Rallying those with proper transportation, Kyou called forth any and all of the party goers - whether they had seen the catastrophe inside firsthand or not - to join him on the mad hunt for Fel Essences.

Since there is only one detection device for fel essences, and the fel essences had been scattered all over the city of Gaia, Kyou had to whip up some quick magic in order to help with the search.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Each team will get a petri dish filled with water, with a silver sewing needle in it. The silver needle will help guide the team to the nearest fel essence that they will need to recapture. However, unlike the device that Kyou has that has a huge tracking distance, the silver needle in the petri dish can only track fel essence in a half mile radius, and it will cease to function by midnight.

Each team will also get a bag filled with a handful of empty glass vials and jars that is meant to keep fel essences within. Because Kyou has a feeling that the scattered fel essences might not be in their original vessels anymore. Inside each vial and jar is a small piece of paper with inscriptions on it. It is meant to draw in fel essences that has no physical form, such as fel essences related to sound or wind. However they will need to be fairly close to the fel essence in order for this to happen. This was also a last minute magic that Kyou came up with, because he will be unable to come with the teams for the hunt due to his... disability. He would only slow everybody down. Should the teams run out of glass vials or jars, they could return to the Lab where Kyou is for more.

Fel essences are radioactive, although they have a fairly low level of it.That is why they should be handled with care. The radioactivity of fel essences are harmless to Raevans though, so if permissible, it is best to have a Raevan handle the fel essence. If that option is not viable, it is best to protect yourself when retrieving the fel essence. Whether with gloves or other form of protection. It is best not to have skin contact with the fel essence, as it might have long term effects.

With that said, when the teams are ready, they should head out and search for the missing fel essences.

[1] This meta event works similarly to the Meaning of Fear meta a few years back. With a few adjustments.
[2] Each group will get their own threads to RP in. Your RP opponent or what I prefer to call 'Game Master' will be the shop mule Anachrophobia who will be replying in the form of RP prompts to give you challenges and reply to your reactions.
[3] The shop mule will start the thread, but the participants will be the one to start the RP.
[4] Please roll a 6-sided dice when you start the RP. This will decide where you start your RP at. It is best advised to assign one person to do this, preferably the person starting the RP. Please refer to list below for the numbered locations. You may decide/describe how said location look like.
[5] The groups this time had been predetermined, you don't get to choose who to go with. IC-ly, it is Kyou trying to equalize the amount of people in each group and the balance of strengths. The method of deciding who is in which group, is half randomized and half personally assigned by me.
[6] Dice rolling might be prompted from the GM, to determine what may or may not happen, or decide where you go next.
[7] You and your team can decide the posting order. The Game Masters don't really care.
[8] THIS RULE IS IMPORTANT!!!!!! When it is your turn to reply in the RP, you only have 3 DAYS (aka 72 hours) to reply. If you don't, the Game Master will butt in and remove your character from the meta permanently. The next person in the posting order will have 3 days from the Game Master's reply to reply as well.
[9] The rule above only applies to characters. If you signed up two characters for the meta, congratulations!! You got a second chance. If you didn't, goodbye. However, the Game Master chooses who to KO.
[10] As this is a time sensitive RP event, please do not be pressured to write long elaborate RP posts. You need to progress through the city and not linger. That also means, please do not expect long replies from the mule either.
[11] Only characters that had been signed up for in the Meta sign up thread and had 'checked in' in the ORP event before the bird shenanigans can participate in this Meta event.
[12] When the Game Master enters your RP rotation, they are part of the RP rotation! You are not allowed to skip over a GM post or conveniently forgot about them because you're too excited. Game Masters will delete your extra posts if this happens.
[13] Your quest to find the fel essences will end when you have found 5 fel essences, or when the one month period had passed. Certainly, even if you've found 5 fel essences and wish to continue, please inquire to do so!

After Kyou had assigned teams to search for the missing -- or rather, stolen -- fel essences, Ian let out a heavy sigh and raked a hand through his hair. It tamed the wild strands a bit from their bird-induced rat's nest, but not by much. He turned to Eden and smiled, but received only a vaguely worried and confused pout in return. "We have to go get them? Why us?" She asked, carefully trying to fix her own hair. There was a dull purple bruise blooming on her cheekbone, along with a few on her arms and chest. But after his quick examination, Ian hadn't found any serious injuries on the nymph.

"Yes, I suppose so. If we can help, we should," he murmured. With a somewhat half-hearted wink at Eden, he added, "But at least we get to search Gambino, so we don't have to go far."

This served to cheer the Frei up a bit, earning a soft giggle. "So who are we with? Um... Yves and Yuri- and Cruz? I think Yuri is the wolf Raevan," she said as she scanned the crowd that had assembled loosely around Dr. Kyou earlier, looking for those fluffy ears.

