Smokes. Easily distracted. Particularly by females and fiery things.
General:
He's typically very good-natured and laid-back, with a very dry sense of humor. Knows his pop culture references well. He's very social, and usually gets along with pretty much everyone. Usually very confident in his behaviour, but will immediately become skittish and nervous in the presence of magic. Has a thing for fiery creatures such as salamanders and dragons. Loves volcanos. Likes his comfort and modern technology. Outdoors, camping and hiking are very definitely not his thing—he hates bugs. Likes gardening. Very health conscious, works out regularly. He also is a bit of a foodie and eats mostly vegetarian. He also manages to remain an atheist in a world where Gods have been established as a fact. Try that.

Elemental:
Amon's element is fire. He has suppressed this ability for most of his life and only recently started to learn how to control it, so his control sucks. He packs a lot of oomph!, but collateral damage is a given until he gets in more practice. Also—just like Dany in GoT—he's pretty much fire resistant and heat doesn't bother him.
Magic:
He has only just now started to learn, so he knows a whole of two spells. Yay?
Escort:
As a high class escort (do think along the lines of geishas, or the "companions" in Firefly—providing entertainment and conversation, acting as company for social events ect. rather than being a mere prostitute) Amon possesses a number of skills specific to his profession. He is well versed in etiquette and conversation, knows the most common ballroom dances, plays piano and the acoustic guitar and can sing decently. *cough*Damon Albarn voiceclaim*cough* He is also an expert massager and stripper. He also has excellent very elegant penmanship which is something the Madame insists upon for all her employees.
Physical:
He knows a form of Bharatanatyam dancing and does it extremely well, though he typically does not perform in public. Has dabbled into various martial arts.
Perception:
Very perceptive when it comes to body language, due to his profession.
Other:
Knows how to handle a gun, practices regularly at a shooting range, has decent aim.
Weaknesses:
Monster magnet / demon bait. Due to a pretty messed up spell on his soul Amon tends to attract demons and fae creatures that feed on humans. Even if they are not malevolent—like, say, a good-natured vampire—there is a good chance they might lose control over their hunger due to that spell. Amon has had several very narrow brushes with death thanks to it. He is currently not yet aware of the spell. Very susceptible to magical allures. Gets cold quickly, usually spends winter not in Dürem but somewhere sunny and warm if he can help it.

Friends:
Athan is considered a very good friend and a bit of a father figure. It is largely thanks to him (and his immense patience) Amon has finally learned to overcome his fear of magic.
Brianna Winterblossom a.k.a. "Madame Bree" is Amon's employer as well as a sisterly friend, though she occasionally treats him like she owns him. xd She was the one to get him off the street when he was a teen and provide education and a job, so he feels greatly indebted to her. Amon has only recently become aware she actually is a fairy.
Reyna Crelos is his friend with benefits—which equals a bit of a death wish considering she's a demon and it has ended him up in the hospital numerous times, oops. Other than that they just like to hang out, share a nice cold beer and exchange gossip (preferably about Athan and Bree) or b***h about people they do not like. She likes to refer to him as her "pet". He doesn't mind. xd
Family:
Amaranthe is his sister and the only family he occasionally still has contact to. She is his fraternal twin from a different father. They share the eye color and some facial features but otherwise they look nothing alike. She is extremely pale, and usually has her brunette hair dyed black and wears purple contacts. She typically wears gothic outfits and heavy makeup. Amaranthe still remains extremely devoted and loyal to the religious sect which raised the two of them, and has given up her brother's whereabouts to them numerous times, which has forced him to move several times. Unlike her brother, whom she considers "special", Amaranthe has no talent for magic. at. all. although she has a deep longing for it. She is a bit gullible and naive, and not entirely sane. She'll sacrifice fluffy bunnies, kittens and other cute animals to her "god" without a second thought. It is a little scary how she can expertly slash about pretty much any creature's throat to let them bleed out. And eviscerate and skin them. She is a skilled seamstress and baker. She also is dyslexic, which occasionally gets in the way of her baking and very definitely in the way of her attempts to do "magic".
Amon's mother is deceased, his father's identity and whereabouts are unknown.
Enemies:
Nephrite is the Shadow bound to his soul. He has recently kicked her out of his house after she tried to poison his sister.
Cultists. The members of the occult sect that raised him are still after him.

