Astrals, their Companion, and their Familiar (should they have one)
Please note, this journal will reflect the rps that I have going on right now, so if something is spoilered or blacked out, it means it is not ready for RP. All their information will be in the proper post, though. I will keep the main image of the astral at the stage I am currently rping them at, though I will have their 'future' stages linked too. (I will add in backplotted rps, but I am going to try to keep things as llinear as possible moving forward). I will not rp an Astral before I get their companion approved and their journal filled out.

Active RPs

Here is a list of all my current active roleplays. I am slow and might vanish due to RL issues. If you want to plot further, or you are curious about what's going on, or it's been like forever (and I mean forever), you can totally shoot me a PM. Well, you can always PM me with questions or concerns about anything, really, don't ever hesitate.

This is really just so you guys know I have the links to the rp and will reply. Eventually. XD

I also completely understand if someone wants to discontinue an Rp because of my slowness. No bad feelings or anything, I understand completely,

Any rps that my partner has not replied to in three or more months will be removed from this list and put in the 'Abandoned?" section of the RPing Astral's post. This just means I am no longer checking that thread for updates. In most cases, if you want to continue, it will be perfectly fine. In some cases where the Astral has moved on, or I don't feel I can rp that rp any longer, I will not continue those.

Also, just as a note, my characters are just that, my characters, they may do or say things that I would never dream of doing. They do not represent who I am, etc. They are just the characters I write.

THE LIST

  1. [PRP] Escape the Storm! (Arecio, Vaixen, & Edan)
  2. [PRP]Whats it Worth? (Orynoko & Sonnere, Arecio, Vaixen)

Caelestis

-----Name: Arecio
----------Meaning: God of War
----------Nick Names: Hymn

-----ID: CG0011

-----RP Color: Red

-----Family
----------Siblings: Amante
-----Mate: Nixuriye
----------Children:

-----Personality: Arecio can be a bit of a wild card, his temper usually controlled by daily training and his own personal code of honor. The tenents of that code do change, but Arecio will usually stick to whatever he feels faithful to at the time. It will change without warning, sometimes without reason. One day he will be behaving one way, then the next he will believe something different and act in accordance to those beliefs.
There are some core things he believes in: protecting the weak and punishing the wicked. Who falls into what category, however, is something only he knows.
Most of the time, Arecio is laid back, preferring to watch what is happening in the world around him rather than joining in, or making snap decisions about things. He leaving being charming and social to his brother, and instead always focuses on making sure things never get out of hand. If someone would dare raise arms against his family, then they would have to deal with Arecio. In a state that not many survive.
He is a creature of war, and while in times of peace he is peaceful, if there is a reason to fight, he will. Arecio is a master tactitian and a fierce fighter. Knowing his enemy, and knowing himself, gives him an edge in battle that few would like to face.
No one is exempt from this side of him. If Arecio finds fault enough to battle, not even family is safe.
Arecio puts a high value on those he comes to love, like his companion and his familiar. He knows, without a doubt, that they would do anything for him, and he for them. There is only one other soul in this world or any other that he would trust that much, that being his brother, Amante. But, unfortunatly, they had been seperated when Arecio manafested alone to try and save him from the man who had him, who'd had them both. Traveling with his companion, he does hope to come across his brother again, to see what became of him.
Outside those few people, however, Arecio sorts most others into simple categories he keeps silently in his mind. Possible Enemy, Enemy, Non-Combatant, and Ally. There are never many people that he puts in the Ally category. In many ways, he is more suspicious of people than his companion is, since, while Vaixen had his own experiences with the cruel natures of others, so had Arecio. And it might have cost him his brother's life. So, he regards others with suspicion, but does enjoy the company of the few he would call Ally outside of his companion and his familiar.
When he things about family, he knows only his brother and the family that he chose. Sonnerie and Vaixen have become like family to him, and that was not something he would give up easily. Not for anything.
The one good thing about being him, is that he had no problems tearing the world down to protect, or avenge, those he loved.

-----History: Arecio's history before he found his companion is short and filled with turmoil. He has vague memories of being stolen by someone, him and his brother both, and stashed away for some purpose that was not good. How could it be, when they were stolen in the first place. Arecio hated the feeling of the soul that had them, hated it with a passion. He thinks that hatred is what gave him the ability to manafest his form here on the earth.
His scroll had been tossed aside like so much trash, and his brothers taken. Taken somewhere far, for some unknown purpose. It awoke his rage, it awoke him. As a fully formed Caelesti, he quickly found the man who had taken them, who still had his brother, and attacked. The battle was over quickly, as it was unexpected and fierce. Arecio got his brother's scroll from the man. But, not for long.
Tiring quickly because he had no companion to anchor him to this world, Arecio became lost and disoriented, still keepingn a tight grip on his brother's scroll, but unable to do much more than that. He couldn't run, could barely walk, and when the man found him again, it was all he could do to fight him off and flee.
Losing his brother's scroll in the process.
Arecio knew he did not have the time or the energy to search for it. Knew, honestly, that he didn't have the time for much of anything. He was fading. Fast.
Then, a young man ran into his backside, and shared his soul.
Still, even with Vaixen, it took a while for them both to recover enough to do anything, and the man was long gone. Arecio didn't want to involve his companion if he could help it, so he kept what had brought him into the world a secret, as much as he was able too. He also kept a weather eye out for any sign of the man or of his brother's sroll, or even his brother.
As he trained with his companion and traveled with him, he knew he had the best chance of finding his brother that way. Random chance would have to work for him for a change. And, being a mercenary was just the way to do it.
He kept that hope alive, that he would see his brother again. Usually by sending his familiar out for long periods of time searching for anyone marked the way that Arecio was marked.
Vaixen seemed to understand without needing to be told that this was something Arecio had to do. Even without knowing what it was he was doing, his companion supported him.

-----Location: Arecio wandered with his companion, though he avoids entering the larger cities unless he is absolutely necessary. He is never far, though, even when he os using his time alone to search for his brother.

-----Abilities: The most obvious of his abilities, is of course, flight. He is able to fly high, long, and far without much rest. Sometimes, when he feels the need for it, Arecio will fly as high as he can, where the sky turns icy and nips at his feathers and flank, where he is as close to the stars the bore him as he could proaaibly be before gliding back down to earth. It serves to remind him that the world is bigger than just those he cares about, and that one day he will return to the stars. Hopefully with his brother at his side.
Arecio is also a scary good tactitian, able to read and judge a situation quickly and accurately. He isn't entirely sure why his abilites always seem to benefit a battle, but he is not one to complain about it either. Arecio can usually tell how a battle or fight is going to go before it even starts. He can see all the little elements that make up someone and their ability to use them, and judge baised on what he sees. It's a good thing too. Gotten them out of the sort of trouble they would not be able to handle a time or two.
The Caelesti is also a very skilled fighter, able to use his entire body as a weapon. From the ground, or from the air, he normally finds his advantage and takes hold of it. Brutally. Often, because of the knowledge he has, battles he fights in are over as quickly as the wind can blow across a battle field. He always knows where to strike, when to strike, and how hard to strike to get the effect he wants. This is something he has tried to pass on to his companion with a little success. Vaixen is not as skilled as Arecio is, but he is close enough that the Astral is confident in his companion's abilities as well as his own.
Like all Caelesti's, he has sharp insight into things, sometimes bordering on precognition. However, this gift is only ever active in battle, or before battle. Like most things in his life, it is war oriented. In addition to the abilities he has as a tactitian and as a fighter, he is sometimes struck with a feeling. Some knowledge that he didn't gleen from his opponent that allows him to quickly win a battle, or feling like they should avoid some place, only to find out that there was an ambush laying in way for them. It wasn't something he counted on, because it was as random as the clouds, but when it happened, it was not something he ignored.
Though his companion is mostly awake during the day, Arecio feels the most alive at night. It was a comprimise they had to come too, so that they would be awake during the day and at night, so they both could function at their best. Usually, most of their traveling was done at night as Arecio could unerringly guide them to where they needed to go by the stars above. So much more accurate then the so-called maps that Vaixen had.

