Incanthis moved through the house that was, presently, completely quiet, making his way down the hall to where Abie would be located at the moment. He was probably sleeping and if his nightmare wasn't as bad as it was he wouldn't be bothering him. He felt a little bad going to bother him but he couldn't quite stop shaking at the moment and the old brand on his shoulder felt as though it were on fire. Maybe... maybe he could just take Junior and go back to his room with him? It wasn't nearly the same as curling up with his friend but it would be something, right? He'd just have to see when he got to Abie's room he supposed.
He gave a glance back and forth down the hallway, as though expecting any of the specters that haunted him to be waiting there, but he was alone, even if those specters still haunted his mind. Giving another shiver he slipped into Abie's room, walking forward as quietly as he could. The first thing he did was to moved over to where snaptrotters were sleeping, giving them a once over to make sure that they were all present and accounted for, as well as sleeping comfortably. Junior seemed to be under two of his other siblings meaning that he aught to leave him be. Were he to try to take him now he'd just disturb the whole clutch and get them to chirping which would likely wake up Abie anyway.
Walking away from their bed he then moved to the one Abie was staying in, sitting down on the edge of it, and did little more. He didn't want to bother his friend so maybe just sitting near to him and taking in some calming breaths would help? At least he sure hoped so he thought to himself as he rested his clasped hands in his lap, his eyes closing.

Abie wasn't in a deep sleep, actually he slept lighter than his twin. So when he heard the door open his body tensed. Then he heard it...the slight wave of a braid. The scent of moon flowers mixed with vanilla. The water male relaxed...it was only Incanthis. Then he opened his eyes out of slight shock...wait. What was Incanthis doing here? Shifting as if he was still sleeping he watched in the dark as the slender male looked over the clutch. Perhaps looking for Junior...then left them alone. Abie knew that Junior had been buried under two siblings as Laqui was one of them. He watches the other for a few moments. Something was off...perhaps a nightmare. Sitting up he rubbed at one eye before muttering. "Its warmer in here...or were you in need of talking first?" He shifted to fully sit with the blankets pooled around his waist. There was no body paint decorating his skin, nothing covering his eyes. The male knew the black ink was permanent and that was fine. He slipped out of the bed to light the lamp nearby, sitting back down to lean against his headboard. His hair was flattened a little from sleep. The single braid on one side was still there. He nudged Incanthis with a leg, a odd sort of comfort from him. "What's wrong?"

Incanthis gave a slight jump, turning to glance at Abie, then gave a soft sigh, "I apologize... I didn't want to wake you up I just wanted... I don't know, to be near to someone for a while." He murmured, feeling a little bad for having disturbed Abie's sleep. Maybe he should have sat down on the floor so as not to shake the bed? He also could have sat down near to where the clutch was sleeping as well, though it would have been worse if he'd disturbed the lot of them since they could make quite the racket if they got excited over something. He supposed that either way he might have ended up waking up Abie, something he felt guilty over since he really did need his sleep given all the little ones that were in his care. "Ahh... sorry... my mind wandered." He admitted, then lifted a hand to clutch his shoulder for a moment where his brand lay, "It was... a bad dream. I should be used to them since he's haunted my dreams since I was a child." At the time that Issao was alive Incanthis had to deal with the man berating him during his waking hours and in his dreams, and even now after the man's passing he was still dealing with him. Not just him either, there were others that haunted his sleep these days as well, all Obans, though he wasn't quite certain which one was worse. Shifting so that he could better face his friend he lifted a hand, soothing it through Abie's sleep mussed hair, "You can go back to sleep, I know you have a busy day ahead of you where the babies are concerned."

Nightmares were the worst. Abie sat there allowing the other a few heartbeats of silence before reaching out. One long strong arm encircled the Shifter's slender shoulders before pulling Incanthis flush against his chest. Sitting there with the Shifter's back leaning into his chest, he could feel the brand. There was some warmth to the thing. Abie looking down at it with a glare before running his other hand over it. Since his hands were usually cold he figured this could soothe the other in some way right? Well, that was the hope at least. "Your not a bother, Incan. Your a welcomed presence. Sleep here. I'll protect you." He muttered the last three words into the back of Incanthis' other shoulder. He stayed there. "Their like hunters after you...aren't they? You feel like a child running from the darkness...you stumble and no one's there to pick you up. No one's there to pull you out...." he spoke from a nightmare he had last week. Only he didn't have the guts to get up to drag someone back into his bed to chase it away. He just didn't sleep... For that whole week.