"Yes, good. And Cruz is the Raevan with green hair, he's a crocodile. I think you'll like him." He smiled and reached for her hand, pleased when she didn't pull away. On the bright side -- however dim it may be -- perhaps this experience would allow them to get closer. He'd felt rather distant from Eden since she'd arrived, despite all his attempts. Eden squeezed her guardian's hand as they managed to assemble their small group, offering a smile despite the unusually hesitant nature of the expression. Apparently even her straightforward personality was no match for such an unsettling turn of events.

Ian cleared his throat, rubbing at the back of his neck anxiously. "Well, um I know Cruz, but... This is Eden, and I'm Ian." He smiled, focusing mainly on introducing himself to Yves and Yuri and Eden to Cruz. "We're supposed to look in Gambino, so... why don't we try the pier first? It's fairly close."

Cruz was reluctant to leave those he braved the birds with but he was too shaken to fuss about it either. He glided absently toward Ian, the one of his team he recognized by name, though he had to say that one of the other names sounded familiar - he just couldn't place it.

When he arrived, his green eyes were a bit dull and there was little smile on his face. Any neutrality on his face melted away once he was introduced to Eden, first with awestruck admiration and then a worried pout. Cruz let out a small noise as he spied the bruise blooming on Eden's cheek. He reached out reflexively but stopped short, pulled back and held his own hand as if to keep it in check.

"Hi, Eden," he said, rather pitifully, and attempted to give her a smile to match, "I'm Cruz." Cruz glanced Ian over as well, brows knitting tight above his nose to see the man had gotten scraped as well.

Again, his expression shifted once he caught sight of Yves and Yuri, a stark recognition of the guardian from many months back. Even with it being announced the man's name was slipping through his fingers already so, rather than speak, Cruz waved. He gave an apologetic smile and a nod to both he and Yuri, whom he would introduce himself to properly after they figured things out but even as Ian spoke Cruz found himself admiring the frei's fluffy ears.

"That sounds good," Cruz answered, finally tearing himself away from soaking in the new faces, "I live around here so I know the area pretty well."

The entire ordeal had left Yves wide-eyed and short of breath and Yuri in a less-than-spectacular state, himself. Just moments earlier, Yuri had been meeting some new friends and, while the group interaction had been somewhat stressful, he'd been enjoying himself.

When the birds attacked, Yuri was no longer enjoying himself. His guardian had taken him to safety, but it had not been an easy feat; Yuri wanted to fight every bird that came close to him or his guardian. It had taken all of Yves' strength to drag his sizable Raevan away from the swarming flock of birds, but neither managed to escape without several cuts and scratches.

It took him a few minutes, but soon Yuri was back to breathing normally, although his eyes were still wide and darting about his surroundings. He jumped when Yves placed a hand against his back.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Eden, Ian," Yves greeted wearily, casting a small smile toward the group. He remembered Cruz, but Eden was definitely a new face, as was Ian. His eyes lingered on the flowery Frei's lovely hair before shifting to Cruz's more familiar face. "And... Cruz! How long it has been. My name is Yves, and this is Yuri." He gave Yuri's head a gentle pat, and Yuri let out a big breath and tried to relax.

"That was... scary," Yuri muttered, crossing his arms over his chest. He hovered close to Yves, ears swiveling back toward whatever sounds were nearby. He was tense, and looked ready to wrestle any more birds that tried to come near their small group. "Is that.... normal?" Yves shook his head quickly. Yuri's brow knit and he looked perplexed.

Perfect way for the poor Frei to be introduced to the lab, Yves thought with a groan. Hopefully Yuri wouldn't be forever mistrustful of birds after today.

"Well," Yves began, clapping his hands loosely together. "I do not know this area as well as you, Cruz, so... lead the way? Perhaps Yuri can... sniff out the essences?" He chuckled weakly at his own attempt at lightening the mood. Yuri, not quite catching on, nodded with a serious look on his face. He didn't know what fel essences smelled like, but mission accepted, regardless.

Despite the nature of their situation and mission, Eden still found herself immensely curious about the other two Raevans in their group. Cruz, as he'd introduced himself, was much like Cesc in that he had more of a body than she did, a stomach area with a bit less ribbon. She smiled more genuinely at him and offered a quick, "Nice to meet you," before the other two introduced themselves as well.

Yuri was more like her -- a Frei, as Ian had explained -- but also wholly different. Every Raevan was unique as far as she could tell, which was both comforting and confusing. How were they to solve problems such as strange powers or feeding methods? Luckily nothing that she had discovered about herself so far was very perplexing. Yuri's wings, however, drew her attention immediately. They were bare bone! She'd never seen anything like them before; LuLu's were bone, of course, but they had bat-like leather between the digits. How did Yuri fly?