-----Weaknesses: Arecio is proud and he is not afraid to let anyone know it. Proud of who he is, who his companion is, and of what he can do. He will never admit to weaknesses out loud. Not to a stranger anyway. He may, if he feels that it is something he needs to improve on or something he needs his companion to compensate for, share what he feels are his weaknesses with Vaixen or Sonnerie. That pride, in of itself, is also a weakness that he has and will not acknowledge.
LIke his companion, Arecio does not like crowds. He gets easily agitated and is likely to lash out at anyone he feels crowding him. Which can be quite dangerous. For the person on the other side of his hooves. Normally, if Vaixen has to do somewhere crowded, Arecio will take to the air. That way, he can still keep an eye on his companion, and not have to be bothered by the crowd at the same time.
Arecio also does better at night, rather than during the day, as a general rule. He's had to split his schedule so he is awake half the day, and half the night, so he can share that time with Vaixen. Of course, Veixen does better in daylight hours. Arecio always finds himself getting tired easily during the day, so if he can manage it, they 'wake up' at midnight or so, and stay up until around noon. The only exception to this is battle. It does not matter what time of day it is, if there is a fight going on, he is completely energized and ready to fight. Even if an enemy catches him sleeping.
His entire life revolves around fighting and war, and some could think that a weakness. Both he and his companion are sujected to the worst people over and over again as thy strive to protect the good and the innocent. iT makes it hard for either of them to trust easily, and makes them see the worst in people rather than the best.
At times, Arecio can exhibit behaviors bordering on paranoia, especially if he thinks the man who took his brother and him is nearby, or causing trouble in a way that he needs to stop. Once he starts, though, it is difficult to get him to come out of his own head long enough to realize there is nothing wrong. Sometimes, though, the paranoia is extremely justifed so Arecio has just learned to live with it. Better to get woked up for days over nothing, than to miss what it is you need to be worked up over.
At the least, when he is in the state, he doesn't sleep much which allows his companion to rest more.
However laid back he may seem, there is always an undercurrent of violence in everything he does. As to whether that is a weakness... only time will tell.

-----Name: Vaixen
----------Approval

-----RP Color: Black

-----Race: Halfbreed - Human x Rikono

-----Gender: Male

-----Age: 23

-----Personality: Vaixen is, among other things, an honorable and loyal person. He tries not to judge anyone based on race, the way he was judged, but my their actions.
Like his Astral, he can be a bit of a wild card. If someone managed to get him on their side through coersion or deception, watch out. He is most definitely the type to turn on his 'owner'. He doesn't like to be bound to any structured way of doing things, or any sprt of structured beliefs. He lets the situation guide him, and his feeling guide him. Vaix has no respect for authority that has not proven itself to him, personally. If he saw a member of the guard or military save a bunch of kids from a burning building, that individual would have his respect. If someone expects respect based solely on their position, well, they got another thing coming.
Dispite the fact that Vaixen is alone most of the time, he does crave companionship. He takes pride in his Astral, one mercenary to another, and in his astral's familiar, but he knows that at somepoint he is going to have to find someone he can call friend, at the very least. It is a thing he's avoided as much as possible. Mainly, because he doesn't want to deal with the prejudices of the other races, including both of the ones he should be apart of. He's heard tales of places, or races, that might accept a halfbreed like him, but he doesn't put my stock in rumor. It's something he feels he can't hope for, so he avoids it.
Vaixen will never turn away someone who needs help, even if they can't really pay him. He firmly believes that he needs to use his skills, his training, and his abilities to help those who cannot help themselves. Vaix will never call himself a hero, making sure to get some sort of payment out of everyone he helps, even if that payment is a joke, just so that he can say he'd been paid to do the things he did. He doesn't want that kind of reputation. Vaix is afraid that if the world were to see that he is a good person at heart, not someone obsessed with weath or status, that the world would take advantage of him. And the world has been mean enough.
He has no family that he would call as such. Vaix doesn't even know who his human father is, and while his mother did raise him, it was with regret. When he was younger, he would slink around his home, his town, everywhere, sure he had done something wrong just by being born. It wasn't a nice feeling. He wrote them all off when he left home because he couldn't stand it anymore. It's why he's alone now, with the exception of his Astral. He just can't trust that someone would want to be near him for any reason than do use him in one way or another. And he doesn't plan on giving them a chance.
Still, with what he does for a living, he has to be in direct contact with others. It's a necessary evil that gives him temporary companionship with people. That transient feeling of belonging, if only for a little while, has kept him going since he started being a mercenary.
He does have a temper though, like his Astral, usually kept in check by his training and his morals. But, if someone rouses that temper, Gods help that someone, for he and his Astral are both creatures of war and will rain destruction down on those who offend.

-----History: Born to a Rikono mother, Vaixen always felt... unwelcome, like he was a burden his mother had to bare. It didn't help that he looked almost completely human, so he couldn't even attempt to pretend to be anything other than he was. A halfbreed.
As he grew older, and missed out on the opportunities that others his age were given, he realised that the one reason his mother was keeping him was because of the Code of Honor that they were all supposed to follow. It rankled, that thought, burrowed deep into his conscious mind and poisoned all his interactions with his so-called family.
They didn't want him. They were only tolerating him because of some silly code. He would never be accepted there.
So, one dark, moonless night, he left home and never looked back. He was about sixteen at the time.
In a fit of pique, though, he kept the name he was given so that if anyone bothered to try and traces his origins, they would find at least his mother's side of the family. Some sign that he didn't just crawl out of the earth, fully formed.
It was hard on him at first, being on his own. Because he was a halfbreed, he didn't get the same training that the others did. He was taught of some the basics, of course, and came to rely heavily on them to survive out in the wilderness on his own.
Vaix did not flee to another town or city, he stayed in the woods as much as possible, trying to avoid everyone and everything. As a teenager, he hated the world and everything in it. He didn't understand why he was punished for simply being born, or what he was supposed to do now.
It wasn't until he ran into, literally, a Caelesti.Vaix wasn't sure who was more surpirsed, him or the Astral, but looking back, Vaix had a feeling it wasn't chance that tossed the two of them together.
True to the rumors, Astral's could not survive long without a Companion. For some reason, this one had formed without one, and was looking ready to fade back into stardust.
As far as Vaxien could tell, the Astral manfested for an important reason, some battle or war what Vaix was unaware of, and now that the Astral had done what he intended, he lost the drive that was keeping him on the ground without a companion.
It took only a moment, though, to realize that they were meant to do more than meet that day. Vaixen had heard that Astral's needed someone, and honestly, he knew he needed someone too. Sharing his energy with the Caelisti was easy enough, even though it took more than a few days to get the Astral back into fighting shape, and more than that for Vaixen to recover from the process. But, once it was done, he knew he would have a companion for as long as he lived.
It was an exciting thing, too. The Caelesti was a creature after his own heart, a creature of war.
Since he was still young and untrained, Vaix let the Astral, who introduced himself as Arecio, start the procress of getting him on his feet.
The spent most of their time together, but alone out in the wilderness. Vaix didn't want to face anyone until he was strong enough to fight for whatever cause he saw fit too. Arecio felt the same, though he wwas an old hat at war. Still, between the two of them, their skills multipled and grew until they were both as fighting fit as they could be.
It was Arecio who gave him the idea to become a mercenary, to pick and choose his clients based on his own beliefs. Not to rely on anyone other than himself and his Astral. Vaixen felt that it was the two of the against the world, but he was still determined to help those less fortunate than himself. Getting paid to do it was, honestly, just a bonus.

-----Occupation: Vaixen is a mercenary, or sell-sword. He travels from town to town, offering his services for a price. The reason for this, why he won't join the military or law enforcement, is that as as a sell-sword, he controls who he fights for and why. Even though he doesn't keep the the Rikono code of honor, he does have one of his own. And he uses what he does as an excuse to fight for what he believes in at the time. He will even accept jobs that he truely feels are important for very little in the way of payment. For example, if there was a very poor mother with children who needed to travel a goodly distance, he would travel with them and protect them against all comers for, like, a slice of bread. That way he can say he was 'paid', even though he was really only doing what he felt was right.
He also can be picky about who he works for. If a merchant has a bad reputation, or if someone else who wants to hire him is involved in some shady business, he will not work for them. And, sometimes, if he feels that the person trying to hire him is crossing some major line, he will deal out his own sort of justice. Free of charge.
Even though he is a halfbreed and knows there are people out there who have a probelm with that, Vaixen doesn't discriminate based on race. Most humans can't tell he is anything but human, but some of the other races with keener senses might be able to tell he is a halfbreed. Anyone who is observant should be able to notice, though, simply by his behavior. Like, wincing at noises that are only slightly loud to humans, but are hard on his sensetive ears. Or using his nose to find things, things like that which will be expressed in rp.