Incanthis gave a little jolt as his friend wrapped an arm around him, pulling him backwards. He remained stock still for a moment before he started to slowly relax. It took him a moment to do so but he was finally able to lean into Abie, a soft sigh escaping from his lips... a sigh that ended in a bit of a gasp of surprise as Abie laid a cool hand over the brand on his shoulder, "It... always hurts, as though it's newly placed, whenever such dreams assault me..." He murmured, Abie's cold hand did help though as far as soothing away the pain went. A temporary buffer, hopefully one that would work until he was able to win out over the grasp his dreams held over him. Turning his head slightly he gave a bit of a smile, "You really are sweet, Abie." He murmured when the younger male told Incanthis that he'd protect him. He really had been doing his best to do just that, hadn't he? Even if it was just allowing him to stay near to him it meant a lot to Incanthis. Better that he stayed in this place instead of being forced to wander around on his own after parting with his last master. He wasn't sure what he'd of done without the twins and their patrons to be honest. As the other started to speak again, about Incanthis's dreams, and what Incanthis would guess were Abie's dreams as well, he gave a slow nod, "The only solace I have is that when I wake up at least the figures from the nightmares won't be hovering over me, barking insults and orders even in the waking world. Still... I feel as though if I turn around they will be right there, wanting to drag me back to..." He trailed off, shaking his head. He ddn't want to think about it, instead lifting a hand to hold onto Abie's hand where it still lay on his shoulder. As close as the Matori was he was likely to be able to feel and hear Incanthis's heart racing even as he tried to get his fear under control. Those people, they were gone now, he didn't have to worry about them... well, at least not while he was awake that was.

Abie smiled into the shoulder. He liked this, sitting there with the other. Talking. Well, the current topic could use a change but that was of little concern to him. It was the fact that he felt he was helping the other that mattered to him. To many times he felt that he was more of a burden than a salvation. Right now, he felt useful. Like...Incanthis didn't mind he existed. He shifted so that he was looking at the small clutch. The infants were fast asleep..every last---he blinked as a pair of large golden eyes blinked at him. Laqui. How is it the smallest of the infants seemed to be such a strong little thing? Laqui didn't chirp, didn't make a single sound. Just watched them. Abie hummed. "I'm not sweet, Incan. I just...your someone I don't want to see cry. You remind me of myself. I couldn't protect myself as a kid, but I can protect you." He pressed a light kiss to the shoulder. "I give you my word."

"Well... you're at least sweet to me." He said, something that he was eternally grateful for, in ways that Abie couldn't understand. Well, maybe he could, the both of them had seemed to lead rough lives, jerked around by the Obans, though even after all of it Incanthis couldn't hate them all. Sure, he feared them to a degree, but he didn't hate them all... just a handful of them. He couldn't find it in him to hate an entire group of people just because a few of them had wronged him... especially when a few had stuck their necks out for him to make sure that he got away from his previous master. Giving a bit of a smile he said, "Thank you, Abie." Incanthis knew that feeling, how one regretted what they couldn't do as a child. Not that they should feel guilty over it, it wasn't their fault, children weren't exactly powerful after all. Still... he couldn't help but think back himself and wish that he'd been stronger, that he could have somehow stood up to his father. As though such a thing were possible, just hearing the man's name could still strike fear into Incanthis's heart after all. Not something that he wanted to think about though. If he let his mind wander too far down that path he'd find himself buried in thoughts of the past. The kiss to his shoulder was enough to jolt him out of his thoughts, causing him to glance at Abie with wide eyes, before giving a nod of his head, "Thank you, very much." He murmured, leaning back into his friend a little more. While he still felt a little guilty about waking him up this was what he needed it seemed, close contact that wasn't in any way frightening or violent, that allowed him to relax and recover.

Abie sat there, Incanthis in his arms. Warm. Content. He watched Laqui dart back into the nest. Quirking an eyebrow as he heard soft sounds. The next thing he saw was Laqui pop back up with Junior at his side. The two scrambled out...then up into the bed. He chuckled as he leaned around Incanthis to tickle them. "It seems our little ones sensed unease." He said the words without thinking. The phrase easily slipping off his tongue. He gently stroked the two infants till they rolled over for belly rubs. Abie chuckled.

Incanthis turned as he heard a familiar scratching sound, that of the snaptrotters escaping from their bed. He almost expected the entire lot of them to arrived but instead it appeared as though it were just two very familiar ones instead, Laqui and Junior. Likely a good thing since the entire nest of them would have easily taken over the bed not leaving much room for Abie and himself. Reaching a hand out he set to scratching Junior under the chin lightly, then did the same for Laqui. He hadn't wanted to worry the pair of them, but it seemed as though he had. Hopefully some belly scratches would get them lulled back to sleep. They were just babies after all and they needed their rest. "Alright you two, try to get back to sleep." He murmured to the pair, knowing that the whole lot of them would be running around like crazy in the morning and he didn't want the pair to fall behind because they'd been up all night. Turning to look at Abie he said, "You should probably get some more sleep as well. I know that the clutch keeps you busy, especially come feeding time." Poor Abie would be over run for sure if he was over tired during feeding time, not something that he wanted to see happen. He wondered if maybe he aught to offer Abie some help? After a moment he said, "I don't know nearly as much as you do about the little whelps but if you need any help I'm here. Especially since I am the one that disturbed your rest." Best that he at least offered some help even though he wasn't quite sure what he was doing when it came to more then one of the little ones. He played with Junior a lot, sure, but as many as Abie had... that was a little above him. Still, he'd at least try to help out if he could.

