IT IS A WORLD LIKE OURS...

There are stories, of course, that have lasted through the millennia. Tales of heroic quests, monsters and magic have made their way into the modern ethos, and have pervaded every nook and cranny of western culture. Buildings are adorned with symbols that have decayed, over the years, from representing ancient healing cults to simply decorating the front of a hospital. The magic of bygone times has been dismissed as allegory or mythology, a way for less advanced peoples to explain things that they didn't have the science to fully understand.

It is only the few who learn that the myths are real, and that magic plays a hand in every special moment of modern life. A world that seems cut and dry, normal, is a facade over the meddling of ancient gods:

The Olympians.

They seek out those who are exceptional in some way: who have a spark inside of them that can be stoked toward greatness, that sets them aside from the usual noise of the average human rabble. They find the geniuses, the great beauties, the philanthropists and inventors and everyone else who will impact our world, for better or worse, and they make them their own.

WHERE TO BEGIN

For now, all you have to do is read up on all the information in this subforum to make sure that you understand the setting, shop, and rules. If you have any questions, ask them in the I/T thread!

If you're interested in joining up, head to this subforum and read the information about making a character. This character should be from a modern world like ours, and should have no knowledge of the existence of magic. Up until this point, they have worked, or been in school, lived with their parents or on their own -- whatever it is you choose for them to have done.

Make sure your character has some kind of special trait that makes them exceptional, and desirable to one of the twelve Olympian gods. You can find more information about them here.

IF YOU HAVE A CHARACTER...

Post their profile in the Journals subforum, and then immediately head to the Recruitment Solos thread. Once you've completed your Recruitment Solo, you are free to RP in the Prytaneum setting! At the moment, all characters have been Called to Arms, and all RP must be done in the current chapter of our Epic!

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CHARACTER...

Keep an eye peeled for opportunities to claim or win new characters! For the time being, Questing isn't open yet, but hopefully it will be soon!

IF YOU WANT TO PLOT WITH OTHER PLAYERS...

Joining our Slack Team will give you access to a group chat, and offer many opportunities to talk to other users and make plans! You can also make a thread in the OOC forum in search of those interested in your ideas!

ORIENTATION

In the first two weeks of their time at the Prytaneum, all characters will be taken on a Tour of the Prytaneum, where the Chosen can ask questions about their new homes. Olivia will give some basic Combat Training, during which Chosen will be guided to at least some practice fighting, some level of competency with whatever their preferred weapon is. hp?t=24983193]Two Truths and a Lie that revealed all kinds of things.

During this time, the Chosen should not be idle.

They spend their time at the Prytaneum learning the lay of the land, going to the gym, investigating the labs and the classrooms if not necessarily starting on their personal projects yet. They'll tell their families they're well, via phone or email, but they can not go home, in these first weeks.

Max promises that a route back will be opened soon. Soon, they can visit the real world, she says. She just wants to make sure they're all well prepared before they do.

OOC:

This is a quick information post to help you establish what your character should know, as a Chosen currently living at the Prytaneum! This will make it easier for you to know where they stand if things start getting tough.

Combat Training

Your character has had a basic lesson with Olivia Von Hooten and/or Griffin Ortega. They are at least competent with one weapon. They will not stab themselves, and know basic operation, as well as some starter-level moves, at the very least. If they've devoted more time to learning, they might be more skilled.

First Aid

Rafe Petrov, the sole Chosen of Hades seen around the Prytaneum, has given all characters the absolute basics of First Aid. This will enable them to do the most simple of triage, to keep them alive until real help can arrive.

Talk about the Future

At some point, your character met with Max to talk about what they would like to do with the resources available to them at the Prytaneum. This talk could have ended with them asking for future supplies or lessons, with them preferring to spend most of their time at home, or with a nebulous uncertainty as to what they want that can be clarified at a later date.

RULES

No meta-gaming - Make sure that what you know and what your character knows are separate entities. You may have read a character's profile, but your character has not. Use only what you have learned through RP.

No god-moding - You should never dictate another character's actions without the other person's permission. The best way to avoid problems in fights or other kinds of conflict is to contact the other user via IM or PM to work out the loose sketch before you begin the RP.

Keep it PG-13 - Gaia's ToS requires all threads on the forums, in guilds, or PMs to be PG-13. This means that any violence should be written in relatively tame terms, and all sex must Fade to Black before it hits the juicy bits.
