“Whoa...this wasn’t here before, was it?” Ptolemaeus asked to no one in particular, craning his neck back to try to see the top of the flight of spiraling stairs. "I mean I know things are always changing in this place, but would one of the royals make something like this? Where does it go?"
Curious, he took a tentative step onto the first of the floating steps, unsure if it would hold his weight or if it might be some kind of trap. Evidently these steps were here for a reason, but was it the intention of a dark mirror senshi that they be there or someone else?

Small hands landed a little less than gently on the other senshi's shoulders from behind, Romulous leaning into his back as she peer around his shoulder and up the steps. "Don't think so." It had probably been a rhetorical question, but she answered it anyways, humming thoughtfully as she let her hands fall away, down to her sides. "We could go up them," she suggested reasonably, head tilting back to follow the winding staircase as high as she could see it. That was a lot of stairs.

The male senshi grinned as he felt the dark mirror female lean on his shoulders and into his back. He glanced at her briefly and cocked his head. "We could," he answered, his tone mischevious. "Seems like that's what they're here for, anyway.
"Someone must want us to go up them. And with all the weird rumors going around about Order White Moon senshi being seen in mirrors and thunder being heard in Mirrorspace, it definitely sounds like something's up." He regarded the stairs again. "In this case, literally."
Turning to wink at Romulous over his shoulder, he said, "Race you to the top!" and made a dash up the mysterious staircase, aiming to get as high as he could as fast as he could before his legs or breath gave out on him.T e b i k ii ((Bikii, I'm sorry, I'm a little confused - does this rp take place during or after the The Storm Breaks rp? Was there a reason some of us were quoted in this one and not that one? Or are we supposed to/allowed to join that one later?))

"But is it safe?" Romulous added airily, head tilting as she stared up the seemingly endless spiral of stairs stretching above them. She didn't actually care if it was safe, not really. Otherwise she wouldn't spend her civilian evenings breaking into places or exploring abandoned buildings. Ptolemaeus turned, tossing a wink back over his shoulder at her, and Rom grinned back at him before shouting a startled "hey!" as he took off at a sprint up the stairs. "Not fair!" She called after him, running up after him. "You've got a head start and longer legs!" Maybe she should just maintain an even, easy to manage pace. Let him tire himself out. Then it'd be easy to catch him.

Long ago, Remarque had learned that Mirrorspace wasn't what it seemed. He had spent countless hours here and had only once ever found anything unique—and then, he'd never found it again. It came as no surprise to him when Mirrorspace felt weird. He wasn't shy about the oddity, either; instead, he frequently lingered, seeking out the shadows and pursuing the strange sensations. He rarely discussed the oddities of Mirrorspace with anyone but Lesath, mostly because he didn't want to worry anyone. No one had come to him with any strange reports, so he'd just blamed it on paranoia.
Until tonight.
Tonight, it seemed as though he wasn't the only one who couldn't stand the uncertainty of what was going on in Mirrorspace, and he'd been taking great care to ensure that Fortuna was settling back into Destiny City.
He didn't want to put her in danger, but neither did he want to abandon her while she was still growing accustomed to things. Naturally, since Mirrorspace was so safe, when he'd Mirrorwalked into it to investigate, he'd brought her with him. He was confident that he could keep her safe should anything go wrong.
…But he was pretty sure something had already gone wrong. This area didn't look like the Mirrorspace he was used to. While there were familiar faces, there were not enough senshi of higher rank to make him feel comfortable.
They had arrived only just a few seconds after Romulus and Ptolemaeus began their sprint up the steps. He wasn't as enthusiastic as they were, but he was concerned for their well-being. He didn't know what was up there—and didn't want them to run head first into trouble.
A low grumble rose from deep within his throat and he glanced at Fortuna. "I suppose we shouldn't let them get too far ahead of us in case there is trouble up there." He moved from his position and began to ascend the steps; he wasn't running, but Remarque was by no means taking slow steps.

Fortuna still wasn’t used to the sensation of slipping into mirror space so it took her a few moments to adjust once they stood still. With a quick glance up she watched the other two Senshis sprinting up the stairs.
“Stairs… Why did it have to be stairs?” Fortuna joked with a grin then shrugged as she followed Remarque. She trusted him fully and had no problems following him into uncertainty. And if somehow she didn’t make it out, she knew that he would do everything in his power to make sure her sisters were taken care of.
With those fleeting thoughts in her mind Fortuna started to jog up the stairs. She was in excellent shape and had no difficulties climbing the stairs, even if she was slower than Remarque.
“What do you think is up there?” Fortuna questioned glancing once more up the flights of stairs to where she could no longer see.