Some time back Amon and Nephrite where forced to move out of his downtown loft apartment and were offered this house by his employer "Madame Bree". It came complete with an overgrown garden, a derelict little glasshouse and a lot of work to do.
By now the property has been largely restored. The garden is being used as a kitchen garden to grow herbs and vegetables for the most part.
Since Nephrite moved out, the glasshouse she used for her exotic plants now serves as a new home for Amon's collection of chili plants, and her room have been refurbished into a small office/reading space for Amon's studies.
About half a mile behind the garden there are strange mounds which sort of resemble termite hives, but actually they are pixie hives. Amon usually places a plate of cookies and a bowl of honeyed milk on the back porch in the evening to stay on their good side (Athan's advice). As a result, he has to sweep pixie dust off the porch on a regular base, but at least they haven't caused any mischief yet.
They house is magically veiled against being found in general (which has previously led to trouble with all sorts of delivery services) is and warded to keep Nephrite out in particular—even if she'd find the house, she would not be able to get in.
This is actually the longest Amon has ever been able to live in one place. He very much considers this house his home now and refuses to move again. It says a lot that he'd rather face his fear of magic and have it warded against certain trespassers and troublemakers.

After she tried to poison his sister Amaranthe, Amon has finally banned Nephrite from his home. He even had Athan ward the grounds and the house for him so she can't sneak her way back in. She had tried to drug him on numerous occasions before, causing him to become increasingly paranoid, so this really only was the last straw.
Since their soul bond unfortunately cannot be undone without causing harm to himself and Nephrite (and because he is entirely too good-natured) Amon has begrudgingly set her up to live in his old apartment for now.
This event also was the trigger for him to finally start learning magic from Athan. So far he knows a whole of two spells.
He also got his right eye restored not too long ago.
He is currently involved in the "Somebody's Eden" metaplot.

This is not common knowledge. The only ones to actually know the full story would be those involved back then, and Madame Bree. Athan may have pieced most of it together, Reyna at least some of it. Those who dabble into the occult may have heard rumors about the event but wouldn't necessarily connect it to Amon.
The Silverchair family members are—and have been for generations—devoted members of an occult sect which worships a demon "god". Said "god" actually really is more of a tiny unsightly demonic parasite (reverently referred to as their god's "essence") who physically possesses humans for a more attractive body. Due to a manufactured prophecy Amon was deemed to be the next "blessed child", the next vessel for their so-called "god". As a result he grew up very sheltered in their underground quarters, and virtually clueless about the world. Since his soul was to become demon fodder anyway, it was deemed best to leave it as much of a tabula rasa as possible and no one bothered to teach him anything. Pretty much his only social contact was his sister Amaranthe who deeply envied his special position to become the next physical incarnation of their god.
At age fourteen he was deemed "ready", put into nice robes and pretty jewelry for his ritual—
—and then taken to the sect's grand hall full of chanting cultists in back robes to have a spell carved into his back which would make possession extremely easy (that was the intent at least), and his right eye carved out to create a physical entrance into his body for their "god". The horror of it triggered his latent fire element to manifest full force for the first time—he literally burned everyone in the hall to a crisp.
Ever since he's made his escape, the sect has been trying to track him down to complete the sacrifice. His own sister keeps stalking him and has several times given up his whereabouts to her fellow cultists.which is the reason for Amon's frequent moves, including the last one together with Nephrite. Hence Nephrite's intense dislike for Amaranthe.
From Amaranthe's POV she is doing nothing bad. She is deeply devoted to her sect and their "god", and is actually jealous of her brother being the Chosen One. If she could take his place as sacrifice to become the next physical body of her god, she would do it in a heartbeat.
So, yeah, that would explain why Amon is so extremely terrified and suspicious of all things occult, magic, black robes and his own element in general.