-----Appearence: Vaixen is 5'9, but build thin, wiry. He is strong, though, his whole body conditioned to fight using his weapons. He has black hair that is kept long enough that he can braid it int small braids, attach a few beats, and then tie it up out of his face. Most of the time, his hair hides his ears. As a halfbreed, he mostly takes after his human side, enough that if he tired, he could pass himself off as human. The only obvious physical traits are his slightly pointed ears, usually hidden by his hair, and that his teeth are sharper and slightly pointed.
He has blue eyes and tan skin, spending most of his time outside. Under his armor, of course, he is rather pale. Normally, Vaixen will be leather armor covering his torso, but leaving his arms bare, and a pair of black pants that tucked into leather, armored boots. He wears a par of belts, one black, one red, with a red and white sheath, holding a sharp short sword. This is something he always wears, even when he is sleeping. The sword is not his main weapon, but it is for personal defense. In a sheath behind the one for his sword is a smaller knife he uses for everyday things.
HIs main weapon is a Glaive, similar to the one on the avatar. It is a long pole weapon with a single-edged blade on the edge. There is also usually a hook type of thing on the back of the knife to grab and move enemies. The knife part has a hook sheath, basically a bit of leather that hooks over the sharp part of the blade, that is quick and easy to remove, even if Vaixen can't reach the end of his glaive. Also, it only protects from the most basic of cuts. If Vaixen puts in the effort, the glaive will still do a good deal of damaged 'sheathed'. (I will actually draw out his weapons at some point, since that is like the only thing I can draw xD)
To handle the glaive without damaging his hands or arms, he wears thin, black leather gloves that reach up to his shoulder. That way, no matter how he moves the glaive, he will not be harmed but the blade or the pole.
He keeps a red ribbon tied around the end of his glaive.

-----Location: Vaixen wanders, but usually stays near human settlements or the Capital, since those are the best places for him to get jobs.

-----Abilities: Vaixen is very skilled with both his glaive and his short sword, training with them nearly every day that he is not on a job or mission. His ability with the weapons great, however not out of the bounds of what any other human or rikono would be able to do, if they put the time and effort into it. Vaix is also skilled in maintaining his weapons, using a whetstone and other things where necessary to keep them sharp and in good condition.
He is skilled in hunting with a sling (usually for small game or birds).
Vaixen is also good at outdoor survivial. Such as making a fire, making/finding food, making shelter if necessary, hunting and protecting himself from anything in the wild. Including things that shouldn't be there.
He has rudimentary skills in mending his clothing. He cannot mend his armor or various other leather items, like his sheathes. For that, he has to go into a city and get them repaired or replaced.
As a halfbreed, he has keen senses than humans do, but not quite as keen as he senses of a purebook Rikono. His hearing, sense of smell, and eyesight all fall in that area, better than humans but slightly less than Rikono. He also has more stamina than the average human, being able to cross long distances at an easy lope with llittle effort.
He has no magic ability.
Vaixen can pass himself off as human if necessary, but finds their behavior toward other races tiresome and annoying. He cannot pretend to be Rikono, even though he is a halfbreed. He doesn't think either of these things are a problem because he doesn't like how most humans behave, and he doesn't stick to the Rikono code of honor, so it's not like he would be welcome anyway.

-----Weaknesses:Because of his lack of magical ability, that is his largest weakness. He trains as much as he can to close to gap between his physical abilities and someone else's magical ones. As far as fighting goes, he will attack quickly and accurately to try to keep the magical benefit of someone else at bay. Even if the blow doesn't land, Vaixen knows that it is hard to concentrate on magic things when dodging the butt end of a glaive. If at all possible, he tries to avoid anyone who can use offensive magics.
His enhanced senses can also be a weakness at times. He tends to avoid central parts of cites or towns because they are loud and smell funny, and just the mass of noise and scents makes it hard for him to distinguish friend from foe.
Vaixen is not very good in crowds. They get his hackles up, so to speak, make him jittery and snappish, uncomfortable around so many others.
He is alone most of the time, with the exception of his Astral. Vaixen says he doesn't mind being alone, but he does get lonely. It is also a defensive nightmare, since it is really hard to set a proper watch while others slept. Without Arecio to guard his back, he knew that he would be in big trouble. Especially given what he chooses to do with his life.
He has poor communication skills as well, since he is alone most of the time and doesn't seek the company of others. It makes it hard for other people to understand him because he will speak the way he speaks, without regard for the way things are really spoken. It also becomes a problem when he is looking for a new job to take.
His fighting style is mostly offensive, lacking in any defensive tool such as a shield. Vaixen uses the pole of his glaive as his ownly defensive measure. His belief that it is better to strike quickly and get the battle over before his opponent, or opponents have a chance to strike back. So, he is lacking in the defensive areas.
Also, he lacks the support of anyone outside his Astral. It makes him distrustful of others.

Raven

-----Name: Sonnerie
----------Meaning: Bell, Ringing, or Alarm
----------Species: Raven

-----RP Color: Dark Red

-----How they met: Ravens flock to the feild of battle once the fighting is done, that is well known. At times, a bit of star dust and the light of the moon will coilde and create a raven unlike the natural born ones. Still, this raven found himself flying over the end of a battle, cawing like the natural birds of his kind. He was't sure what brought him to this battle, anymore than he was sure about why he had become. However, watching the Astral below fight off his enemies and protect his person, Sonnerie began to wonder if that was why the wind had brought him there. Seeing someone who was no doubt an enemy of the pair below move into a position of attack, a position that neither the Astral nor the Companion could defend against, Sonnerie opened his mouth and screamed, a sounded like bells clashing together and ringing long after he stopped, before he dove down into the battle himself, catching the enemy off guard long enough for the Astral to do something about it.
Afterwards, he felt a strong kinship to the Astral, and the Companion. He knew that Arecio would confide in him his worries about his brothers, but only because the Astral knew that swift silent wings would carry out the search better than he could. One raven among many would not be noticed, even if that raven was trailing stardust.

-----Personality: Sonnerie can be a bit of a prankster, mostly toward theiir companion because he is the easiest to prank, to get riled up and chasing Sonnerie half naked because the bird stole something from him. Arecio just gives him this look and Sonnerie will stop his antics almost immedietely. Something about the large, winged horse angry at him is just... not something he wants.
He will never steal from anyone for real, though, only in play, and only from his Astral or Companion. He shares their distrust and suspicion of others and, while he doesn't really understand why, he will silently keep watch whenever they need him too.
Sonnerie is probably the only one who can see how alone that his friends feel, and he has no idea why or what to do about it so he goes with Vaixen when Aricio cannot to keep an eye on him, and keeps watch when the two of them need sleep.
Of course, that is when he is in their company. Most of the time, lately, he has been on his own, searching for any sign of Arecio's elusive brother. When asked where he disappears to, at least when asked by Vaixen, he just tilts his head and acts like a bird until Vaix gives up in frustration. It's not like the companion could understand him if he spoke anyway. The raven didn't know why Arecio wanted to keep the search a secret, but it thught it probably had something to do with the warning he was given. Only observe. Do not interact with any human that might be the one the astral hates.
Sonnerie didn't know the whole story, but he knew well enough that if Arecio actually worried about him coming in contact with someone bad, then it was best to play it safe. Fly high and watch from above.
Still, for all the times he had gone out searching, there was no Caelesti that looked like Arecio.

