Pearl quietly made her way in to the living room. Her dad, Likais, was napping quite peacefully on the couch, still recuperating from imbue so many stones back to back. Pearl didn't know all that much about stones, but what she did know was that it usually exhausted whoever was imbuing, and that babies came from doing so. At least usually. The goblin-litch was torn. Did she want to risk waking her father open? The little girl nibbled gentle on her claws, hesitating. But as her father rolled over in his sleep, Pearl was sure of what she wanted: she wanted snuggled. Picking up her tail and walking over to the couch, Pearl neatly crawled over her dad's limbs and tucked in to the space between the back of the couch and the line of his back, facing away from him as she squished herself in, tail curling around her hands. Pearl just needed to feel mortal touch ...

Likais stirred in his sleep, his lashes gently fluttering as he tried to open his eyes. Colour and light were a bit of a blur, but his sense of touch was still as good as it ever was. He could feel someone climbing over him, felt them squeeze in to the crevice behind him, and he let out a low purr. Likais knew right away it was his little munchkin, and he carefully rolled around to scoop her up in to his arms and kiss the top of her head. "Hello, monkey." Likais said affectionately, voice a bit groggy. "Why aren't you at school ... ?"

Pearl let out a small squeak as she felt her dad's arms wrap around her and pull her in. She was so, so busted. But the hug felt nice, and Pearl felt herself sinking further against her father, allowing herself this small comfort. "I didn't want to go today ... " she admitted openly, not able to lie. "I just stayed really quiet until Aerilon left so he'd think I left already and then I came out of hiding ... " Pearl twisted around to face her dad, sad little pale pink eyes peering up at him with tears in her eyes. "Am I in trouble?"

Likais gave her a rather quizzical look. "Trouble?" he asked, as if trying to make sure he had heard his daughter right. "By the Nine, why would you be in trouble? You're allowed to take a day here and there."Likais' expression grew more concerned as he noticed the tears in Pearl's eyes, moving his head back to get a better look at his daughter's face. "Hey, now ... why the tears, monkey?" Likais carefully wiped at Pearl's eyes, being mindful so as not to claw her.

"I thought you'd be mad if you found out I skipped school!" Pearl burrowed her face in to her father's shirt, giving a heavy sigh as she clutched at the flimsy, gauzy fabric with her sharp claws and tried not to shake too badly. She wouldn't allow herself to cry. "School's not fun anymore, daddy ... I don't want to go anymore. I just want to stay home with you and not have to deal with it anymore ... "

"Oooookaaay ... !" Likais pushed himself to sitting up, scooping Pearl in to his lap as he shifted. Something was wrong. While normally he would let Pearl figure it out and sort it out on her own, she seemed genuinely troubled and dismayed. "What's going on, kiddo? Tell your dad what's wrong."

Pearl tried her best not to start sobbing. Her whole body was twitching and jerking as she made snuffling noises, clinging to the front of her father as if for dear life. She didn't want to admit she was having problems at school, or that she wasn't able to handle them on her own. But Pearl felt she had always been weak, unable to stick up for herself, and now more than ever she felt like that was all the more true. "People are being mean to me at school ... " her voice was little more than a whimper. "First they stole my ball. But then they started following me around and calling me names. And now they know my whole day and they intentionally try and make me cry ... and I always do even though I know that's all they want from me. I just don't want to go to school anymore, not with them there ... "

Likais' lips pursed together in an angry, annoyed expression. Someone -- someones -- was making his little girl cry. He wasn't going to let this continue. There was absolutely no way such behaviour would be allowed to happen to his child. "Oh." Likais said, rising to his feet, holding Pearl on one curvaceous hip, arm keeping her snug against his side. "Let us put an end to these awful, mean shenanigans then, shall we?" Likais started to head for the kitchen. He would place a call with Ava and explain why Pearl was absent today and demand that Ava make sure Pearl's stalker bullies were appropriately handled. "I've got you, my girl. Don't you worry."

Pearl looked up at her father, eyes still glossy and muted from crying. Was it really as so simple as having a parent intervene? Pearl had to admit, under her father's arm, feeling as close as she did, it felt like nothing could ever hurt her again. She almost felt ... confident. "Thank you, daddy ... " her voice was quiet and fragile sounding as she snuggled in to her father's side, a small, gentle smile forming on her lips. "I'll tell you everything ... if it'll help ... " Pearl felt so very soothed ...

"We'll get it sorted, my munchkin." Likais bent down to kiss the top of Pearl's head once more, than smooched one of her long goblin ears before reaching for the phone in the kitchen. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all to put the Academy on speed dial. Otherwise he'd likely have to search for the number online. The phone rang, and rang, and rang, and then .... "Hi, yes. This is Likais, Pearl Diamond's father calling. I need to speak with Headmistress Ava, please. It's a bit urgent."Likais gave Pearl a reassuring squeeze as he felt her nuzzle in to his side, glancing down to meet her large, sad eyes with a smile. "You're safe now, my gem." he whispered to her. Pearl's expression softened with a happy glow as she nestled back in, and Likais returned his attention to the phone as he was paged through. "Yes ... Ava? This is Likais. I need to talk to you about Pearl ... "
