 Standing on the shore, staring out at the waves glimmering in the moonlight, Lady Mizuki sighed. How many lives were lost to the ground-leveler..? Did ANYONE survive..? Glancing over at the otter sleeping high above the tide line, she shook her head. At least we have each other... Taking care to avoid stumbling over the bits of flotsam kicked up on the beach, she picked her way over to where her familiar lay. "Arise, Arashi. It is time to go inland. No signs of our clan tonight either. Perhaps... perhaps on another moonlit night fortune will smile more favorably upon us."Stirring sluggishly, Arashi yawned and scratched his belly before rolling over onto all fours and waddling up to Lady Mizuki. After giving her a comforting head-butt, he scampered into the foliage, following a path they'd formed from many trips to the beach in silent hope of finding something of their clan left.

Around Setareh, water washed away each paw-pad he took, the traces of his steps disappearing as if they had never been to begin with. It was not often the half-angeni ventured out from his secluded cave of an abode for any period of time. Yet... something about tonight drove him to stave off turning in for the evening. And instead, here he stood on the wet sand - watching the blinding ball of sunlight sink below the dark line of the horizon.
The stallion snorted, considering the skyline with appreciation, the last rays of sunlight making the golden stripes of his hide and wings glisten radiantly. Stretching out his wings, he continued to pad along the beach, golden eyes watching each wave as it ventured up to meet the sand in dark ripples.
A thought passed through his mind - what would it be like to fly through those depths?

As she made her way to follow the sea otter, Mizuki paused to glance behind her once more, her gaze filled with longing and suppressed sorrow. It was then she noticed, out of the corner of her eye, a faint shimmer on the horizon. Could it be..? She hesitated, trying to remember if anyone in her clan was adorned with a sunset-colored hue. Turning around again, she hesitantly made her way toward the splash of color. "Hello..?" She called out, wary.
Realizing he wasn't being followed, Arashi stopped to see what was going on. With a sigh at having the night's sleep delayed further, but knowing this had to be looked into, he scampered after Lady Mizuki. He would forever be by her side. After all, they only had each other...

Paws continued to pace in the wet sand - it was hard to pull his gaze away from the hypnosis that was the waves. Yet, the feminine voice that rang out against the ebb of the water broke against his ears and broke his concentration. His eyes flicked away, narrowing as he moved to face the direction of the voice.
What his eyes beheld was bright and dark figure, spectral and mysterious - all rolled into one aquatic package. He snorted, his nostrils flaring as he breathed in her gentle scent. She smelled of ocean, and something more... floral.
"Are you a water nymph sent to tempt me?" He said, a small smile lifting his lips.

Standing stock-still for a moment, trying to puzzle out what the stallion called her, her gaze fell to what should have been his hooves. Backing up a few paces, ears flat, Mizuki silently prayed to ancestors for protection. "I... I know not what a "water nymph" is..." Heart racing, she cast about for an easy way to escape. There was always the sea... but oh, how she feared it so!
With a few easy bounds, Arashi scampered up her broad tail and situated himself upon Mizuki's neck, peering over her head. Glowering at the stranger, he barked out a retort. "Are you some sort of demon, come to take us to the Far Shore?"
