Character Name: Vaixen
Age: 23
Race: Halfbreed - Human x Rikono
Gender: Male
Appearance: Vaixen is 5'9, but build thin, wiry. He is strong, though, his whole body conditioned to fight using his weapons. He has black hair that is kept long enough that he can braid it and twist it around to both keep it out of his face and hide the slight points to his ears. As a halfbreed, he mostly takes after his human side, enough that if he tired, he could pass himself off as human. The only obvious physical traits are his slightly pointed ears, usually hidden by his hair, and that his teeth are sharper and slightly pointed.
He has blue eyes and tan skin, spending most of his time outside. Under his armor, of course, he is rather pale. Normally, Vaixen will be leather armor covering his torso, but leaving his arms bare, and a pair of black pants that tucked into leather, armored boots. He wears a white belt with a black sheath, holding a sharp short sword. This is something he always wears, even when he is sleeping. The sword is not his main weapon, but it is for personal defense. In a sheath behind the one for his sword is a smaller knife he uses for everyday things.
HIs main weapon is a Glaive, similar to the one on the avatar. It is a long pole weapon with a single-edged blade on the edge. There is also usually a hook type of thing on the back of the knife to grab and move enemies. The knife part has a hook sheath, basically a bit of leather that hooks over the sharp part of the blade, that is quick and easy to remove, even if Vaixen can't reach the end of his glaive. Also, it only protects from the most basic of cuts. If Vaixen puts in the effort, the glaive will still do a good deal of damaged 'sheathed'. (I will actually draw out his weapons at some point, since that is like the only thing I can draw xD)
To handle the glaive without damaging his hands or arms, he wears thin, black leather gloves that reach up to his shoulder. That way, no matter how he moves the glaive, he will not be harmed but the blade or the pole.
He keeps a red ribbon tied around the end of his glaive.

Abilities: Vaixen is very skilled with both his glaive and his short sword, training with them nearly every day that he is not on a job or mission. His ability with the weapons great, however not out of the bounds of what any other human or rikono would be able to do, if they put the time and effort into it. Vaix is also skilled in maintaining his weapons, using a whetstone and other things where necessary to keep them sharp and in good condition.
He is skilled in hunting with a sling (usually for small game or birds).
Vaixen is also good at outdoor survivial. Such as making a fire, making/finding food, making shelter if necessary, hunting and protecting himself from anything in the wild. Including things that shouldn't be there.
He has rudimentary skills in mending his clothing. He cannot mend his armor or various other leather items, like his sheathes. For that, he has to go into a city and get them repaired or replaced.
As a halfbreed, he has keen senses than humans do, but not quite as keen as he senses of a purebook Rikono. His hearing, sense of smell, and eyesight all fall in that area, better than humans but slightly less than Rikono. He also has more stamina than the average human, being able to cross long distances at an easy lope with llittle effort.
He has no magic ability.
Vaixen can pass himself off as human if necessary, but finds their behavior toward other races tiresome and annoying. He cannot pretend to be Rikono, even though he is a halfbreed. He doesn't think either of these things are a problem because he doesn't like how most humans behave, and he doesn't stick to the Rikono code of honor, so it's not like he would be welcome anyway.
Weaknesses:
Because of his lack of magical ability, that is his largest weakness. He trains as much as he can to close to gap between his physical abilities and someone else's magical ones. As far as fighting goes, he will attack quickly and accurately to try to keep the magical benefit of someone else at bay. Even if the blow doesn't land, Vaixen knows that it is hard to concentrate on magic things when dodging the butt end of a glaive. If at all possible, he tries to avoid anyone who can use offensive magics.
His enhanced senses can also be a weakness at times. He tends to avoid central parts of cites or towns because they are loud and smell funny, and just the mass of noise and scents makes it hard for him to distinguish friend from foe.
Vaixen is not very good in crowds. They get his hackles up, so to speak, make him jittery and snappish, uncomfortable around so many others.
He is alone most of the time, with the exception of his Astral. Vaixen says he doesn't mind being alone, but he does get lonely. It is also a defensive nightmare, since it is really hard to set a proper watch while others slept. Without Arecio to guard his back, he knew that he would be in big trouble. Especially given what he chooses to do with his life.
He has poor communication skills as well, since he is alone most of the time and doesn't seek the company of others. It makes it hard for other people to understand him because he will speak the way he speaks, without regard for the way things are really spoken. It also becomes a problem when he is looking for a new job to take.
His fighting style is mostly offensive, lacking in any defensive tool such as a shield. Vaixen uses the pole of his glaive as his ownly defensive measure. His belief that it is better to strike quickly and get the battle over before his opponent, or opponents have a chance to strike back. So, he is lacking in the defensive areas.
Also, he lacks the support of anyone outside his Astral. It makes him distrustful of others.
Occupation: Vaixen is a mercenary, or sell-sword. He travels from town to town, offering his services for a price. The reason for this, why he won't join the military or law enforcement, is that as as a sell-sword, he controls who he fights for and why. Even though he doesn't keep the the Rikono code of honor, he does have one of his own. And he uses what he does as an excuse to fight for what he believes in at the time. He will even accept jobs that he truely feels are important for very little in the way of payment. For example, if there was a very poor mother with children who needed to travel a goodly distance, he would travel with them and protect them against all comers for, like, a slice of bread. That way he can say he was 'paid', even though he was really only doing what he felt was right.
He also can be picky about who he works for. If a merchant has a bad reputation, or if someone else who wants to hire him is involved in some shady business, he will not work for them. And, sometimes, if he feels that the person trying to hire him is crossing some major line, he will deal out his own sort of justice. Free of charge.