Unfortunately now was neither the time nor the place for such questions. "That's great. I have a car, so we could save some energy and drive if you want. My back seat fits 3, so maybe the ones without legs should sit back there?" Ian attempted a bit of humor as he gestured over his shoulder toward his midsize sedan. It was a few model years old, but nonetheless reliable and sturdy.

Eventually they had made the short trip to the pier and Ian got out of the car, opening the back door for all the Raevans to pile out. Eden had enjoyed not having to float all the way to the pier, but it had been somewhat cramped in the back despite none of them having legs. She sighed quietly and looked around at the beach and the long, long stretch of boardwalk. Normally she might have really enjoyed the trip and the scenery, especially as the afternoon was dwindling and moving into early evening. But right now, she really just wanted to be at home, away from any birds and loud noises. "So where is it? Is there even an essence here?" She asked, folding her arms over her chest and hovering near Ian as he consulted the makeshift compass that Dr. Kyou had given them. The squawk of a seagull nearby made her jump, moving closer to Ian as she eyed the bird warily. But it was much more interested in a couple of french fries on the ground than their group, thankfully.

"Hopefully. The sooner we can find them, the sooner we can go home and rest." He glanced around with a sigh to match the nymph's. "It's a shame we don't have more than one of these; we could have split up to look more efficiently..."

Cruz also found himself wishing there was more time to get acquainted -- these circumstances weren't good at all for meeting new people and he so terribly wanted to know these two freis -- but at least he got their names, he knew their guardians. Once things were over, maybe he would invite them to lunch at Sand Dollar or to relax at the apartment awhile before making their trips back home.

He didn't mind the cramped trip in the car at all, being close never bothered him in the slightest, but the croc did worry some for Yuri's wings. Cruz opted for the middle seat to avoid bone snagging delicate petal.

"Okay," Cruz hovered closer to Ian and stole a glance at their compass, "maybe whoever goes fastest should have it. It only works when it's pretty close to one, right?" The croc's small wings twitched uselessly -- he was as slow as they came -- and Yuri, he wondered the same as Eden with his lack of any webbing. Humans were pretty fast on their feet but something told Cruz neither Ian nor Yves were particularly athletic and it would be bad to tire them out so early in their search. The floral frei, on the other hand, looked like she might be able to twitter to and fro like a fairy, something quick and sprightly; Cruz gave her a curious smile with his silent question.

From there he turned to face Yuri, smile lingering but more hesitant. "Do you think you really could find them with your nose?" Cruz asked before digging through the bag they were given and retrieving a vial. "I don't know if it'll help but they were all in these before, or might still be, so maybe they smell a little like this?" Cruz held out the vial to the wolfish frei for inspection.

Unfortunately for Yuri, the smell he picked up from the vials and jars will not be traceable. At least around this area anyway. As the empty vials and jars were mixed up when they were distributed. It doesn't matter which vial or jar had what fel essence in it, it only matters that they can contain fel essences.

However, Yuri would be able to smell something peculiar at the pier. A smell that is unexpected, the smell of lavender.

Now that is peculiar, they are on a wooden pier that is without any plants on it, surrounded on three sides by the sea. The only smell that he should be picking up is the smell of the sea breeze. Perhaps it could be a perfume on someone on the pier, but the only people near them are three huge dudes drinking on a bench nearby. They hardly look like the people that wears lavender perfume.

All in all, Yuri had hoped that he would have been able to get to know the other Raevans better. Shyness aside, he wanted to talk to them and get to know others like himself a little more. Not much could be done due to the sudden influx of birds, and things had gone downhill pretty quickly, but maybe there was still time to get to know one another.

Although he was apprehensive to ride in the car - what with such cramped space between the Raevans - Yuri tried to keep himself to his own side, suddenly very aware of his own wings. It was hard to move them at all and he didn't want to poke anyone. The pink Raevan's wings were so small and so were the other one's - his always got in his way when he tried to get dressed or float through a tight space. He spent the car ride silent, envying them.

Once they got to the pier, Yuri had to resist the urge to immediately begin exploring. He loved the outdoors. The smell of the water and the sand around them was so different, and he tried to take it all in with wide eyes. He got so engrossed in staring at his surroundings, he jumped slightly when Cruz held the vial out toward him.

"Huh?" He blinked at it, mouth slightly agape. Yves blinked, too, but his face lit up shortly after.

"I bet he could," he said, raising his hands and balling them into fists. "His nose is really, really good! I lost a tupperware lid at home and he found it for me underneath the refrigerator. Try it, Yuri!"

Feeling emboldened by the encouragement, Yuri leaned over and sniffed at the vial. It didn't smell particularly strange, and when Yuri lifted his head and sniffed the air, he couldn't detect any other traces of the smell. Instead, something else piqued his senses and his ears stuck straight up, eyebrows also rising with them.

"I smell something else," he turned his head and looked around, "Not like the water, but... like flowers." He looked directly at Eden, then floated toward her and leaned forward to also sniff her. "Not like these," he confirmed, suspicion growing on his face as he continued to scan the pier.

