The mall was a fantastic place to collect energy from eager shoppers. People usually had something on their mind, whether they were with friends, family, or running errands by themselves, so they didn't pay too much attention to their surroundings unless there was something they wanted to buy.

That also meant they weren't all that attentive about the energy they were spending or having stolen from them. A mirrorwraith could easily slip through a crowd or store with many shadows and obstacles to hide behind, making it easy for them to go around undetected. Energy signatures were another matter, however.

Ptolemaeus kept to the outsides of the stores in the areas closest to the ceiling because he knew most mall-goers didn't bother looking up. It also made it easier to hide behind store names and signs, allowing him to slink around inconspicuously to make sure he could keep track of his wraith.

He didn't expect to be allowed to go about his business for very long without some powered being of an Order alignment showing up to keep him in check. That was how it usually went, but by now he was fairly used to the routine. In fact, not only did he expect it, but he looked forward to and enjoyed such confrontations.