Pan'i

-----Name: Fengari
----------Meaning: Moon
----------Nick Names: Fen

-----ID: GC0029

-----Rp Color: #A5A5A5

-----Family
-----Mate:
----------Children:

-----Personality: Fengari, like most of his species, is very protective of his companion. He helps her in any way that he can, guiding her through the daylight where she is mostly blind, keeping her from falling, and putting himself between her and any danger they might encounter. Not that there was much danger traveling with the Caravan, at least that they had run into so far, but still, he was prepared to protect his companion.

He was well suited to the task, with thick scales and his horn good for both offensive and defensive needs, but also his ability to become completely invisible. It was easier to defend someone when their attacker didn't see you coming. Or so he thought, having never had to have done it.

Fen is very even tempered, mellow and cool, in comparison to Seraini's more open emotionial state. He likes to watch things and judge them carefully. Luckily, he has plenty of time to do that while Sera is practicing or performing. Even if he is entertaining the crowd as well, he is using the time to keep an eye on things, making sure things were in order and safe. Of course, he enjoyed showing off and being admired too. He wasn't particular vain, but when people fawned over him appearing and disappearing, or danced while he wove his way through them, he felt like they weren't just admiring him, but his companion and her domain, the Moon, as well.

Fengari, like his companion, was always awake more at night than during the day. Most likely because Sera kept strange hours, so did he. But he was more adaptable than she was, able to switch to whatever waking schedule is needed of him. It was convient, especially when they were switching from staying in one place to traveling, for vice versa He feels better when he can let his companion sleep through the day, even if he cannot.

Since he doesn't have the problems with the daylight that Seraini has, Fen is confident in his ability to protect her as long as they stay near each other. He's never had too, but he figures anything is possible.

Aside from the protectiveness that is like their trademark, he is rather lucky as well. Or, at the very least, he felt that way. Fen really enjoyed traveling, seeing the world with his companion at his side. So, maybe the world was painted with moonlight, but that just seemed to make things better.

-----History:Ever since he emerged from his scroll, Fengari has been by his Seraini's side. Since Sera managed to get him to manafest while she was in her late teens, he was there to help her with her crisis concerning her ability. They figured it out together. She did most of the work, though, since he was still so young, but he knew he helped. As he grew, and as they switched to the Traveling Caravan so that they could travel the world and spread her song, he learned a lot of things. Mostly, he learned about how he could better protect his companion, and how to entertain the people they came across.

He hadn't understood, at first, why Seraini was so insistant about singing for strangers, or why she wanted him to put himself on display for them. It wasn't until their first show together that he understood what it was that she did. Den watched her use her ability to make the crowd so happy, so joyous, that he knew they would be talking about it for a long time to come. Any part he could play in that was something he was glad to do.

Honestly, though, he had no idea how Seraini got along without him before. At night, her vision and senses were superior to most, but during the day was a different matter all together. Fen spent most of his time, If they were both awake during the day, just making sure that she didn't fall or trip or get lost. Sometimes, he felt it was like looking after a kid of his own. But another, more important part of him felt honored to be needed so much. Fen knew that she could get along without him if she really need to, but just by existing, he made her life a little easier. He wasn't sure how it worked between other Astrals and their Companions, but he was happy that she needed him as much as he needed her.

The state of the world bothered him as much as it bothered his companion, and he felt like they should be allowed to try and help broker peace between fueding peoples, even on a small scale. It's not like they were making the decisions that wound affect anyone. They would just make it eaiser for those people who wanted to change things, wanted there to be peace. Her age, and his own, shouldn't matter. But he knew that it did, and that the peoples wouldn't even let them help settle minor disbutes yet, but he had faith that one day they would do more than sisng for the entertianment of all.

Fengari kept a few things to himself, mainly possible uses for her power that she had yet to figure out. He could imagine her leading men to battle, her song increasing their moral and their courage, while reducing their fear. It was one the things she hoped she never had to do, but Fen knew that if she felt it was for the greater good.

One thing was true. His life was never going to be dull, no matter what happened.

-----Location:Traveling with his companion and the Caravan.

-----Abilities:The abilities that all his kind had were, of course, ones he possessed as well. Flight, like he was dancing on moonlight, and the ability to turn invisible were two of the things he had to offer. But only two. He was lucky, but all Pan'i were lucky. So those were abilities he had, that he didn't really think about, because if all of his kind had it, it didn't make him special.

The abilities he liked to focus on were ones that were unique to him. Like his ability to guide and protect his companion. Above and beyond that, though, there were a few things he considered abilites of his.

Fen had a good eye for trouble, or potential trouble. He was good at judging a situation at a glance and knowing if he was going to have to do something about it, or if Sera's song would ease the tension enough. But he was always aware of trouble, and always ready to defend his companion. Since she had no skill in that area, he knew it would be up to him, solely, to protect her. And that was something that he took very seriously.

Another thing he loved about himself was that he could keep to the rhythm of the music or the nature of the song if she was singing without accompaniment. Fen could tune into the music, be on the same wavelength as his companion for the length of time she sang. Her ability was directed at the companion races and didn't work on Astrals, like himself, so he knew it was something that was just him. Though, he would be interested in seeing if any other Pan'i could dance to the music of the moon like he could.

Traveling highlighted some things for him as well. He could travel long distances at a quick pace without tiring too much, either drifting through the air or on all four hooves. It was easy to keep up with the caravan wagons, usually keeping pace with the one his companion is in. Sometimes with her on his back, when she feels like letting him carry her around. Honestly, during the day, he preferred that to letting her walk. It make it eaiser on him, for one thing, not having to be hyperaware of his surrounding so she didn't trip or fall. She barely weighed anything, so carrying her wasn't a burden.

In addition to his stamina, he knew he was not as bound to a nocturnal cycle, as least not as much as Seraini was, and he could go for a while with very little sleep, so long as Sera was getting the rest she needed. After a few days of little to no sleep, he would need to take a long rest.

But there was one more thing he and his companion had in common, ability wise. Fen, too, was good at leaving the hard work to others.

-----Weaknesses: Fengari doesn't feel that he has many weaknesses. He is sure there are some, everyone has them, but he thinks he is strong in many ways because his companion is weak in many ways. That, in of itself, is a weakness. Just because he had no come up against anything he felt he was weak again, it didn't mean he would not. And his pride, his confidence, might blind him to figuring out his weaknesses until it was too late.

He does, surprisingly, have a issues with large crowds of people when he is not performing for them. Its trying to move through them, get around all the people, that bothers him. Makes him feel crushed and confined, like he want to kick out or jump up and get away from the teeming mass. If he and Seraini are preforming, though, it is.a different matter. He isn't among the people as much, he supposes is the reason. This isn't something he had much experience with since his companion is often asleep during the times when the caravan would be swamped with people coming to see if they were compatible with one of the scrolls that the caravan carried. They were always still busy into the night, but the crowds were always less, not as thick and made up of smaller groups who kept tightly together as though it would protect them from the night.

He felt they had nothing to fear from the night, since Seraini's domain is the moon, why should thye be afraid of anything the moon touches? This is another one of the weaknesses he doesn't see as a weakness, and that makes it all the more dangerous. Fengari doesn't believe anything in the night would be willing to hurt them, so it is a blind spot in his protection of his companion.

Mostly, though, Fen really tries to compensate for his companion's weakness, rather than focusing on his own.

Companion

-----Name: Seraini
----------Approval

-----Rp Color: black

-----Race: Celestial -- Influnced by the Moon

-----Gender:Female

-----Age:28

-----Personality: Seraini is usally a very cheery and upbeat sort of person. She has no reason not to be, and besides, if she's not, it tends to leak into her music and mess with the people she is singing for in a way she normally doesn't want. So, she embraces whatever it is that makes her happy and tries to ignore everything else. It can make her seem flighty and unconcerned with the world around her, but that is not the case at all. She cares very deeply about things, and does try to keep herself away of the political annd racial issues that plague the world they live in. Sera really can't do much to influence things in the world. She knows that she's young, espeically for a Celestial, and that it's unlikely most of the races would listen to a singer, an entertainer. The Papin probaby would, but that was a different matter.

