This was so unlike him, Esrael had actually invited Burvia to get lunch with him. There were some things that he needed to talk to her about. Mainly the fact that Joseth had just asked him to be his boyfriend and knowing how close Burvia was to the litch he figured it was best to tell her in person. How was he even going to start this conversation? Oh hey, Burvia, you know that boy that you've obviously liked for a long time? Yeah we're dating now. Yeah...that wasn't going to work. Still, he had to talk to her and tell her about it.
As he waited for Burvia to show up The fallen sat there, staring at the clock, growing more and more anxious as every second ticked by. He really hopped this would turn out okay...

Burvia felt a little nervous. There was an undeniable pit in her stomach. Esrael had said they needed to talk. Usually this was a bad thing in a relationship but the two weren't dating. It left Burvia perplexed. What should she expect from Rae? He had grown to be so hot and cold with her, and while she loved him dearly she was starting to feel it wearing on her.
Maybe this talk would finally address that. Maybe after all this time she'd finally get some answers to the questions she'd been asking herself for quite some time.
Where was this going? What did she mean to him? And how could they fit all three of them in to the same picture?
Burvia took a deep breath, trying to regain her resolve as she stepped out in to their meeting place, holding her head high, the smile on her face betraying the sick feeling in her gut.
"Good morning, sweet Rae!" Burvia called out as she approached. "I am so sorry for keeping you waiting!"

He had been staring at the clock for so long that when he heard Burvia call out it startled him. As he watched her approach, with a big smile on her face, he started to feel sick to his stomach. He didn't want to hurt her. Actually. That was the absolute last thing he wanted to do. Through the years he became more fond of her company and Esrael considered her his best friend. "G-Good Morning, Burv. Here, let me get that for you," he stood up and pulled out a chair for her before sitting back down across from her.
Okay. How was he going to do this. "Listen Burv...something recently just happened and I figured I'd tell you about it in person." He took a deep breath, "Joseth just asked me to be his boyfriend. T-Truth be told I was really shocked when he asked me, I thought for sure he was going to tell me that I was getting in the way of the two of you..." He paused for a second, trying to avoid eye contact. "I always felt like you two were so close and that eventually I'd be pushed out, you know? Please don't be upset, Burv." Having heart to heart conversations definitely was not his strong suit, especially because whenever he got too flustered he felt like crying.

At first, Burvia could only blink. So, the two finally stopped dancing around the issue and finally addressed their feelings, did they? And fascinating that Joseth had been the one to approach Esrael about it. Though, if she had to be fair, the Joseth that Burvia knew was vastly different than the Jo that Rae knew. Burvia was okay with that. She believed that was why friendships and romances developed. Someone out there appealed to or stimulated different faucets of yourself. With there being so many people in the big, vast world, how could Burvia ever be monoromantic?
She had her boys. She knew that the two needed to explore their relationship before she could ever be a part of it ... she had hoped that it would happen during their Senior years, but. It seemed as though the boys were fast tracking their relationships.
Fascinating.
Burvia gave a soft, little giggle, tossing her curly midnight blue hair over her shoulder with a little flick of her hand, as if a sign the geist was getting down to business.
"Oh, Rae." She started sweetly. "I knew you and Joseth would end up together. It was just a matter of when and who would ask. I saw it a mile away."
Her smile faltered slightly, and for once, Burvia let the mask drop. "It's funny to hear you say that you thought the two of us were so close. I think ... I'm a little much for him. I think I confuse him and ... 'overpower' him personality-wise? He's such a gentle child. But you can speak his language. You react around me like he reacts to me. Shy, timid, unsure. I know I'm quite the personality. I know that I'm a little intimidating and that I have my things seemingly figured out. I know what I want to do with my life. I know where I want to go from here ... and for a lot of people, that's scary. For the people who don't know, or don't want to think about their futures yet. And worst of all, I'm entirely bent towards those endeavors. Nearly all my free time is spent crafting and sewing and trying to hone my skills so I can get grants and scholarships and try to win as many contests and get my clothing out there so that my NAME is out there. It's very time consuming, and difficult. It soaks up a lot of my social time with friends ... and while I know it's not intentional, or either of your guys' faults, I've felt ... " she took in a slow, deep breath before finishing her sentence, trying to hold back the more raw emotions. "Left behind? Left out. Your relationship with Joseth has been so ... accelerated. I could see from Freshling years that you two would end up together."
Burvia stopped. taking a moment to suck on her lower lip as her eyes watered a little, but no tears feel, her voice losing that charming buoyancy it always had. "I ... I knew I would have to really work to garner your affections. For me with you two, it wasn't no so easy. I don't speak the same language as you two. I'm so ... selfish and self-driven in comparison. I rarely have the time for relationships as it is. As much as I saw this coming from day one, I also hoped ... some day down the road, I'd be standing right there with you guys. I don't expect it to be today, or tomorrow ... I'd be lucky if it'd be in a few years with how confused Joseth is about me. I can tell he likes me, but I can also tell that he's not sure what it all means for him. I know, for him at least, I'll have to wait for some time still. With you ... " she drifted off them, her glossy blue lips parting subtly as Burvia lifted her gaze to stare up at her friend, her pale yellow eyes a slightly rosey hue, and her eyes looking like glass. " ... I felt. Like ... maybe we were finally going somewhere .... MORE. Or ... did I misread the signs ... ?"

