The white and gold Unicorn traveled on light footsteps as he moved through the lands. What he was searching for was unclear to him at the time being but he was certain it would be made clear to him in time. He just had a gut feeling that he should go this way and so he had. Ice colored gaze scanned the blossoming lands as he walked along, his footsteps sure, hopes up and head held high. The summer breeze and warm sunshine just sent him into a sort of day dream as he moved along, lost in thoughts of potential tales he could tell in the times to come. Perhaps he'd even have a few adventures of his own to share with others! That way he'd live on forever in songs and tales of heroic feats. At least that was his hope. And there wasn't anything wrong with having high aspirations for yourself, if anything it was good to shoot high. That way you know you'll push yourself to the limit, though would it be better to aim lower so when you surpass your goal it seems like you did more? While he mulled this over in his head and walked along in a sort of daze he failed to realize when he was no longer alone. If was likely the fact that she was colored like the mountains and sort of blended in to her surroundings on top of the fact he wasn't paying attention at all. This was going to cause for an interesting first meeting at any rate, at least once he realized it wasn't just him anymore. WC: 272

Melia had been out for a wander, nothing pressing to keep her confined to her family's land. And a soft breeze had called her to ride the currents for a time. After most of the morning spent in flight, she had settled in some woods to find a snack and rest her wings for a bit. She had heard the stallion coming, he was clearly lost in thought and not paying any attention to the noise he was making. She couldn't help but smile at his bright hide and enthusiastic smile. Melia almost wished she could hear his thoughts, for they must be intense to keep him so occupied. She watched him silently, not one to break a silence. When he finally noticed her, he was quite close and she smiled with a slight nod towards him, resettling her wings. Keeping her voice to herself, she watches to see what he will do now.

When he realized she was standing there, silent and un-moving he came to an abrupt halt. She hadn't said anything and he was a little unnerved but did his best to not show it. She was so silent and calm as she stood there and he wasn't sure how he had missed the fact he hadn't been alone anymore. "Have you been there long?" Was what came tumbling from his mouth and he almost blushed because that wasn't the first thing he wanted to say at all. Too late now. Ears flicked and twisted slightly as he pawed at the ground for a moment. He couldn't help but notice how unique she was to him, he hadn't seen a hippogryph before and she was quite fascinating to him, in more ways than one. "I'm not disturbing you am I?" He asked her.

She blinks slowly, tilting her head to the side to regard him. Then, voice soft, low, a measured alto in tone, "No, you do not disturb me." She inclines her head, keeping her eyes on him. "I am Melia." She resettles her wings, noticing the way he was looking at her claws and beak. A slight smile plays in her eyes. She knew that for those who had not seen a hippogryph before, she could seem rather frightening and decided to have fun with the moment. "If you disturbed me, you would not have to ask." One claw flexes against the ground, creating furrows in the earth. She wanted to see if he would run. That was, to varying degrees, a typical reaction. Melia almost hoped he didn't. There was something about his easy nature and happy smile that she found almost compelling. And his eyes, like an endless afternoon sky, she could almost get lost in them. Realizing she was staring at his eyes, she blinks. Maybe he will see it as a challenge, and it will go along with her teasing attempt to unnerve him.

He was pleased to hear he hadn't disturbed her and then wondered if she was being serious or joking about the whole 'you wouldn't have to ask' bit, but he wasn't going to bring it up. "Melia, that's a pretty name." He said with a warm smile as he said it to put it to memory. "My name is Eliot." He figured once they got to know each other more he could tell her his full name. At least he hoped they got to know each other more. As she stared at him he couldn't help but stare back, her pattern was quite eye catching and reminded him of some of the birds he'd seen in some of the forests on his travels. "Are you from around here?" He wanted to get to know her more but didn't want to push for too much info all at once.

"Eliot?" She replies, an eyebrow quirked, "Interesting." She turns her head to the side, looking down to the pine cones at her feet. Picking one up in her talons, she idly plucks the pieces apart, revealing the seeds. Giving a sideways glance before she answers, "I am from near enough to here. Though I suppose distance is relative to one without wings." She reaches down and takes a few of the revealed pine seeds into her beak. Why was she being so coy? Melia wondered to herself. She didn't normally act like this. But something about this stallion made her want to pull a reaction from him. She didn't know what reaction she was looking for, or why, but she couldn't seem to help herself.

He watched her as she dissected one of the pine cones and wondered if she was going to eat them or collect them. It would seem that he didn't have to wonder long since she plucked a few into her mouth. He had never had them before and wondered what they must taste like, then again he didn't have a beak or claws in which to break them open in a neat manner like she had just done. "What is close for you might be far for me, this is true. But there is never a distance that I won't cross if the destination is worth the travel." He countered her words with a small smile. He found her alluring and oh so foreign. He had never met a Hippogryph before and she was quite lovely to him. Returning his gaze to the pine cones, "Would you mind if I tried one?" He gestured towards the seeds she was nipping away on.