She enjoys singing for the songs sake. It's probably the reason that her magic manifested in the way that it did. Seraini is happiest when she is singing for others, even if it has noting to do with her magic or the influence she can cast on others. If someone ejnoys her music, anyone at all, then she feels very content. She most definitely an entertainer at heart. And even though she could neither play an instrument nor dance to accompany her songs, she could pull in the crowds with just the sound of her voice. She didn't need any of the rest.

Seraini is very peaceful, spending most of her time talking to strangers or singing to them. Anything that disturbs her peace, like a fight or some sort of disbute caused by things she finds tiresome, it will really effect her personally. Sera can get really upset over these things, and react by just sitting down and starting to cry or storming off in a huff. As in all things she does, she is very honest with everything she is feeling, so no one is left with any doubt they've upset her.

Seraini is definitely the type to wear her heart on her sleeve, sharing all of her emotions with anyone she comes across, either through song or just by being.

Her greatest joy, at least the greatest she had found so far, is singing in front of an audience that appreciates the song. It could be a large group of people, or a single child. As long as they get what they need out of the song, then she is very happy.

Some people my think her a simple entertainer, shallow and never one to look at the bigger picture, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Just because she didn't dwell on things, or let them influence her, that didn't mean she was not accutely aware of the world around her. And of the currents that ran through the world; distrust, anger, pain. Since she started traveling with the Caravan, she became even more aware of the potential for the ultimate problem, war. Sera found that very distressing, so she did her best to foster good relations in between everyone.

Since she was still so young, she knew there was a lot she didn't understand, but she would do her best to keep the world a peaceful place, even if all she could do was sing to it.

Seraini aoften compares her gift to the Domain that she carried, the Moon. Her song was the Moon, and the emotions that it influenced were the tides. Of course, the real moon influence the tides regardless of whether or not the tides wanted them too, so in that regard, she was just a little bit different.

-----History: Seraini had a normal childhood, though she spent most of it at the stationary caravan as opposed to moving around with the Traveling one. It was one of the reasons that she travels now. Staying in one place for a long time always made her edgy, like she couldn't stand to stay still for one night, let alone any longer. Sometimes she wonders if she had traveled with the Caravan when she was young, if she would want to stay in her place. Well, it wasn't something she could change, and probably wouldn't if she could anyway.

Being influenced by the moon made her more nocturnal that most. Staying up all day was difficult for her to do, and early on, she would just go to sleep during studies or whatever the adults had planned for her. They learned quickly, though, that as soon as the moon as up, she was awake and aware, and once it set, she normally slept. And, since the rising and setting of the moon didn't always correspond with sunrire and sunset, her schedule was a bit different that most others. Still, to her, it was perfectly normal to rise after the sun had set and go to sleep after it had risen. Even as an adult, she preferred to be awake when the moon was, but knows that it's not always practical, espeically when traveling with the caravan.

Sera has always been a bit of a daydreamer, letting her mind wander onto her songs rahter than her studies. That is not to say she is stupid, or naive, because she did pay attention to the things she thought were important, mostly the topics relating to who the world worked and how the different races interacted with each other. Both the good and the bad. But still, since she was a child then, there was a lot of information that just wasn't available to her. As a so-called adult, people were less likely to sugar coat things, but still, it seemed to her that no one really wanted to talk about it, content to ignore it if they could. So, she did her best to pick up on things as she went, not relying too much on what she was taught. Seraini really hoped that, some day when the world looked at her as someone how could be trusted and relied on, that she would know how to help the world be whole.

What started with nursery rhymes and childish songs, developed quickly into a natual obsession. Her voice was lovely, even as a child, and all the practice she did only served to mae it moreso. Before he ability manafested, she really enjoyed singing for others, and for herself. For the trees and the birds and sun and the stars. Any excuse to sing would do. They tried to teach her how to play the lute, and she failed at that. Same with the lyre, and the harp, and the drums. While she could keep tempo and pitch and key while she was singing, put an instrument in her hands, and she had less skill than a three year old.

It was the same with dancing. It always seemed like she had no rhythm when she could manage to stay upright, which wasn't often. It was like some invisible force kept tripping her when she tried to dance. It was just horrible all around, so she would throw a temper tantrum if someone tried to make her practice at all until no one tried any longer. Seraini had been pleased as punch with that victory when she was younger, but as she grew into her roll of entertainer, she wished she did have something else to occupy her audiences attention. She did have to take a break from singing every once and a while, you know.

At first, she tried to keep their attention just by her presence on stage. There was no way she was going to try and dance. She was so clumsy, she just knew that she would fall on her butt. Seraini didn't do will with public humilation. It wasn't until a few years after her magic manifested, when she was struggling with understanding what the limits to her power were that the solution to that problem presented itself.

In the form of a scroll.

The young Celestial had never doubted that she would get an Astral someday, honestly she hadn't thought about it much. It wasn't until she was presented with a scroll that she realized that's what she was missing, that's what she needed to complete her act. Especially if she wasn't going to be able to sing, like she had been afraid was going to happen at that point in time. It didn't take long for her Pan'i to manafest, since she gave her all of her attention and energy for to him for three days straight. And when the scroll formed into a small white Pan'i with scales that shown like moonlight, and glowing eyes like her own, shifting with the phases of the moon, Sera realized it was love at first sight. They were rarely apart, and it seemed her Pan'i was as interested in her ability as she was, and together they figured out the limitations for her.

It had been since, having someone who understood her so completely help her with something so important to her. Without her Astral, she probably never had figured out the extent to which her power worked and she probably would have stopped singing entirely, afraid that she was making people feel things that they didn't want to.

With the Pan'i at her side, though, she started traveling and putting on shows with the Caravan. Seraini would sing, and her astral would perform, gliding gracefully around in the audience, appearing and disappearing to the delight of the crowd. She never asked for any money, but if someone was pleased by her songs, she did accept tips and that usually paid well.

-----Occupation: Seraini sings for the Caravan, and all of Svatura. Most of her time is spent entertaining the peoples who come to the caravan, her songs drawing in crowds who want to be cheered up, or amused, or just enjoy the music without any magic involved. She loved playing it up for her audience, loving the attention and their reactions to her songs.

Sometimes, if they are traveling through an area that either has an establish bard or they run into a traveling one, she will invite him or her to play their instrument so she can sing along to it. Since she has no music talent in tht area, it is always a real treat for her. She will often do the same for dancers. Either professional or people who just wanted to dance, are given a large space in front of where she is singing to dance. And, sometimes if they do, her Pan'i will join in with whoever is dancing.

-----Appearence: Seraini is a danity looking thing, willowy and thin. She's not very tall, only about 5'3", so she is about the same height as her Astral, which amuses her to no end. Especially when she gets the chance to ride him and become temporarily 'taller' than him.

She is pale, the kind of pale normally seen in people who have albinism, though it was a not a trait she carried. It was the influences of her domain, of ourse. Her hair had very little color, just a tad bir more than her skin, and was long and curly. She normally kept it tied up because otherwise it just got in the way of everything, but she would leave it down for shows, sometimes. On speical occasions.

She wore loose fitting black clothing. A tight black top edged in silver with a mataching capelet over top, black pants, and sandles made up her normal attire, though she allowed for some variation in the colors from day to day. Sera had recently hadded black gloves to her wardrobe, not for any vain reason, but to protect herself from the sunlight. They, too, are black, though she breaks up the color with silver bangles on each wrist.

While her clothing may be simple, not something to draw the eye for performances and things like she had seen elsewhere, it was practical and did it's job protecting her from the sun. Not that she didn't look stunning, because she felt she did, but she wanted more than just the protection, an outit that is easy to move in, just in case.

The most interesting feature, at least what she thought was her most interesting feature, was her eyes. They ranged from a dark gray to a light gray, and they changed depending on the current phase of the moon. If it was a new moon, her eyes would be completely dark, while a full moon made her eyes completely light. Usually it was somewhere in the middle, giving her duel colored eyes.

(this will be portreyed in realtime. Whatever the moon phase is when the rp starts, along with rising and setting times, will be noted. They will only change if in the rp days pass. They do not change during the day.)

-----Location: Traveling with the Caravan.