Abie chuckled as the two infants curled around their hands and nuzzled. The more larger of the two, Junior yawned. A small click as the tiny jaws closed. Curling into Incanthis' stomach the green infant slipped back into slumber. Laqui soon after a few more nuzzles joined his siblings. Easily slipping under and falling asleep. The water male pulled Incanthis back with him as he laid on his back. Keeping the smaller male in his arms he shifted till they were comfortable. The infants shifting only a little to allow the earthlings comfort. Abie looked at Incanthis. "My invitation stands. When I leave...I want you to seriously think about coming with me. I don't want you to remain where you feel...weak. Aqio...I already talked to him. He says he might stay here. Learn more before he seeks me out again. He wants to get stronger on his own." He smiled at the other. "The whelps adore you."

Incanthis gave a slow nod, "I... really should go back... there is a lot there that I am curious about. I am also kind of... afraid. There is also a lot that I would need to face were I go return there." He admitted quietly. The idea of having to face some of the dangers, not to mention a lot of his past that he didn't want to think about. Still, it would be better then staying in Oba were he was haunted by even darker things. He wondered if he should just end up settling down permanently in a place that was neither Jauhar or Oba? That left quite a few places, though which one he might actually want to live in became the question. "Ah... Aqio wants to stay behind?" He asked, a bit surprised by that. The idea of the twins splitting up, it seemed rather sad to him. Wouldn't they be lonely? He knew that he was lonely without his brothers, especially with his fears of them hating him for all he'd done in his life time, "So long as you told him that he's always welcome to join us." Something Incanthis would tell him as well when he next saw Aqio. "Huh? Oh... well... I was always good with little ones. Not something that exactly impressed my father any, but it made me happy to take care of them."

Abie hummed as he cuddled the other. He liked this. Comforting Incanthis was something he could get used to. Though he would ask himself later why exactly he wanted the other so close all the time. Right now it was to help chase away their shared nightmares. He recalled Incanthis' own sibling issues and made a small noise at the back of his throat. "I'll stick with you. Trust me Incanthis. I won't leave you." Those were more than simple words to the youth. Incanthis had become something of a fixation for the water male. Sure he knew plenty of other former slaves, but none like the Shifter in front of him. He smiled. "Aqio knows even if I didn't already tell him. Just like I know wherever he ends up I'll have a second home waiting..."

"Thank you, Abie. Your support might be one of those things that I will need in the future." He felt a little bad leaning on someone younger then he was for support but at the same time it was a good thing. He couldn't survive forever alone, he knew that, so instead he'd need to work hard for what the future might hold for him. Of course, before any of that he'd need to break free of the shackles of the past. The first step really was the hardest one, wasn't it? Still, where as he once felt as though he were stuck and unable to move forward Abie and many others helped him to get free of that 'stuck' feeling. Giving a smile he shifted himself so that he could wrap an arm around Abie, his hand stroking the boy's fluffy hair in a soothing manner, "This is... nice. Very relaxing to be able to lay down like this with someone and actually be able to just... talk." As well as sort of cuddle with him and whelps, feeling a bit as though the two of them were a part of the snaptrotter's group. "Heh, he is good guy too. It must run in your family." So long as the two of them were alright with going their separate ways but meeting up with one another later then he supposed it should be alright.

Abie laid there. His mind whirling...he knows he should go back to bed. He had calmed down the other male enough to ensure that. But...something was nagging him. He let out this small huff as if irratated with himself over this. Finally he bit the leather and spoke. His voice low... "Neh...Incan...what was it like...to have a mother?" he asked looking at a spot on the wall. "I remember you said that you took after her with your chosen path...I'm...curious. I don't remember my parents. Just...sensations. A feeling of protection...one of warmth. Is that bad?"

Incanthis seemed to fall quiet for a moment, giving a soft sighing sound, before he said, "My mother... she was wonderful, not to mention strong. Given have our father was she had to be strong..." He murmured, his eyes closing for a moment so that he could picture her in his mind, "It was a difficult thing, to follow after her... I wanted to do what she did, to help others, while my father wanted all of his children to be warriors. It just wasn't something I could do myself though I worry for my brothers. They might even now be following his words." "I wish that you could have met her." He wished very much that she was still around... if she were then he'd have gone home the moment that he'd been able to. Even if his brothers were angry at him for what he'd done he knew that his mother would have welcomed him home. How he'd of loved that... but even if that weren't the case at least he had Abie to get hugs from? Not that he wanted to admit how much he was enjoying the snuggles he was getting at the moment, "If you don't mind me asking... what happened to your family?"