Looking up at him, accessing, she contemplated for a moment offering him a whole pine cone and watching him attempt to get at the seeds. But there was such an earnest peace about him she couldn't bring herself to do it. So she picks up another pine cone and plucks it apart, putting the nuts on a leaf that she steps back from once she's done. "I do not mind, Eliot. You need not travel a great distance to find their worth." Returning to her own pine cone she harvests the last few seeds to savor as she watches to see his reaction. He was unusually placid for a uni, to her experience. The healers were often skittish around claws and beak or bold and quick to challenge. She had never met one as readily accepting. She supposed for a uni their pride of breed was likely the obvious horn on their head, that which holds their healing magic. But it was the tail that swished with his thoughts that fascinated her more than the golden spiral. She though it both curious and compelling. And she was staring again. Quite unlike her, she would never be so rude to another hippogryph. But then, hippogryphs had feathered tails and those held no mystery for her. It was simple enough to see how well turned a hippogryph's tail was, how much it would aid in flight and maneuvering. And most other soq had hair tails, that could flick at flies but they didn't express themselves with them. Frustrated with her own distraction at the stallion stranger, she casts about for another pine cone to occupy herself and distract from his endless blue eyes.

He had expected her to give him a full cone but she actually picked a cone apart and got the nuts for him. "Thank you, that was very considerate." His eyes sparkled and he smiled at her warmly as he took a couple into his mouth and chewed them slowly, letting the flavor roll over his tongue. "These are very good." They had an interesting after taste but it wasn't bad. "I admire your plumage a great deal." He said looking at her feathers and their soft pattering. It was appealing to the eyes, at least to his anyway. "You remind me of a falcon, very noble and elegant creatures." His voice was warm and his eyes sparkled slightly. "Do you know a place I could stay for the night?" It was his coy way of asking if he could stay with her without actually saying it.

That smile, it was like the sun coming up. She watches with odd fascination as he chews on the seeds. And his eyes twinkled, how did he do that? She rolls her shoulders at his question, her wings stretching slightly before resettling. "I suppose you do not sleep in the trees then?" A silly question, only those with claws could really sleep in the trees. And she didn't sleep in trees either, but some of her herd did. And she was not taking him to her herd. Some of the young stallions would score his bright hide just because they could. Then she'd either have to fight for him, or let them drive him off. And she wasn't fighting for someone she'd just met. She gives her head a slight shake, her feathers resettling with soft whispers. "It is possible, there is a cave I have seen. But I do not know if it is occupied. And it would take most of the rest of daylight to walk there." Tilting her head as she looks at him, "I suppose I could guide you." Why did she want to guide him? To be trapped walking with him? But she did. She might not comment on his complement, but it warmed her. She was rapidly starting to feel like she'd known him for far longer than this brief interaction.

He smiled, and did his best to refrain from laughing since the thought of him in a tree seemed almost ridiculous when he pictured it. "No, M'Lday. I do not have the abilities to climb into a tree and If I could I'm sure I'd look quite silly." A warm chuckled escaped his lips and he tossed his hair lightly out of his face. He looked her over without making it obvious, she was quite stunning, even for being so plain. While he didn't think her as dull or homely he was sure there would be those that would. He was not one of them though. "If you guided me it would be most welcome." A cheerful hint glossed his tone and his tail swung behind him in a pleased manner. "I don't want to inconvenience you of course, so if you could but point me the way that would also suffice." In case she didn't want to walk with him, he'd totally understand. It was an unusual request of a random stranger but he did like her company thus far and hoped she would in fact escort him. "If it's occupied I could find somewhere else to rest without much worry I think." He added.

Her gaze was drawn to his tail, fascinated. Ooh, it's like a cat! She couldn't help but think to herself. Distracted, she missed half of what he said. "Oh, ah, if it's occupied we'll figure something else out, I'm sure." She rolls her shoulders in a shrug and nods towards a trail. "The cave I'm thinking of is that way." And having said that, she settles her wings and starts towards the path. "So . . . " She says over her shoulder, "If the destination is worth any journey, where or what do you seek in your travels?"

When she said 'we'll' he allowed a small smile to form upon his lips, so she wasn't just going to leave him to the great unknown. He wouldn't have minded if she had, but it was nice that she was going to stick it out with him, at least until there was a place to stay. He wouldn't make her stay if she didn't want to. Her question made him silent for an extended moment as he thought of how to answer her. "I seek what most do I believe, to learn about things other's are too afraid to search for," he flicked his tail behind him for a moment as he walked alongside her. "But mostly I seek the thrill of adventure and the possibility of finding that special someone along the way." While he was an adventurer, he was a romantic at heart. He just didn't fully realize that yet.

She glances over at him, "To learn about what others are afraid to search for? Are you not afraid then?" She shakes her head, "I've never really wanted to travel. Not for fear just . . . I have everything I need here with my herd." "Adventure never made sense to me. I mean . . . maybe if I didn't have a herd and a place and responsibility." She rolls her shoulders in a shrug before thinking on his last statement. "I suppose your special someone would also want adventure? Be curious about things?" She doesn't quite understand the slightly hollow feeling that idea leaves her with.