-----Abilities: Naturally, she has an almost pitch-perfect voice, and that is something she works hard to maintain. Anyone who knows her knows that she spends a lot of her time working to make sure her voice is as close to perfect as she can get it. So, basically, she sings a lot.

Though, it's not always singing as others would recognize it. Or, at the very least, not in a way most would recognise. Sometimes, when she feels the need for it, she will sing... well, to most it would sound like gibberish or made up words. Like she was just making it up as she goes along. If you accuse her of that, though, she will just smile charmingly at you and go about her business. That's not because Sera wants to be mysterious or that she wants to confuse anyone. It's that she doesn't really know why, or even what, she is singing.

The first time it had happened, it had scared her, but she came to accept it rather quickly. Whatever it was that she was singing always was in tune with things she would put words to. So if she was singing something happy, and then started singing in the strange, rolling language that she has come to think of as her own, that song will also be happy. Though, one thing she has noticed is that when she was singing in the strange launguage, her magic seemed to have a stronger effect on those who were open to it.

As far as Tiya goes, compared to the rest of her race, she has a rather low amount. That fact has never botherd her. Since her ability is almost a passive one, she never needs an abundence of Tiya.

The magical ability that she developed was directly tied to her singing, and she was thrilled about that. The best way she has to explain it is that by singing she can emphasize the emotions that are already present. Sera never explains it beyond that, swirling of with a wink and the swish of her skirts. Adding a little mystery to her act was ways a good idea.

To be perfectly honest, however, she knows a lot more about what she can do than she ever lets on. Sera doesn't care if people think she is shallow or so caught up with herself that she doesn't pay attention to anything but the stage she sings on. She knows what she is, and is very comfortable with that fact. There is a lot she still has to learn, but that will come in it's own time.

While waiting for that sort of divine guidence, she systematically tested her abilities. At first, she was concerned that she was making people feel things that they wouldn't normally, or that she was changing them in some way that they had no power to stop.

Turns out, that wasn't the case at all. Seraini learned a lot about her own power the first few years that she had it, refusing to perform until she better understood her gift. She had been afraid that she would be like the siren, that she would cause more harm than good.

But the Gods seemed to know her concerns, as her power turned out to be smaller and a bit more tricky than she had originally thought.

The first thing she found out was that her music could not affect anyone who wasn't willing to be affected. If someone was having a bad day and was angry or sad, and they wanted to stay that way, then her song was just a pretty melody, no magical effect at all. It always came back to the listener being willing to be influenced. Most of the time they were, as her magic determined before it took hold or flowed passed without touching. Seraini wasn't entirely sure how the Tiya knew, but it did and she had come to trust that.

The second thing is that she couldn't create emotions in others, merely amplify them if they wanted such a thing. If they didn't, they could still enjoy the song with no added effects, but if they were willing to be influenced, her Tiya would take the emotions that the person was already feeling and amplify them. So, if a willing person was happy, it would make them feel happier. Conversely, if a willing person was sad, their sadness could increase. Or if they were sad, but wanted to be happy, then her magic would improve that persons mood a bit.

It wasn't a magic, well it was magic, but it was not a magic fix-it cure. She couldn't take someone's pain away, merely give them a few minutes where it was more bareable. She couldn't settle disbutes, but she might be able to make things calmer so that they could settle their own issues.

It wasn't something she had much practice in, yet, but she wanted to see how her ability could help in meetings or negotiations where everyone was on edge, where they wanted to be calm so they could do whatever it was the needed to do, but where old feuds or emotions were keeping them from doing so. Maybe she could help. Maybe.

Since she could neither create or control emotions, but amplify them, most of her time was spent entertaining others. It made her almost giddy to be up on stage, singing to a crowd who really wants to hear her and lets her take their emotions and make them spiral up and out and just make everything amazing. It doesn't happen often, because there are usually people in the crowd that do not what to be influenced, so it doesn't work quite as well.

Still, there is nothing better than singing in front of a crowd.

One other thing that she does, that she is allowed to do since most of the negotiations and conflicts she would help with are a bit out of her league at the moment, is to help the berieved. No, she can't make it better, or make those feelings of greif and pain go away. But, she can help people grieve without shame, and remember their loved ones with love. Sera knew it only helped for a little while, but sometimes that's what was needed.

As far as other abilities went, Seraini didn't really think that anything other than her voice really mattered. But, she also has very good night vision, almost seeing at night the way others see during the day. And, provided it is not during the day, she can keep her body temperature very even, no matter what the weather is. During the day, though, she is always warm.

Though she is clumsy, she is also rather fast on her feet when she needs to be, able to act and react very quickly.

She has always been so focused on her singing that she doesn't really have any others of note. Whenever she was pulled aside to learn the things other people thought she should know, she just let her mind drift back to her music, composing it in the silences of her mind.

So it is quite safe to say that her voice and her Tiya are all she has. As she learns more about what she can do, and thinking up different way she could help others,, Seraini sometimes wishes that she could do more. But mostly she is content singing for her supper, so to speak, and leaving the hard work to others.

Another note that she deems important enough to mention is that her ability only works on the companion races, and not on Astrals. Seraini doesn't know why that is, maybe because the Astrals are so different from the companion races, or that they hear things differently. All she knows is that her song doesn't affect them. They can still enjoy it as her voice is lovely even without the magic boost, though.

-----Weaknesses: In some ways, it might seem like Seraini has more weaknesses than abilities. She just figured that it was the price she had to pay for what she was so good at.

The most obvious weakness is caused by her domain, sharing a similar skin color as an albino gave her some of the same problems. Like very little resistance to sunlike. If she is out in the sun without some sort of protection for longer than a couple of minutes, she will burn, and burn badly. She never tans, no matter how much she tries.

Her eyes are also very sensitive to the light, often causing headaches if she has to be out in direct sunlight for any length of time. Often, she will wear a blindfold or closed mask to protect her eyes from the light. Of course, that means she is walking around blind for all intents and purposes, but she is nearly blind in the daylight anywa so it doesn't bother her much, and as always, her Astral is there o guide her.

Something that may or may not be considered a weakness, but something she conciders one, is that she is very clumsy, often tripping over things that aren't there when she is moving about. It is less likely for her to trip over things at night, or when she is singing, but if she is up during the day, it is very likely she will trip over something. Her Pan'i normally stays close to her, visible or not, to make sure she has something she can grab onto if she starts to stumble.

Seraini is not very strong and she has no idea how to protect herself, if she needed to. She may be fast on her feet, but that doesn't do her any good during the day, or if she trips and falls, so she relies almost completely on her Pan'i to protect her if something should happen. Of course, her biggest weakness in this area is that she never thinks anything bad is going to happen to her, so if something does, she will be completely unprepared for it.

-----Prompt
It wasn't often that they attended festivals, mostly because of the large crowds and the fact most of the things happened during the day. And Seraini was not good at daylight, in general. But it was the Festival of Masks, and everyone was in Sero to celebrate.

She was wearing a variation of her normal outfit, still keeping mostly in black, but adding a large mask that covered most of her face. A celestial moon covered the left half of her face, while a simple black mask shielded her eyes from the sun. Sera was trying to keep to the shade of the buildings as much as possible, already feeling overly warm and uncomfortable being among so many people. With her eyesight as poor as it was during the day, she felt a little giddy, like she was taking a risk in stepping away from the Caravan to join in the festival in the city. It wasn't like it was a big risk, a lot of people were there. She made sure not to bring any money with her, or anything of real value so she wouldn't be targeted by pickpockets, and she just planned on enjoying the festival as a patron instead of a performer.

Most of her skin was covered by her clothing, but what wasn't was already starting to burn, even though she had only been there for a short time. Sera knew she wouldn't be able to stay outside for long.

Fen, is there any place we can get out of the sun? She directed her throughts at her Astral. Normally, she would speak out loud, because it always felt weird to think in his general direction. But she hadn't felt the telltale touch of his scales or his nose, prodding her gently in the right direction in quite a while. At first, she hadn't been concerned with it, just moving along with the crowd, confident that if she needed him, Fengari would be there. She knew he had issues with crushing crowds like this one, so maybe he was hovering above her, watching her to make sure she was safe? Which was fine, the crowd was enough of a guide to keep her mostly upright and going in the right direction. Or what she hoped was the right direction, it wasn't like she could really tell. She wasn't quite blind in this light, but at best she could make out the shapes of the buildings and the strange and bright distorted masks meant to be faces.