Even though he is a halfbreed and knows there are people out there who have a probelm with that, Vaixen doesn't discriminate based on race. Most humans can't tell he is anything but human, but some of the other races with keener senses might be able to tell he is a halfbreed. Anyone who is observant should be able to notice, though, simply by his behavior. Like, wincing at noises that are only slightly loud to humans, but are hard on his sensetive ears. Or using his nose to find things, things like that which will be expressed in rp.
Personality: Vaixen is, among other things, an honorable and loyal person. He tries not to judge anyone based on race, the way he was judged, but my their actions.
Like his Astral, he can be a bit of a wild card. If someone managed to get him on their side through coersion or deception, watch out. He is most definitely the type to turn on his 'owner'. He doesn't like to be bound to any structured way of doing things, or any sprt of structured beliefs. He lets the situation guide him, and his feeling guide him. Vaix has no respect for authority that has not proven itself to him, personally. If he saw a member of the guard or military save a bunch of kids from a burning building, that individual would have his respect. If someone expects respect based solely on their position, well, they got another thing coming.
Dispite the fact that Vaixen is alone most of the time, he does crave companionship. He takes pride in his Astral, one mercenary to another, and in his astral's familiar, but he knows that at somepoint he is going to have to find someone he can call friend, at the very least. It is a thing he's avoided as much as possible. Mainly, because he doesn't want to deal with the prejudices of the other races, including both of the ones he should be apart of. He's heard tales of places, or races, that might accept a halfbreed like him, but he doesn't put my stock in rumor. It's something he feels he can't hope for, so he avoids it.
Vaixen will never turn away someone who needs help, even if they can't really pay him. He firmly believes that he needs to use his skills, his training, and his abilities to help those who cannot help themselves. Vaix will never call himself a hero, making sure to get some sort of payment out of everyone he helps, even if that payment is a joke, just so that he can say he'd been paid to do the things he did. He doesn't want that kind of reputation. Vaix is afraid that if the world were to see that he is a good person at heart, not someone obsessed with weath or status, that the world would take advantage of him. And the world has been mean enough.
He has no family that he would call as such. Vaix doesn't even know who his human father is, and while his mother did raise him, it was with regret. When he was younger, he would slink around his home, his town, everywhere, sure he had done something wrong just by being born. It wasn't a nice feeling. He wrote them all off when he left home because he couldn't stand it anymore. It's why he's alone now, with the exception of his Astral. He just can't trust that someone would want to be near him for any reason than do use him in one way or another. And he doesn't plan on giving them a chance.
Still, with what he does for a living, he has to be in direct contact with others. It's a necessary evil that gives him temporary companionship with people. That transient feeling of belonging, if only for a little while, has kept him going since he started being a mercenary.
He does have a temper though, like his Astral, usually kept in check by his training and his morals. But, if someone rouses that temper, Gods help that someone, for he and his Astral are both creatures of war and will rain destruction down on those who offend.
Back Story/Character History:
Born to a Rikono mother, Vaixen always felt... unwelcome, like he was a burden his mother had to bare. It didn't help that he looked almost completely human, so he couldn't even attempt to pretend to be anything other than he was. A halfbreed.
As he grew older, and missed out on the opportunities that others his age were given, he realised that the one reason his mother was keeping him was because of the Code of Honor that they were all supposed to follow. It rankled, that thought, burrowed deep into his conscious mind and poisoned all his interactions with his so-called family.
They didn't want him. They were only tolerating him because of some silly code. He would never be accepted there.
So, one dark, moonless night, he left home and never looked back. He was about sixteen at the time.
In a fit of pique, though, he kept the name he was given so that if anyone bothered to try and traces his origins, they would find at least his mother's side of the family. Some sign that he didn't just crawl out of the earth, fully formed.
It was hard on him at first, being on his own. Because he was a halfbreed, he didn't get the same training that the others did. He was taught of some the basics, of course, and came to rely heavily on them to survive out in the wilderness on his own.
Vaix did not flee to another town or city, he stayed in the woods as much as possible, trying to avoid everyone and everything. As a teenager, he hated the world and everything in it. He didn't understand why he was punished for simply being born, or what he was supposed to do now.
It wasn't until he ran into, literally, a Caelesti.Vaix wasn't sure who was more surpirsed, him or the Astral, but looking back, Vaix had a feeling it wasn't chance that tossed the two of them together.
True to the rumors, Astral's could not survive long without a Companion. For some reason, this one had formed without one, and was looking ready to fade back into stardust.
As far as Vaxien could tell, the Astral manfested for an important reason, some battle or war what Vaix was unaware of, and now that the Astral had done what he intended, he lost the drive that was keeping him on the ground without a companion.
It took only a moment, though, to realize that they were meant to do more than meet that day. Vaixen had heard that Astral's needed someone, and honestly, he knew he needed someone too. Sharing his energy with the Caelisti was easy enough, even though it took more than a few days to get the Astral back into fighting shape, and more than that for Vaixen to recover from the process. But, once it was done, he knew he would have a companion for as long as he lived.
It was an exciting thing, too. The Caelesti was a creature after his own heart, a creature of war.
Since he was still young and untrained, Vaix let the Astral, who introduced himself as Arecio, start the procress of getting him on his feet.
The spent most of their time together, but alone out in the wilderness. Vaix didn't want to face anyone until he was strong enough to fight for whatever cause he saw fit too. Arecio felt the same, though he wwas an old hat at war. Still, between the two of them, their skills multipled and grew until they were both as fighting fit as they could be.
It was Arecio who gave him the idea to become a mercenary, to pick and choose his clients based on his own beliefs. Not to rely on anyone other than himself and his Astral. Vaixen felt that it was the two of the against the world, but he was still determined to help those less fortunate than himself. Getting paid to do it was, honestly, just a bonus.