And up and up our hero’s went, around and around, climbing higher and higher.
In reality the group could not have been on the move for more than fifteen minutes; however it was always hard to judge the duration of time from inside the void of Mirrorspace. As they traveled the very environment itself began to warp around them. The blackness lightened into a grey and from that grey, fog started to form. It was not long until the group found themselves surrounded by a thick veil of cloud, the air was moist and in the distance thunder drummed and cracked. It was like looking out the window of an airplane that was flying through a storm, through our heros were not enclosed inside a machine but exposed to the elements that surrounded them. Near the top, flashes of light could be seen, brightening the stairway to reveal the silhouettes of the stairs for a second, before it became too foggy to see ahead once more.
And where did the stairs lead? To another platform of course!
Ptolemaeus and Romulous were the first to arrive at the strange platform. It was too made of stone but a very different kind of stone to the platform where they had started. The surface was not smooth, but more organic feeling, like they had stepped straight onto the side of a mountain. The air smelt of damp and cinders simultaneously and from the fog appeared a strange structure. One might question if they were in Mirrorspace at all, everything seemed so… Earth-like?
However to a more experienced senshi, like Remarque, the fact this was all an illusion was obvious - despite how convincing it may have been. He and Fortuna soon joined the others in front of the large wooden structure that rose from the platform. It was a battered building, covered in cracked and splintered planks which had long been weathered to the point of discoloration. It looked ancient, abandoned to time long ago. On closer inspection a metallic sheen could be found in places, more so some areas were fuzzy and distaughted like a glitch in the Matrix. It did not seem stable, it was half formed, alien. It was something that did not belong here and the void was trying its damn hardest to reject it.
Then, all of a sudden, the door to the building shook like something heavy had been thrown against it from the inside. The wood strained and creaked uncomfortable, before all went silent again. The stairs that had lead our heroes to the platform had suddenly vanished without warning. There was turning back, the only way was forward. Though before heading into the viper's den, they were free to discuss the situation amongst themselves.

Remarque ascended without much difficulty, but stairs were easy. As long as they didn't fall out beneath them.
The higher he climbed, the less concerned he became; if he hadn't had his wings, he might have been concerned with how dangerous a fall could be. He didn't know what was up here, and had shrugged when Fortuna asked.
There was no telling what was in Mirrorspace, except danger and mystery.
As the scenery began to change, he kept close to Fortuna but hastened his step to lessen the distance between them and the other two Dark Mirror Senshi.
This was abnormal, even for Mirrorspace, and his lip twitched every few steps. He didn't know what they were dealing with so kept a keen eye on their surroundings, constantly searching for something blaringly out of place.
His brows were knit in concentration, and he wore a general expression of dissatisfaction when they reached the strange building. When the door shook, he instinctively took a few steps forward in case something decided to try and rush them.
"…Hope you two didn't wear yourself out already," he said, casting one last glance at the door before focusing his attention on Ptolemaeus and Romulus.

Though Ptolemaeus enjoyed a good competition now and then, he was by no means a competitive person and had declared a race up the steps without much inclination to win. His real reasons behind doing so lay more in playfully and cheerfully breaking the eerie tension of the unknown, suspicious atmosphere (as if Mirrorspace wasn't mysterious enough already) as well as to speed up the process of getting to the bottom of what was wrong. Or, as it seemed in this situation, the top.
Therefore the teenage male senshi was more conscious of his fellow court members' pace and ascent than his words had let on. He slowed his own steps somewhat when he thought he might have been going too far, pacing himself and his breath simultaneously, but he didn't wait long enough to be surpassed, either. When they finally reached the top, he leaned forward, putting his palms and his weight on his knees while he panted slightly. Even with his heightened senshi abilities, that had still been quite a climb.
Upon hearing Remarque's comment behind him, Ptolemy responded with a somewhat breathless laugh. "Are you kidding? That was just a warm-up," he said, straightening up from his forward lean. Regarding the strange, dilapidated structure before them, he tilted his head. The door's shaking and wood's creaking caused him to raise a brow and glance back at the others. "My question is, are we going in together or one by one? You got a plan, Your Majesty?"