"Um, Yuri, what kind of flowers, then?" Yves asked, crossing his arms. He glanced curiously at Eden.

"I don't..." Yuri closed his eyes and tried to remember. With Spring's arrival, he had smelled a plethora of flowers already, but there were a few that stuck out and lingered in his nose for way too long afterward.

"Um, not rose, uh..." Yuri made a face. Finally, he tried, "Lave... lavender? Like the purple one?"

Yves looked back at the group, perplexed. "Lavender? On the beach?" he asked, and shrugged helplessly. "That doesn't... sound right. But Yuri's nose is pretty spot on. Do you think it could mean something, then?"

When Cruz suggested that she might be the best one to carry the compass, however indirectly, Eden's mouth curled into a proud smile. She delicately snatched it out of Ian's hand and hummed softly, turning in circles to see if it would pick anything up. Meanwhile, Ian turned to the others with a soft, defeated sigh. "Oh, good idea!" He smiled encouragingly at Yuri as the wolf Raevan sniffed the vial, but seemed distracted.

"Flowers?" Eden blinked, wondering for a moment if she was accidentally making Yuri's search harder. But after her suspicions were proven false, she still managed to change all of her flowers to scentless poppies just to be safe. Unfortunately she did not feel a particular pull to plants as far as finding them, so she would be of very little help. Her wings fluttered in mild frustration and she sigh, running a hand through her hair. "Well, lavender can grow here but... I don't see any bushes of any kind on the pier." She glanced around but saw only the large men nearby; she shrugged at Cruz with an amused quirk of her lips. "It might be the essence."

Ian chuckled softly. "Well, I suppose we should just continue down the pier, then? Lead the way, you three." He gestured for the three Raevans to move ahead first, figuring he and Yves could trail along behind them.

Eden held out her free hand for Yuri, smiling a little brighter. The prospect of helping find an essence was a bit exciting, even if the task as a whole was rather tedious. "Come on, it's probably this way. Your nose can lead us and the compass can pinpoint it."

With Eden and Yuri at the helm of their tracking, the humans bringing up the rear, and Cruz being their guide to Gambino, the croc managed to feel a little more content. They had roles now, a sense of direction, and weren't just searching blindly.

Well, still a little perhaps.

"It can?" Cruz asked Eden, regarding the lavender. If it wasn't the essence, maybe he would pick some to take home. Though, if it was, he had to wonder what sort of essence it could be. Lavender was a calming herb, if he recalled, so maybe it made someone hyper? He pondered as he followed along close behind Yuri and Eden, of little use for the mean time.

The needle guided the group towards the end of the pier, where it ended with a large octagon platform. A couple was hanging out on one side as they chatted and watched people playing on the beach.

As they approached the area though, the rest of the group began to smell the smell of the lavender as well. However, it was brief as it was suddenly taken over by the smell of baked bread. It was like they just stepped into a bakery as the lovely delicious scent envelops them. Even the couple seemed curious as they looked around, probably thought someone just brought some bread out for lunch or something. But that doesn't seem like the case.

The needle pointed straight forwards though, towards the end of the pier, or maybe was it into the sea?

When Eden had held her hand out for Yuri, he hadn't known what to do with it; and yet, somehow, he felt a little happy by the gesture. It was almost like they were just all hanging out at the beach. Even though the reality was that they were on the hunt for missing fel essences, Yuri's trademark frown had dissolved into a more carefree smile as they searched.

As they continued on, he noticed the smell of lavender growing stronger and stronger. However, more scents seemed to be interfering, too. Before long, the smell of bread - like the kind that Yves made at home, almost - overtook his nose and Yuri made a perplexed face. It wasn't a bad smell at all, it just... made no sense whatsoever.

He glanced at the compass in Eden's hand. It was pointing forward, to the end of the pier. He looked back at Yves and shrugged.

Trailing at the back with Ian, Yves perked up and asked, "What is it? I mean, besides that amazing smell. What does the compass say?" He had been distracted from watching Yuri, enjoying the fact that he seemed to be getting along with the others. Perhaps he just needed a little coaxing to come out of his shell, after all.

"Straight ahead," Yuri responded, and pointed toward the pier's end. His ears fell back, anxiously, and he looked at Cruz and Eden, and then Ian and Yves. "Do we... have to go into the water?"

Eden was only too happy to lead the way, virtually marching along were it not for her lack of any sort of legs. Her wings were flared wide and quivering as she followed the compass. But soon it became apparent that it was determined to bring them straight to the end of the pier. She hovered very near the edge of the wooden planks, frowning softly down at the tossing waves. "Um..?" She glanced back at the others in confusion.

Ian's own brows drew together. "Is it...in the water? Or maybe under the pier?" He glanced between the others.
