Einhornhöhle - Wonder
Outside of Moonshop: Einhornhöhle aka The Unicorn Cave "is the largest show cave in the West Harz, about 1½ kilometres northwest of Scharzfeld in the borough of Herzberg am Harz in central Germany. It is a karst cave set in Zechstein dolomite rock.
It was first mentioned in the records in 1541. In 1686 Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz visited the cave and wrote a report about it mentioning the local trade with unicorn artefacts. In those days fossilized bones supposed to be from unicorns were ground and used for making medicine...." -

About the wonder:Located deep in a forest occluded from view of both sky and land travelers the knight of Einhornhöhle guards a very precious secret. The Unicorn Cave has served as a sanctuary for the wild unknown creatures that have been left to myth of legends for centuries.
There are three entrances, rimmed in stone and surrounded by large evergreen trees, which connect to a huge center chamber by way of an elaborate tunnel system.
The first is where sea and sky meet and turquoise blue water flows through the mouth of the entrance winding along a trail to the central gorotto.
The second shrouded in mist with moss covered rocks pave the entrance on a slippery slope. It can be perilous to climb at night unless you know where the safe foot holds are located.
The third entrance opens up into a meadow full of purple flowers. Venturing further away from the final entrance the trees begin to thin and eventually opens up into a large open field of tall grass.
In several places along the ceiling
cracks had formed over time. The fallen debris cleared away and support structures added for stability; the natural rifts were left in place to allow natural light to filter in through the breaks in the trees. Lanterns mounted on the walls hang in intervals emitting a soft glow of magical origin as to not set the Wonder ablaze.
The web of tunnels do not lead to dead ends and are designed to confuse visitors, unwanted or not, but to the few that are able to find it some paths do connect to a large dome shaped room. Stalactite's hang from the ceiling in chandelier structures around a
break in the forest floor much like the cracks along various tunnels. Ferns, fauna, ivy and tree roots spill from the
opening carpeting the ground around the stalagmites and stone pathways.
At its center there is an oasis where water from the ocean and rain that trickles down through the cracks in the ceiling collect. Purified by minerals the water is life sustaining with beautifully colored small fish that swim in the clear turquoise-blue water. A narrow stone path leads from the shore out to the middle where a gazebo had once been built. It is a moderate size with seats for about twenty or so to sit if ever there were any. Perhaps once in the line of past incarnations the wonder was open to many but now it saw so very few save for the creatures kept hidden away and the guardian tasked with keeping them safe.
