Name: Lenila (Len) Stage: Prentice Race: Yaeli Gender: Female Base Traits: Skittish, Clever, Liar Personality: Simple GOOD intelligent, intuitive, curious dreamer, optimistic, adaptable charismatic, flexible, quick-thinking innovative, imaginative, whimsical
NUETRAL guarded, introspective, extroverted absentminded, noncommittal uninhibited, impulsive, skittish
BAD abrupt, dishonest/lying, manipulative self-serving, childish, compulsive cowardly, disloyal, fickle forgetful, graceless, messy prudish, impatient
Detailed
Len is quick—whether it be thinking, talking, or acting, she rarely takes her time about it, which can be either to her benefit or detriment, depending on the situation. Her intuition at leasts softens the danger in this regard: her first instinct is often a good one—but far from always. Her quick-talking nature, imagination, and tendency towards whimsy all aid in making her charismatic, and a creative and convincing storyteller, to a fault.
Len is a habitual liar. She lies easily, in detail, often, and because of easy flow of her lies, they tend to be believable, until a person begins to spend more time with her and starts to see that they don’t all add up. Quite the opposite, even if she knows she has told a person one thing before, she may change the story entirely next time they ask, particularly if it’s a personal question. This is one of the ways she draws lines between ‘close enough’ and ‘too close’, keeping even her friends at a certain distance and preventing anyone from knowing more about her than she’s comfortable with. She also finds it fun, and more entertaining for herself to see what others will believe.
Because reality is altogether unimpressive and unpleasant (in Len’s opinion, which furthers her tendency towards lying and whimsy), Len spends a lot of time imagining what could be, as opposed to what is. She dreams up new realities for herself, builds up stories, and plays pretend on a frequent basis, even going into her later teens towards adulthood. It is simply easier and far more pleasant to dream than to cope with the dirty, mundane truth of the day to day. In this way and because of it, Len can often come off as childish, absent-minded, and forgetful, impractical, and noncommited, because her attention is flitting from one non-reality to the next.
Additionally, despite enjoying being around people generally speaking — she needs someone to spin her stories to and keep her entertained — Len is egregiously slow to trust. This may be due in part to the fact that she herself is untrustworthy, and therefore finds it difficult to believe anything anyone else says, but is also backed up by the harshness of personal experience, given that her life circumstances have tended towards revealing the worst in people. In this vein, Len, particularly when she matures physically into a young woman as opposed to a spindly girl, can come off as ‘prudish’, happy to talk but shying away from touch, and skittish when it comes to anything more than casual interaction.
Description: Very pale beige-olive skin tone, though the grime usually on it can give the illusion of it being darker or more tan. Dark purple hair. Boyish, spindly body type. Round, ‘heart shaped’ face; small, narrow nose; squared off oval eyes; long eyebrows; thin lips. Clothing: Raised in an orphanage and later moving to the streets, Len dresses the part of the lowest of the low class: rags, dirty clothing, whatever she can find to cover herself. She also ‘cross dresses’, making her best efforts to use the clothes she has to pass herself off as male. Fortunately, given her body type, this usually works out for her. Accessories: N/A.

"Quote." | History and Early Life |
Len is the daughter of a prostitute. Her mother, Enith, became heavy with her midway through her career at a successful brothel in the heart of Yael’s capitol city, Pajore. If she knew the identity of the father, she never mentioned him and openly dissuaded questions about him when asked. Instead, immediately after Len’s birth, she arranged for her daughter’s residence at a local orphanage, and it was there that Len spent her formative years, looked after primarily by the house mother there and raised alongside a handful of fellow orphans, the exact identities of which changed as some were adopted, grew up, ran away, or were taken in, in turns. Enith, a healthy and practical woman at that stage in her life, did pay her daughter occasional visits so that as she grew, Len was at least aware of her mother’s identity and location. They never formed a close bond, however, as Enith’s eye on her was distant and she never reached out, ever aware that at any point, she might be adopted away. Len never was. It wasn’t that Len was an especially ugly, disobedient, or otherwise distasteful child. Quite the opposite, though she was not remarkable in her appearance, she was boisterous, talkative, and friendly. Unfortunately — at least for the house mother and any who might have wanted to adopt her — Len had no interest in actually being adopted. She wanted to be wanted, wanted to be picked, would engage with prospective couples and weave her childhood charm as best she could—but when it came time to being taken anywhere, she would be nowhere to be found, turn up missing for days, or on the flip side, allow herself to be taken, briefly, and then run away days or weeks later and stay away until the intended parent or couple would finally give up. Len would deny wholeheartedly that this had anything to do with her knowing the whereabouts of her actual mother, and whether that is true or not would be hard to discern. She would say that her mother is boring. Dull. Distant. While it certainly is true that Len spent a great deal of time re-imagining her mother in her childhood, the nature of her imaginings might suggest there was at least a want for attachment there. Some of her favorites include that her mother was only undercover in her current profession, secretly a spy for the sanctum, or the upper crust, or even far away islanders — the details vary. Other days, her mother was a prisoner in her work, but plotting her way out, and she only distanced herself from Len in order to keep her safe, and one day, when her plans were fully hatched, they would run away and start a new life together. Still other times, Len would imagine that gradually, her mother was building a passionate, but deep relationship with a secret lover beyond the scope of her employment, and that when the time was right, all of them would break away and be a family. In reality, Len speaks rarely with her mother, and the older she gets, the deeper that wedge drives itself, but never has the woman completely ceased to be a part of her life, so far.