Fortuna had followed Remarque up the stairs easily, she was in excellent shape so she was hardly breathing heavy when they reached the top. Taking in her surroundings Fortuna focused on the dilapidated house in front of them, jumping slightly when the door was slammed into.
When she took a step back the senshi noticed their escape route was now gone and that did not bode well, though all would be fine as long as she stuck near Remarque.
Fortuna took a few moments to size up the two other senshi's on the platform and then glanced at Remarque when he was adressed by Ptolemaeus.
"Your majesty? That's new." Fortuna quipped with a grin on her face. She knew that he had grown in strength since her three years away, but she didn't realize how much since Remarque never mentioned it.
Though she listened to the conversation around her, most of her concentration was on the door and the building. Fortuna eased into a defensive stance in case the door gave out suddenly.

Remarque huffed and crossed his arms over his chest before grumbling to Fortuna, "Long story, we'll go over it another time. For now," he looked to Ptolemaeus. "If we're going in, I don't think any of you should go in first."
It wasn't about their experience or power—it was because he had a very clear advantage with power, and he didn't want to see any of them injured. Sending a basic senshi in before they knew what the enemy was could have been a death sentence if they weren't careful.
Remarque knew Mirrorspace as well as anyone could, and yet the only thing he knew was that it was uncontrollable and unstable.
And it was dangerous.
If he could do anything to ensure that the Court wasn't hurt in any way, he'd do it.
"I've never seen any place like this in Mirrorspace. This isn't normal," he said, glancing around. His eyes never strayed too far from the door—and whatever lurked behind it. "Have any of you seen anything strange going on, before today?"

Quick, but steady. That was the pace Romulous set for herself. It meant Ptolemaeus beat her to the top, but he had a good few inches of long legs on him that she just didn't have. But that was fine, for as much smack as she'd been talking, she wasn't actually in a hurry to get their first. It was better to get there as a group, preferably with Remarque among them. So the senshi of craters was, for once, content to let someone else take the lead. At the top, ish, small hands came down to rest on her hips as she came to a stop beside the much taller senshi of change, brows arching as she looked from him, to the other basic(she wasn't sure on her name, yet) with them, then up to Remarque. "Well, he is a prince. Seems an accurate title to me." Frankly, his desire to be the first to step forward was just fine and dandy. Romulous had seen what the prince was capable, and she'd put a lot of money on him being able to handle pretty much anything they ran into.

"I guess I really was gone a long time." Fortuna mused as she watched the small party. It had always been natural to defer to Remarque so it was nice to see that he progressed so well through the ranks, gaining the power that he so clearly earned.
"By all means after you." Fortuna responded to Remarque with a grin. She obviously hadn't seen anything like the house before since she hadn't been to mirror space in a long time, at this point she was just along for the ride and was happy to stay behind Remarque and the others.

"I haven't exactly seen or experienced much first-hand since I can't come to Mirrorspace without help yet, but I've heard plenty of rumors from others," Ptolemaeus answered Remarque. "I guess over the past few weeks, some have been saying they've heard the sound of distant thunder here. I didn't know how unusual that was since I don't spend much time in this place, so I didn't pay it much mind.
"Then there were some in our court saying they couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, but I figured with as many mirrors as we have in mirror space, it's bound to make people feel paranoid if they think someone might be spying on them behind their back through a reflection."
"What really had me curious, though," he continued, "were the most recent rumors that White Moon senshi have been seen in mirrors throughout Destiny Ciy. I figured that couldn't have been a good thing for us; or at least not normal." He gestured toward the dilapidated wooden structure. "And now there's this, so...I'm drawing a blank as to what all those things might mean."
Smirking at the prince and his insistance that none of the others go first, Ptolemy made a grand gesture with an arm as he bowed at the waist. "As you wish, Prince 'I-Don't-Lose-Ever'," he teased, quoting Remarque from the night he'd first come across the dark mirror senshi. "I don't think any of us would care to speak up against that decision even if we were in any position to. Thank you for volunteering~ Royalty first!"
Straightening back up from his bow, he raised an arm to drape it across Romulous' shoulders and leaned some of his weight on her as his eyes focused on the door of the building. He continued to wear his ever-present grin, but his gaze suggested a more serious demeanor.
