Overview
Soul Society has existed for millennia in one form or another along side Earth and Hueco Mundo and usually time passes at a similar rate. With the events of the Chariin and the near annihilation of Soul Society itself the time passage of Soul Society was temporarily unlinked from the passage of the Earth accelerating much faster.
After the destruction of the Gotei 13 and the major populated areas and the half eradication of Hueco Mundo. Soul Society has barely managed to have a chronology at all.

In The Beginning
Earth Circa 2000
The events of Bleach and the tale of Soul Society had consequences throughout Earth, Soul Society and Hueco Mundo bringing a new glory to Soul Society ultimately.

The Hollow Within
Earth Circa 2090
Soul Society's 1st Division suffered a crucifying loss after the failure to protect a research installation on earth (source). Subsequent research lead to the reformation of the 1st Division and a new sortie was sent out this time with the 1st Division Vice Captain helping out. The research installation was reclaimed, the Hollow were expunged and the Gotei 13 were victorious...or so they thought. It was noticeable that research had been found missing to a massive raid on Hueco Mundo to find the information to no avail.

With the world mostly at rest a widely known religious order was beginning to make gains at a surprising rate so much so that Soul Society took note especially after some Shinigami stopped returning from their patrols.
A joint strike on Soul Society by the Chariin and Hueco Mundo lead to the almost annihilation of Soul Society and the major residential areas were completely destroyed. Furthermore spirits for the most part except in very small amounts were going to Soul Society, mostly due to the absence of the Shinigami to collect them and other means currently unknown. Hueco Mundo suffered badly also from this loss.

The first spirits began to arrive back in Soul Society years after the harm that the Chariin had done had finally faded and are left to contend with an almost desolate world, violent ground tremors and severe storms.
