▪ Khai is the loner type with the capability of still being quite fond of a few, close friends. If he wants to keep you around, you can trust that Khai will spoil you with kindness. He's not often willing to do this for anyone, though. Most of the time, he just completely ignores the presence of those around him unless they are the one approaching him to make contact. Most would describe Khai's mannerisms as rude, but he'd say he just tells it as it is. He's blunt and straightforward, which pisses people off, but he's not doing it to be a d**k. Sometimes, it's just bet to let Khai be himself and come to you if he needs something.

▪ Khai's family was very poor and couldn't even support themselves, let alone a child, but when Khai mother became pregnant, they could bring themselves to terminate the pregnancy. With this being the case, Khai's father joined a circuit of "merchants" working in the black market. He didn't sell anything, but he did make runs for certain merchandise that was requested of him and would act as a middle man for very lucrative deals. In doing so, he was paid handsomely for assuming a great risk in the trade. He made plenty of money to support his wife and his son once Khai would be born. It wasn't until he'd been doing this for about five months that Khai was born. When this happened, his father took a small break in order to be there to assist his wife in raising Khai for the first few months of his life.
About six months passed from this point when some of the more dangerous characters from the black market appeared at their home. They demanded that Khai's father return to his work, but do so in league with them. They were merchants of some more macabre items, including human organs and other things that turned the stomachs of bother of Khai's parents. His father refused the offer and tried to get them to leave his home. They responded with a few swift blows to the man's gut and then left him in pain on the ground, saying that they'd return soon with more "convincing" offers. When they returned, Khai's father ended up joining them in their work. He died a year later.
When Khai was three years old, his mother became very ill and wasn't able to take care of him very well. Some friends of hers assisted in every way they could at this point, but she ended up passing away by the time he was almost four years old. He was now an orphan, bouncing from home to home, only staying there for short periods of time, getting whatever help he could from the friends of his parents. That wasn't enough to teach Khai, though. He learned some rotten habits and began to grow hateful of the world with this life of his.
Over the next few years, Khai learned to fend for himself, steal what he needed to live, and could hunt his own food when given the opportunity. He didn't take anyone's s**t no matter what, which sometimes landed him on the wrong side of the Valkir Guard. He was always being chased by one of them whenever he was spotted near the market. This pushed him more towards the salvaging yards. A lot of the guys over there would feed Khai in exchange for him bring them some of the stuff he found. When he wasn't able to go to the market and steal food, this was his only option.
Khai learned to love salvaging. He found lots of interesting stuff and began tinkering. Around the age of fifteen, he started to make weapons and other tools he could use just from what he scrounged up at the salvage yards. This experience taught him a lot and trained him to be more self-sufficient. Years later, he still tinkers and builds stuff whenever he can, steals whenever he can, and spends a good deal of his time salvaging for raw materials that he can use. For the most part, some would say Khai is just a regular guy that had a tough life since he was born, but he knows the truth that he's meant for so much more in this world.