Fengari? Serani asked after she got a no response. That wasn't like him, not at all, and she was about to turn around and try to look for him when the crwod surged forward, or at least the part of the crowd she was in. There had to be something going on, because the people were cheering loudly and pushing to get closr to the front. Sera stumbled a bit, hands reaching out to stop her from falling completely. Whoever it was she grabbed onto, though, was not happy about it and shoved her away from them. She ran into someone who was very tall and sturdy, and then bounced right off him. Her? Sera cried out softly as she was shoved around, her voice lost in the noise of the crowd.

FEN! It was all she could do not to scream out his name. Where was he? Her eyes started to fill with tears, feeling suddenly alone and very scared. Her head was pounding, though be it due to the sunlight or the way her heart was pounding in his chest, she couldn't tell.

-aini!!

The Pan'i's voice came through, broken and fragmented, like he was talking to hr over some great distance. Had she really wandered so far. Sera tried to turn, tried to find the way she should try to go, when someone ran into her. She couldn't tell if it was on purpose or not, but rough hands grabbed at her mask and yanked it off, pulling some of her hair with it. The sudden pain and the amount of light shining through her eyelids made it impossibe to see who had taken her mask. The crowd continued to jostle her until she fell against some sort of stone wall? Building? She couldn't see, her head hurt, and she could already feel the skin on her face starting to burn. Sera was crying now, too, shaking with far and confusion and pain. The world continued to swirl around her, people brushing past her as she fought to stay in one place, fingers skidding against the smooth stone wall, trying desperately to find purchase.

Seraini closed her eyes tightly, tears making tracks down her cheeks, and she summoned the energy, and possibily the magic, to open her mouth and scream. "FENGARI! HELP ME!"

It was only moment later when she heard the crowd around her scatter and the familiar sound of cloven hooves on the pavement to land nearby. Sera could feel him now, so she threw herself forward, climbing up on his back and clinging to his neck, face buried against Fen's mane.

They had gotten seperated early on, lost in the dizzying mass of people. but Fengari couldn't sense any distress from his companion so he had turned himself invisible and drifted above the crowd. Of course, he would rather be by her side, but the press of so many people made it almost impossible to stay close to her. Still, he should have stayed closer.

The first hint he had that something was wrong was when Sera called out to him, but the message was jumbled and unclear. It was then that he realized he had lost sight of her among the mass of people, that she could be anywhere in the crowd below.

He started calling out to her, flying above the heads of the people who were, in his eyes, keeping him from his companion. He didn't even know if his messages were getting through, though he could feel her growing distress. But he just couldn't pinpoint her location until he heard her scream, the sound scraping along his nerves, shrill and high and terrible.

Fen spotted her, slumped up against a wall, clinging to it like it was the only thing keeping her still as the people moved around her. Her scream, though, drove the people back. Not out of any magic she possessed, but by the force of her voice alone. She sang for her living, usually to large groups so she had to be loud to be heard, and it was like she was using every bit of that sound to call to him and to make people step back with their hands to the ears because of how shrill and off-key she sounded. Even he could tell there was no magic in that terrifed sound, but it was enough for him to pinpoint her. He practically had to dive at the people who were still milling around his companion to get them to move enough where he could land close enough to her. His glowing glare made short work of any straglers, the flow of people moving around them now, they they were a fixed point.

Fen was barely on the ground for a few moments when his companion pushed away from the wall, somehow lacking the mask that had been her only protection from the sun, and had her arms wrapped around his neck. Fen nosed her gently, but didn't say anything. Words, even ones put straight into her mind, would have little meaning. Fen directed her to sit on his back, making sure she was well balanced before raising himself slowly from the ground.

Fengari was sure they were making quite the spectacle, with how many people were pointing at them and speaking to those around them. But he paid them no mind, rising like the Moon itself. There was no way he was going to fight the crowds to get them back to the Caravan on foot, so he just took them up and up and up, until they were above the city and he could see the Caravan. Seraini didn't look up from his neck until he landed and ushered her into her darkened wagon, trying to allow her to rest from all the sunlight. Serani curled up in a tight little ball on the cot she normally slept in and was asleep in moment.

Fen, however, stood watch over her. Part of him wanted to go track down whoever it was who had stolen her mask, but the majority of him knew he was needed here, right at her side. Where he should have been all along.

Companion

-----Name: Kaerian
----------Approval

-----Rp Color: #98643A

-----Race: Rinkono

-----Gender: Male

-----Age: 16

-----Personality: Kaerian is rather shy, especially when around strangers. He tends to be very quiet, and slips away when he thinks no one is looking. For the record, he is nowhere near as stealthy as he thinks he is. Still, the fact that he was small for his race and almost sickly thin made it easy for him to move around unnoticed by many. Since he really can't defend himself well, that's more a blessing than anything. For all that he is shy, though, because when he had been living with his family every one of his ideas and thoughts were crushed, it is not his normal state of being. Underneath that shy exterior lies a steely mind, cold calculation, and a the fire of s warrior. Even if he didn't have the body of one.
Kaerian is smart. Very smart. Smart enough that he could probably outwit generals and pirates and anyone else if he put his mind to it. Mostly he thinks in terms of battle and warfare, judging the qualities of a person by how well they would hold up in any number of possible scenarios that he keeps running in his head. Even though he is perfectly aware of the fact that in the majority of the scenarios he runs as a possible occurrence, he will not win. In most, he will not survive. He knows his own weakness and doesn't make any apologies for it. It just is, just like he is smarter than almost everyone he has ever met.
He is not arrogant, nor does he phrase his ideas or concepts in a way that is condescending. Most of the time. Sometimes, he can't help it because they people he is around are just idiotic and need to be spoken down too. But he tries to keep what he is saying and how he behaves on par with whomever he was with. Kaer is fully aware of what it is like to be excluded or ignored, so he is always very careful not to do those things.
Not that it is appreciated very often, because who really cares what a runt like him thinks?
Still, his intelligence is what he prizes above all other things. But, he doesn't flaunt it, not anymore. After years of being ignored or laughed at, even though he was right, he figured it's best to seem like he is of average intelligence. It always makes him a little edgy, because it skirts the first of the tenants of the Rikono Code. "You will be honest and just in all business and personal relationships." But it's not like he's lying just... letting people think what they want. If he was asked flat out if he was really smart, he would be honest, of course. However, that's not a thing that comes up in regular conversations.
Of course, another tenant of the Code always sort of stuck in his craw. " You will only take a challenge you believe you can take on. Brain over brawn, and logic over pride." Not as it related to him, but as to how others treated him. He knew it was just because he was young and untested, but it still made something deep within him furious.
Still, he was in no position to change how he was treated, not yet. That's why he was going to prove himself... somehow. Kaerian had already taken the first few steps by leaving home, but that wouldn't be enough.
There were vague notions of a plan that would make people listen and respect him, but most of those involved real world events that he had no control over. Like war.
Kaer knew he would find his way, though, given the right opportunities, but until then, he was going to wander the world, figure out it's races, and use his intelligence to sell his services as a scribe or something to make money. He just need one chance to prove himself. That's all he wanted. One chance.