His mind was reeling. Burvia knew that they were going to be together? As a freshling? How...? Esrael was sure that Jo was going to be with Burvia. At least she wasn't upset about that part. Everything else though...the torrent of emotions overpowering him was making it hard to think. This was the first time in years that Rae had seen Burvia falter like she had. His initial reaction was to immediately be by her side, but he let her talk. It seemed like there were things she just needed to get off her chest. He sat there, listening to her, watching her, trying not let himself get emotional as she spoke. When she finished he summoned all the courage he had inside himself.
Taking a deep breath first, willing himself to be strong for her. "Oh Burv...you don't overpower him. Jo really cares about you. I mean, really cares about you. There's no way that you'd ever scare him off...or me for that matter. Burvia," he reached across the table and tucked her hair behind her ear, "I'm so jealous that you're so passionate about something. You know what you want to do in life and that's amazing! You're such a strong, girl and if anything it's not your passion that intimidates us, it's the fact that you're still young but you have so many plans and goals for yourself. Neither of us want to disrupt that, yes we miss you when we don't see you, but we're not going to be the ones that get in between you and your goals. We would never leave you behind. I promise." He paused for a moment, trying to steel himself before continuing. It was hard, he could tell that she was holding back tears and that was something Esrael never thought he'd see. He began to get a little choked up, a lump slowly forming in his throat.
"It doesn't matter what language you speak. Language isn't everything, Burv. You convey enough just through your actions alone. I can see that, I know Jo can too." The rest of what she had said confused him, what exactly did she mean by that...?He didn't just want to ask her as she was obviously upset about it. "Burv...I don't really know what you mean. What sign--" it hit him and it hit him hard. She actually liked him too? Was that even possible? Could someone really love more than one person? Well...to be fair over the years he had begun to develop a crush on her, but that's all he thought it was, a harmless little crush. "O-Oh Burvia...I'm so sorry that I've been so stupid...I never realized that you had feelings for me. I always figured you only had eyes for Jo...I didn't mean to lead you on or anything. I-I feel terrible." What was he supposed to say to her now? Sure she was his best friend and sure she was incredibly attractive, but he had never even thought that the two of him would be more than friends. "You know you're very important to me, right? I-I think y-you're really cute and you're always fun to be around. Maybe we can try to spend some more time together before we talk about...."us"?" Ugh. He felt like the worst person in all of below for saying that to her.

Burvia remained silent. She had said what she needed to say, and Esrael seemed to understand what she meant, even if it took a bit for it to click in place for him.
This seemed to be the story of her life. No matter how hard she worked at a relationship, she still found herself somehow at arm's length. Whether it be with Jo, or Esrael, there needed to be more "time" before "us". Was she the only one that could see there already was an "all of us"?
She didn't say anything, her soft, large eyes simply staring up at him as she blinked wetly. She was crying now, without shuddering breath or shaking body. Burvia was crying silently.
Giving a small shake of her head, Burvia glanced away. "I understand." was all she said as she slowly rose to her feet, smoothing out her full skirt. "Was that all, Esrael?"

No, no, no, no! This was exactly what he didn't want to happen. He didn't know how to fix it though. He had spent a decent amount of one on one time with Jo before the event that lead to them getting together. He still felt like he barely knew Burvia. Well, he knew her, but not on the personal level that he knew Jo. It wasn't a bad thing that he said that right? He hadn't outright said no to her.
Immediately Esrael jumped out of his seat. He couldn't bare to see her like this. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, his wings spreading out and covering her in a protective manner. "Burvia, please, don't be sad. Let's go on a date, does tomorrow night work for you? We can go to that new indoor skating rink or we can go to that restaurant you really like. Just please, don't be sad. I want to get to know you better, Burvia."

Burvia's heart nearly burst out of her chest at his touch. The sudden thumping against her chest cavity made her feel weak in the knees and lightheaded, and to make the warm sensation spreading over her all the more intense, Esrael folded his wings over her. She could feel how hard or how fast her heart was slamming inside her chest, and she could hear her own fast breathing.
"R-Rae ... " her tendrils flickered as fast as her heart, Burvia slowly sliding her arms around his, hugging him back and leaning slightly back against him. This ... was nice. She liked this. But still. "How ... how much more can you know me? What more is there to see? Esrael, we have no families. We were all orphans and raised by the Academy, and you two are all that I have known, all I have ventured to love beyond my projects ... what else is there to know of me?" Burvia gave her head a small shake. Esrael was trying. The geist couldn't just shut down on him like this. This wasn't the time for trying to spare her hurt feelings. She could lose it all if she turned away now.
"I'm sorry, Esrael. I didn't mean to ... " she didn't finish her sentence as she let go of his arms, twisting around in his embrace and glanced up at him. Oh! Was Rae getting taller ... ?
"I ... would like that. Very much. If ... if you'll have me, that is?"

He glanced down at her before resting his cheek on her forehead. "No, don't be sorry. It's little things I want to know, Burv. I want to know why your favorite color is your favorite. I want to know what places you're a little ticklish," He playfully tickled her sides. "I want to know more about what makes Burvia Burvia. That's all." He pulled away from her slightly and kissed her forehead. "I'd be more than happy to, Burv." He slowly unwound himself from her, gently brushing his fingers against the her hand. This was good. For a long time now he really didn't know what would bring them closer, who would have known that this whole time they both had felt like the third wheel. Well that and maybe if he hadn't have been so oblivious he would have seen that she had feelings for him. Whatever the reason, Rae was happy with how their talk turned out.

Burvia's smile slowly returned. The little things seemed so unimportant, but perhaps that line of thinking was exactly why she found herself floundering so much in her relationships.
She giggled lightly at Rae's light touches on her side, and found herself wiggling subtly to try and get away from his fingers. "Hee, I'm not really that ticklish, except for on my calves and thighs." she admitted in a hushed tone. "As for favourite colour ... isn't that obvious~? It's blue of course. Less obviously, I also really like red, but it doesn't look particularly good on me. Not BAD, but also not good." a small blush raised on her cheeks as Esrael lightly grazed his fingers against her hand, making her dissolve in to a bit of a giggle again.
"Alright, it's a date then, Rae ... "
