The Cross Residence An ordinary light blue house in Vermillion City Accessible from Vermillion City.
This is the only house that Alex has known and he lived there until his journey started. His father is rarely at home and that's how it's always been, but it's probably the reason Alex wanted to be a trainer so badly. Lucia is pretty much always at home and raised Alex for the most part, by herself. Despite being alone now most of the time, she is happy that Alex was able to take after his father and start his travels as a trainer. It's clear that the Cross family truly care about pokemon.
The house is your typical two-story home in the Kanto region. As you enter, there is a set of stairs off to the right. The first floor has an open floorplan with the living room to the left of the front door. The kitchen is toward the back of the house with the bathroom mostly hidden behind the stairs. The top floor has a master bedroom to the left as you make it up the stairs. There is another bathroom between the master bedroom and Alex's bedroom. His room is a light shade of blue that would remind anyone of the ocean. The room is pretty ordinary with the main furniture being a desk, bed, and dresser. The room is decorated with lots of water pokemon merchandise and also quite a few trophies and ribbons from many years of competitive swimming.
Abel Cross Abel is a pokemon trainer who is always travelling and rarely found at home. He has always had a deep connection with pokemon and has accomplished a lot in his travels to all the regions.
Lucia Cross Lucia is a pokemon groomer who makes a living helping people with their pokemon. At times she does travel outside of Vermillion City, but is usually busy enough with work at home.

Dragonair Dragonair is a pokemon that is like a member of the family. She recently evolved from a Dratini while Alex was away on his journey as a trainer. The dragon type was a gift from Abel to Lucia a number of years back. Dragonair has been loyal to the Cross family and helps around the house. Lately she has been helping Lucia with her grooming in whatever way she can.

Alex closed the door behind him and called out. "I'm back." He said, while looking off toward the kitchen, seeing his mom in the back of the house. She was making some pokemon food, most likely for Dragonair who was nearby. It didn't take her long to stop what she was doing and turned. There was already a smile on her face as she quickly approached, clearly happy to hear her son's voice again."Oh, Alex, it's nice to have you ba-"His mom stopped mid sentence as she noticed the Eevee on his shoulder. All thoughts of a reunion with Alex left her mind as she brushed some of her long hair out of her eyes to get a better look."This must be the Eevee your father was telling me about, she's so cute."Alex couldn't help, but chuckle as it was true this was a pokemon he had received from his father in order to really learn about pokemon personalities. "Seems you're famous, Eevee." He teased the normal type as she gave him a dirty look, clearly not liking the comment about being cute. It was true, but Eevee wouldn't have any of it. As his mom was busy admiring Eevee, Dragonair came over and could pretty much look Alex in the eyes now. "You finally evolved into a Dragonair? That's so awesome." The dragon type was glad to see Alex again, she was always doting on him, so it wasn't too surprising.["I'm glad to see my worrying was for nothing, doesn't seem like you've changed a bit."]At least for the moment, things really just seemed to have gone back to normal.

After the initial reunion they made their way to the living room. It was much more comfortable sitting on the couch with his backpack off. Eevee was next to him, clearly wanting to keep close to her trainer. It seemed that his mom was wanting to give the small normal type as much help with grooming as possible. Eevee wasn't the type to worry about keeping her fur perfect, being a little dirty never killed anybody.["I see what you mean now."]She said with a bit of a sigh, which Alex could easily understand at this point. "Sorry, mom, she has always been this way, but Eevee's always been there for me." Dragonair was glad to hear Alex say such a thing, so at least the small normal type could rest easy with Eevee helping.["Thanks for taking care of him, Eevee."]The dragon type said, before moving to a comfortable spot nearby. Alex's mom seemed a little upset by seeing how Eevee was shying away from her, but the explanation appeared to smooth things over at least."Alright, if you say so, I guess she is still cute, even with the lack of grooming."Alex let out a sigh as he knew that was just a way to remind him that he was never interested in becoming a groomer. "Well, either way, the journey has been a whole lot of fun, but I'm nowhere near done. I'm actually here to challenge the gym. I think I have all the pieces in order to take it on." He said in an attempt to change the conversation.

Changing the subject worked well as Alex had brought up challenging the gym. It wasn't that surprising that he was back for that reason, but it was still nice to hear that he was doing well on his journey."Oh that's good to hear, are you sure you can win? You always did like water pokemon best, but the gym uses electric types."He did like water types the best, but he had learned that other pokemon types could be very helpful. "They still are, but being around different types has shown me that I don't just need to stick with pure water types. I know I can win, even against an electric gym." Alex said, knowing that he could only have learned this through first hand knowledge. His mother seemed to be happy to hear that Alex had been willing to raise other types of pokemon. It was also good that he seemed to be confident enough to have a good idea of what he was doing."That's great, I hope you manage to win. So, how is your starter pokemon doing? I assume you picked a Squirtle."It was pretty obvious that he was going to pick a Squirtle and he did. Alex nodded and chuckled a bit. "She's doing really good, though she's not a Squirtle anymore." He said, before getting up and adjusting the furniture a bit, before he let Blastoise out of her pokeball. Luckily, she wasn't the type to wander around too much, so it wouldn't be a problem.

