Gajeel here, I am looking for pack members, alliances, enemies and a mate. I am usually a wolf of few words until you get to know me. My parents were Verfang but I was raised as a Vileclaw from early adolescence, enough to keep my edge and to have some odd values as well. If you are interested step into my cave and introduce yourself (quote me). I want to live on one of the islands or in the wastes if that helps or hinders you any. Travel will be a bit of a commute but not impossible. Hope you can swim.Tahnee stands on the overhang of Gajeel's cave, taking a long sniff of the air. He shook out his fur roughly with a grumble. He had heard the call of another Alpha. Tahnee was just getting serious about forging a pack - and now it looked like he had competition. Feh..But, perhaps, he didn't have to.There's power in numbers, even among separate packs. Jumping from the overhang, Tahnee stood just outside the entrance of the cave and gave a short bark - tail held tall, but not quite upright. He would respect this other wolf for his rank, but made it clear he was not going to bow to him.

He shouldn't have done this from the cave but it was the easiest place to find him through scent in the territory. His eyes cut through the gloom as he strode forward there was someone here and the bark confirmed it. He wasn't sure what had alerted him, maybe the soft scuff of a paw but it was a relief to have someone come and at the same time a worry. He hated to have his back to the wall.
"Hello there." His deep voice rumbled like velvet over coal. "How may I help you?" Another alpha yes, but respectful from the body language which is all he could hope for.

Noting that he had been blocking the only entrance the other wolf had, Tahnee shuffled about his paws to shift to the side of the entrance, giving the other alpha male space to move. The last thing he wanted was for the potential ally to feel cornered.
Tahnee nodded in greeting. Vileclaw were sparse and few. "I go by the name Tahnee. I heard your recruiting call." Tahnee started simply. "I, too, search for packmates." Well, if that wasn't threatening. "And allies." he added with a strong note in his voice, scratchy from his time in the mountain wastes."I was hoping we could find both together. Vileclaw are sparse in these times..." a forlorn tone entered his voice with this, and he looked on curiously at Gajeel.

"So you want to create a pack together or have separate packs but be allied?" Gajeel tilted his head. He hardly knew this wolf, he himself had no pack and he was not the most trusting creature from the onset, being both rescently converted from Vurfang and already in a suspicious Vilefang mindset. An alpha was nothing without a pack and he yearned for the support. "Lets get to know each other first before we jump into a relationship. You might not even like me."

(( FYI: Am on mostly hiatus since my rib keeps dislocating itself; the computer is not the best thing for me so if I'm gruelingly slow on replies please forgive me.)) "Separate, allied packs." came the short reply. He had noticed the other wolf a bit on edge, so threw in a statement to express their shared situation, "Though it seems our alliance would consist of only the two of us for the moment." Right down to business. Tahnee's chest puffed out respectfully, as though to commend the other Alpha on his demeanor. Straight to business was something he could respect.
Tahnee knew a pack was what he really needed. He really wasn't pleased with this other Alpha's presence posing a threat to his candidate pool. But that didn't mean he couldn't be pleasant. After all, if the Vileclaw were to ever claim the Heart for their own, in-fighting certainly wouldn't do.
Tahnee's ears perked up in surprise, his head tilting involuntarily, from the other Alpha's words; it hadn't been like he had been asking for courtship. But he supposed the black wolf had a point. "That may be so, Stranger. Gajeel, was it?" he stated simply. "Though whatever the case turns out to be, I would rather prefer not to be enemies." he said cautiously, his voice drawn as he sized up the other Alpha. His words were true; but he would be a fool not to meet suspicion in kind in these times. He'd like to have believed the other Alpha's intentions - but could not yet be sure. Perhaps it was a good idea indeed that they get to know one another.
"What might you suggest?" Tahnee's voice was inquisitive. He'd had no idea how Alphas bonded outside of a pack structure; as such was all he'd ever known. His parents had led a reclusive pack. And of course, he knew where that had got them...Food for the crows, that's what. Tahnee knew all too well that a pack was not always enough in this world - but had no idea how to pursue it. He had hoped this Vileclaw had some brighter ideas than he; hanging out at the watering hole didn't exactly suit his less-than talkative nature.

"Before you give me that look again," Gajeel said wryly, "I consider an alliance or a friendship even to be a relationship, not only the moon calling, pup producing kind." He smirked. "The best way to build a bond, my mother told me, is to do exactly what we are doing now, and talk it out, learn enough about the other, that you are comfortable with mind you, that we can decide what to do about our situation. This male seemed an alright enough fellow, and in the end he was relieving the chronic boredom that Gejeel was afflicted with no matter which way this discussion would lead. "If the talking goes well, I suggest perhaps we go on a hunt alone, its hard to take down big game alone, as I'm sure you have found, and I would welcome the taste of something besides rabbit..I don't know about you?" He tilted his head at the other respectfully, he rather hoped they would get venison at least out of this, with two wolves buffalo and moose would likely still be beyond them, but a small deer was a real possibility and he was always hungry.

A short, barked laugh erupted from the tawny male with the look Gajeel had just given him. He let the sound continue for just a moment. "Yes, of course. You are absolutely right. You must forgive me; I wasn't exactly raised around sociability." He wasn't sure what it was about this other Alpha that made him want to open up and expose his largest short-coming. Perhaps he longed for it. He didn't entertain the investigation long. At Gajeel's suggestion, Tahnee chuckled, "Well, either this will be great practice to hone those sociable skills, or I'm in a spot of trouble..." he grinned, just a touch sheepishly.
"What I hope to gain short-term is a partner to search for pack-mates. Someone to perhaps confer with regarding the options available, and their qualifications. And to do the same for the other." He explained."Though I didn't exactly expect to share my life's story..." he added, an uncomfortable note in his voice.
"Gosh, rabbits. I'd rather chew on rocks." Tahnee sneered. There was one thing Tahnee did know; a hunt needed to be collaborated. Even the skills of two Alpha's together meant nothing if they weren't coordinated; in fact, that could end more dangerously than a solo hunt. "That should prove a true test of how well we know one another." he stated thoughtfully. There were risks, yes, but...his stomach growled at him. He growled back.
He chose to return to his previous thought about goals. "Long-term, once our packs are established, I hope that our bond will be strong enough to bring our packs together should any threats arise from neighboring territories." Now that he realized how important the bond was, Tahnee could fully embrace the idea. "What say you?"

Now that he realized how important the bond was, Tahnee could fully embrace the idea. "What say you?"
"Could have fooled me, you seem quite aociable compared to what I am used too. I think it astoundingly odd to find another lone alpha out here. I thiught I was the only one misfortunate enough not to have the full support of a strong pack. It seems I was wrong. I do welcome the chance to explore our options together and compare notes...if we ever find others who will put up with us." He grinned and wagged the tip of his tail showing some of the wokf beneath the social walls he had supported for so long. He could have fun if he tried. "I think its a bit overwhelming to start from scratch like we are. Not even a free delta around so far to bait. And to that end if we had to catch them usuing food..would we really want them in the end?" He tilted his head a fraction, loosening up in the calm presence of this other male. They could so totally pull of sociable. At the very least they had to practice before pack life set in. "I'd be grateful at this point for a grizzled gamma for advice..even a pup or two.. someone to look after I feel like a waste of fur. Speaking of fur and more importantly the food under it, hows about we come up with a hunting plan so we can discuss our other plans at leisure hmmm?" He waggled his eyebrows as the other growled at his own stomach.