-----History: Born to a Rikono General and a housewife, he was born early, small, and sickly. It was never said, but Kaer knew he was a disappointment to them. He spent a lot of his time growing up reading, because that was all he could really do. He couldn't play with the other kids, couldn't train with his father, or even keep up with his older halfbreed brother. Of course, his older brother was gone by the time he was nine, so there wasn't much opportunity anyway. As a child, he felt that his mother even preferred the halfbreed to him, because he was strong and Kaer wasn't, because he was healthy and Kaer wasn't, because if he had been a pureblood Rikono, he would be celebrated for his strengths and skills, and Kaer... was overlooked and ignored.
His parents when on to have another child, who was practically perfect by Rikono standards. and Kaerian felt lost.
So he studied whatever he could get his hands on. Most of what he had available to him at first was just the basic primers, and he flew through them, refusing to even look at them or any of what his tutors wanted him to see. Kaer felt like it was a waste of his time. Luckily, once his mother was busy with the new baby, he was left on his own a large portion of the time, and he could look into what he really wanted too. Military history.
Kaer started with what he could find around the house, in his father's study where he wasn't supposed to go but did anyway. He read through histories and battle plans and solider specifications, making notes on loose paper with a colored stick of wax. He was only 7 after all, and his mother wouldn't let him have anything else.
In only a few months, though, he had exhausted everything in his house and had started making corrections to things in the books. He would cross things out and write "this won't work, do this instead" and scribble mostly complete modifications that would totally work better, if they were ever implemented. Since most of them were notations on battles long past, it was likely none of them were ever noticed.
Kaerian was nine when his father left his work out one weekend that he was home and Kaer got a hold of it. Fortunately, though, his older half-brother was causing tension between his parents, so no one noticed that Kaerian took his fathers work and started to correct it.
Of course, the didn't notice right away. It wasn't until his father had left for work that someone finally noticed. His father came storming back home after his day had barely started, startling everyone. After about a hour of yelling, with Kaerian just sinking down in his chair, wishing that it would swallow him whole and his older half brother defending him, his father stormed back out to work.
Later that day, his older half brother, Vaixen, left and never came back.
Later that week, Kaer found out that the plan that his father and the other general's had implemented had failed, just like Kaer said it would, and cost the lives of many soldiers.
Kaerian was brought into a dark room, where a bunch of strange adults asked him a bunch of strange questions. They would have asked more, probably kept him there forever, but the stress of being in a new place, a hostile place, where everyone was telling him how wrong he was, took it's toll, and he fell ill. Fainted right in the middle of the proceedings.
When he woke up, they made him promise not to look at his father's work without permission ever again. And he made that promise, though it pained him to do so.
It took him a while to recover, and he spent that time in bed, or on his floor, reading. Always reading.

Time passed, and he got older, but not better. He was still weak and even his little brother surpassed him at even the most simple of physical tasks. Even though he had pretty strong Tiya for his race, it was purely defensive and was too hard on his body most of the time, so he couldn't use it very often without suffering from extreme fatigue.
Mentally, though, he outstripped them all, and he knew it. It was just that, after what had happened with his father, he was reluctant to say anything, and even more so to put quill to parchment and record his thoughts.
Even though it was hard for him to do, he tried anyway. Every time he noticed something off about a military venture, or training proceeding, or even far reaching events, he would speak up. He would try to get them to listen to him, fingers nervously playing with the ends of his long hair and ears pinned back, waiting for what he was sure was going to happen. And every time it did. He was scolded for looking into things that weren't his concern and his changes and predictions were ignored. Even though it always happened the way he said it would. Always.
Kaerian was never wrong and it bothered him so much that no one would listen to him.
He knew it was because he was physically weak, because he couldn't run for more than a half mile without falling over, wheezing, and he couldn't fight to save his life. They must have thought that because he couldn't do the things he was telling them to do, that he couldn't possibly know what he was talking about.
But he did. And every time his warnings were ignored, and people were hurt because of it, he got a little more fed up.
By the time of his sixteenth birthday, he'd had enough. In the wee hours of the morning, Kaerian packed a bag, took what money he had, and left on foot. If he was ever going to get anyone to listen to him, he had to prove himself first.

Now he just had to figure out how.

-----Occupation: Kaerian doesn't really have an occupation, or know what it would be like to have one. Sure, he's smart, but he lacks real world experience. Mostly, he offers his services as a scribe or anything similar when he starts running out of money. Ideally, he would be in a position where he could use his tactical intelligence for the greater good, but he knew he was a long way off from being able to do that.

-----Appearence: Kaerian is small by anyone's standards, only standing around 5'2. If he stretches. He is pale and usually has bags under his eyes. Not from lack of sleep, but they are just naturally there all the time. It's probably because his immune system has more in common with the Machka than with his own race. Kaerian is most definitely what you would call the runt of the litter.
He has long brown hair with a tuft of black in front. Normally, he has it pulled over one shoulder, because he messes with it when he is nervous about something, and given his general disposition, he is usually nervous about something. Again, this is only his current state. He will regain that confidence in himself after trials.
Kaer has very pale blue eyes, and soft features, giving him the look of someone young and vulnerable, which don't get me wrong, he really is, but less than someone would imagine. Since his strengths are more mental that physical, he doesn't have the body or the strength that others of his race have. He is small and frail, and the point of that is that he knows it so he is always trying to come up with new ways to do things that don't rely on strength that he doesn't have.
Kaerian has large, fluffy ears that echo his hair colors, so his hearing is pretty good, a sight better than others who didn't actually know how to listen. In everyday wear, he prefers grays or other neutral colors. It makes him stand out less, which is what he wants. Loose shirts and rugged pants make most of his wardrobe, and there is very little variety there. A pair of strong boots and a large bag is pretty much all he has, right now. He keeps a few pairs of shirts and pants in the bag, along with everything else he thought to bring with him. Wasn't much, mostly some food that would rot and some money. Kaerian was setting out on his adventure with a little more than just the shirt on his back, but not much.

-----Location: Current whereabouts unknown, but he did leave from Barearav, since that is the city his family calls home.

-----Abilities: Flat out, Kaerian is a genius, no questions about that. There isn't a problem in the world that he couldn't solve, provided he had enough data to do so. Since most of educational sources were military, he saw the world through war-colored glasses, always running scenarios in his head both for him and for those he meets, judging people competent or not after a single glance. There are some disadvantages as well, weakness detailed in the next section, but he is scary-smart, and he remembers.

Since his physical stature leaves a lot to be desired, his family never trained him in that way. So, he missed out on everything but the basic basics, and even with that, he had a lot of trouble. He has some simple survival knowledge, but he didn't really learn it from his tutors, and he has the basics of defense down, but there really isn't a point for him to use those defensive maneuvers. He just doesn't have the strength to back any of it up. Which was just fine by him. He had his own plans anyway.
Knowing he couldn't rely on his physical self for much of anything, he relied on his mental capacity. There was rarely a situation he couldn't think his way around. Now, whether or not he could actually do anything about it once he figured it out was another matter. Sometimes, the only way out was through, or that's what they said. And without the physical prowess that most of the other races possessed, he knew he was at a large disadvantage. He didn't let it get him down, though.

After all, he could out-think, out-maneuver, and out-smart just about everyone. And that, that, made him dangerous.

It wasn't something that you'd think, looking at him, but his mind, cold and calculating, made him someone that should be taken seriously. Years of being ignored and his ideas thrown back in his face took their toll, of course, so he was shy and hesitant to use his abilities in almost anyway, because he always thought that the past would repeat itself. And he didn't think he could deal with the rejection over and over again. But in the back of his mind, there is a part of him that is cold, that watches everything with calculating eyes and sees how he could do it better. So. Maybe he should?

-----Weaknesses: Physical weakness aside, because as stated, he is very weak and very sickly, and that is something that probably isn't going to change much.
He can barely hold a sword, let alone use it. The best he can do is use a belt knife, the same one he uses for food and everyday things, as a defensive weapon. Kaer can't hunt for food, but he can set traps for animals that he wouldn't be able to track down on his own. First and foremost, his only real defense is his wits, and that doesn't always hold up.
On top of the physical stuff, he does have mental weaknesses as well. Mostly it comes from being isolated. Kaer has a lot of knowledge, but most of it has been gleaned from books and reports, not from first hand experience. So, there is a large gap in his knowledge: people. Personal interactions, emotions, everyday stuff that everyone else understands, he tends to... miss. It just doesn't register, and it's because he has had little to no interaction with people outside his family, and none whatsoever with any of the other races, so it is a very big weakness, the hole in his knowledge, because he knows that people are driven, by a general rule, by their emotions and personal experiences. Only time and experience, though, will rectify that. It's one of the reasons he set out from home to 'prove' himself, to increase his knowledge of other races and their motivations so he could better predict how they would react in any one of the hundreds of possible scenarios he comes up with on a daily basis.