His mom watched on curiously as Alex adjusted the furniture. This could only mean one thing, it had evolved. This was reassured when he said so himself. Dragonair also watched on, clearly interested in the progress Alex had made. Eventually, Alex released the pokemon from the pokeball and Blastoise appeared, not just any Blastoise, a Mega Evolved one. His mother was quite surprised by this development as she had only heard recently about this new method of evolving pokemon."Oh, goodness. A mega Blastoise? Your dad would be jealous, this must be the newly discovered way to evolve further."Alex was a little shocked that his mom knew right away, but his dad usually did update her on interesting finds. He looked toward Blastoise and smiled a bit. "Sorry for letting you out so suddenly. We finally made it home, this is my mom and that over there is Dragonair." Alex said, gesturing to the both of them in order. Blastoise was blinking, clearly trying to wake from a nap. She was confused at first, but it made sense when her trainer explained.["...oh, hello. Alex's mother chuckled a bit at the explanation and smiled a bit. Two pokemon and already they couldn't be any more different. This wasn't the first trainer she knew who was like this. Her attention turned toward Blastoise as she replied."It's nice to meet you, please, make yourself at home. The space is a little limited."Alex was happy that so far things were working out alright. Again, he couldn't help, but hug the large pokemon a bit more. "I've always wanted a Blastoise, and I couldn't have asked for a better pokemon." Blastoise looked toward Alex's mother and then toward her trainer.["Thank you... don't worry about it... we make a good team."]Eevee was used to this kind of thing, so the normal type stayed on the couch, obviously getting comfortable. Once Alex had cleaned up and made his way back down, they had supper. It had been a long time since he had supper with his mom, so it was a nice change of pace. This of course was better since he was able to share it with his pokemon as well. His mom was a pokemon groomer, so it wasn't too difficult to have some more made for his pokemon. Eevee was stubborn like always, but she did end up enjoying the food. Blastoise wasn't worried one way or the other and ate at her own pace. This of course was what was to be expected. Dragonair went about her normal routine as she didn't mind sharing with Alex's friends. His mom was using this time as best as she could to catch up with her son and find out all about his adventure. He would probably be leaving the next day, but this was something she knew all too well. She would support him in whichever way she could. This time it was meeting his pokemon, that would for sure make the next time he visits even better.
After Alex was done eating himself, he decided to introduce his other pokemon and feed them as well. He did his best to give each of them their own time. First was Skarmory, then Umbreon, third up was Marshtomp, fourth was Croconaw and of course the last one would be a big surprise to his mother. Blastoise had started to take a nap in the corner, using her shell to her full advantage. Eevee was comfortable on the couch and conversing with Dragonair. He looked toward his mom and smiled a bit. "I saved the best for last though, this pokemon is special and I promised to help show her how trainers and pokemon can form a strong bond, even when battling." His mom of course liked the sound of that and was interested to know as Alex let Cresselia out of her pokeball. "I'd like you to meet Cresselia." It took a moment for his mom to seemingly react as it didn't seem to register right away. Soon though, she couldn't help, but smile a bit at the fact that her son somehow had become the trainer of a legendary pokemon."A real legendary pokemon? You should be proud, your father has always been hoping to come across a pokemon like her."Her attention turned to Cresselia next as Alex was clearly proud about what she had just said."Hello, Cresselia, I'm Alex's mother, it's an honor to meet a being such as yourself."Cresselia looked toward Alex and then toward his mother as she now could see where his hair color came from. Despite it being sudden, Cresselia caught on quickly to what was going on, so she just did as usual and replied directly into their minds so everyone could hear her speak."It's a pleasure to meet you. There is no need to be so formal, I am just like any other pokemon."Of course, Cresselia was used to that reaction by now, but she always wanted humans and pokemon to not treat her any different. Alex was excited when they first met, but he didn't treat her and differently than the rest of his pokemon. Of course, she knew he would be careful since others might not always be the same around her.

Alex headed to his room and went to sleep for the night. Eevee followed him up and as usual, went to sleep at the same time. Blastoise was still fine sleeping where she was. His mother stayed up, along with Cresselia and Dragonair. It was nice, finally actually understanding Dragonair with the help of the legendary pokemon. Eventually, Lucia went to sleep, while leaving the two pokemon on their own. They did stay up longer than expected, but even they found themselves asleep until the morning.
The morning came and Alex began getting ready for his important gym battle. Eevee made her way downstairs as her trainer showered and got dressed, feeling much better, doing the old routine once again. Once he was done, he headed down the stairs and ate breakfast. His mom had been up for awhile and was glad to have her son at home at least for a little while longer. Alex had put Blastoise back into her pokeball, knowing she would be fine if the water type was needed for the battle. This left Cresselia and Eevee out still, which was good to come up with the best plan for the upcoming gym challenge.

Alex had made his way back over to the couch with Eevee and Cresselia nearby. He was excited to head for the gym and face the next challenge on his journey. His attention turned toward Eevee as he spoke to her. "I can't wait, this should be a good battle no matter how we go about this." He said with a grin as it was clear he was ready, but still a little too happy about it. Eevee smiled a bit and shook her head slightly.["As usual, you're far too excited, I'm sure you already know what you're going to do."]Alex chuckled a bit, not sure what Eevee had said, but it was probably just what he needed to hear. Doing so again might feel like cheating in a way, but it really wasn't. Despite that, he was happy with giving his pokemon a chance to battle, no matter if there was any type advantage or not. He said, clearly happy to show Eevee where he came from before they met.
