The door to the apartment slammed tight. It wasn't often that Aten was in a rush, but when he was, boy could that imp move.

Osiris gave a shrug of his broad shoulders and kicked off his boots, leaving them right in the middle of the front door. The hybrid had no idea how long Aten would be, or when little Rhys might arrive home, but he was told to make himself comfortable and that was what Osiris intended to do.

Padding his way in to the kitchen, Osiris got his glass of wine that Aten had poured for the two of them just before he whisked himself away to go buy the rest of the dinner ingredients he needed in order to feed his family. The two were normally like a couple of moms, gossiping over a glass of red wine while the kids ran about and played, but this time around Osiris was kid free, and he had planned to spend the day just hanging out with his mate one on one for a little while. But the poor tiger boy must have been running himself ragged. It wasn't like him to be so discombobulated. Osiris was a touch glad he had come over to distract the poor dear from his worries, but at the same time, he couldn't help but feel he was a part of the problem.

Taking his merlot, Osiris made his way in to the living room, swirling the dark liquid around in his tall glass before sipping it as he made himself comfortable on the couch, lounging a touch like someone expecting someone to walk in any moment that he had intended to seduce, glass raised in one hand to keep from spilling. In truth, this was just how he preferred to lounge, as 'sexy' as some others might perceive it, he just did it because it was comfortable for him.

Osiris watched the clock, listening as the little hand ticked by second by second ... surely someone would arrive soon.

It had been a long day having had to bust out a few essays on the spot for her classes, but Cassie had grown slightly used to the drag of school. Basically the fact it was not the Academy kept her going for even her perpetual love of knowledge couldn't always push her over the slump of school. At least today she had managed to leave early for nothing was on her plate to be due within the next few days, and while she usually took this as a spot of time to herself that was otherwise usually impossible to find, Cassie instead brought herself home. Cuddles, food, and a good book sounded wonderful, and she wondered if maybe she wouldn't be able to talk Rhys into a story with her. She enjoyed reading out loud when she could, but he wasn't always the most stationary of kids.

With a single motion she pushed the door to their home open and nearly immediately she stopped in her tracks, her feathers poofing to a noticeable degree in surprise. The first thing she did was bring her eyes to the ground, and counting shoes, she confirmed that neither Rhys, Smolder or Aten were home. Okay. That was both a relief in regards to her child, and a worrying concern for her boyfriends. "Hello," she stated evenly but her delivery was a bit unsure, a short pink brow raised as she slowly set down her bag beside the door. She held the strap in her hand for a long moment, other hand going to comb down her hair nervously. "Can I help you...?" Yes. Occupy the door way. It was better than possibly getting cornered somewhere. Her eyes drifted to the glass in his hand, squinting with a bit of contempt at the glass. Was that something out of their stash?

Osiris sat up the instant he heard a woman's voice call out. He had been positioned in such a way that he couldn't see the door if it opened, and he probably should have had the courtesy to sit up properly as he waited for someone to come home.

"Hello, my apologies if I seem as if I am intruding." Osiris' voice was a bit deeper than Aten's, and as he stood up he was even a head taller, making him seem almost like a giant in comparison to Cassie, and with his dark colours ... it just dawned on him now that he probably seemed a bit shady, especially with that pose.

"I am Osiris." he gave a small bow, keeping some distance between them so as not to make her uncomfortable, not so much as spilling a drop from his raised glassed. "I'm one of Aten's friends. He invited me over for the evening for a little R&R, but he had to leave suddenly to attend to an errand. You must be his lovely lady Cassie. It is a pleasure to finally make your acquaintance, I have heard so much about you." Osiris stood tall once more, extending a hand to offer it to her, allowing her to close the distance if she so pleased.

"Just a bit," escaped her lips without thought, the stranger most certainly intruding upon her home. It was her space, and it was a disaster zone that displayed all of their comforts. Augh, she had to stop thinking quickly before she got rather worked up, bright eyes instead following Osiris. He was tall, yes, but she kept her ground, still clutching her bag loosely.

Her wings slowly relaxed at the mention of Aten. Well, that would explain how this hybrid seemed to know where they kept the wine. It was on a shelf even normally out of her reach unless she used her wings. Cassie dipped her head in recognition of his words, and with a bit of hesitation, she slowly toed off her shoes and set them aside where they belonged. "That's me," she confirmed a bit softly, coming forward and accepting his hand. The Fallen forced a gentle smile.

"I guess I can't be suspicious of anyone Aten trusts," she laughed a bit airily, straightening out the hair at the back of her head again. "I'm glad our relationship has only driven him to a night of R&R," Cassie teased gently, moving to sit on the armrest of their couch. She folded her hands neatly in her lap.

Osiris brought his mouth down to kiss Cassie's hand as she met him half way. Good. This was good ... hopefully things would go a bit more smoothly from this point on. The man offered the fallen a small, smooth smile before gently releasing her hand. He had been about to gesture to the couch to ask her if she wanted to sit -- in her own home no less -- but the fallen was already settling on the arm chair, causing Osiris to give a soft chuckle.

"Shall I grab you some wine while we wait?" She wasn't quite what Osiris had imagined Aten's partner would be like. He had expected someone a bit more sophisticated and ... well, less. Like this. But the mystery seemed to intrigue Osiris. He had to admit he was more curious about Cassie now that she was entirely different from what he figured would be Aten's type, and even more so about what qualities she possessed that had captured Aten's attention and affections so readily. Almost as curious as he was about Aten's Smolder that he frequently ranted and raved about. "Aten poured one for himself, but he didn't get a chance to drink from it before he had to leave. I could grab you that one if you'd like? That way I'm not poking around your house anymore than what makes you comfortable without Aten around."

Well, at least he seemed slightly charming? Cassie still hadn't completed settled for despite the context clues Osiris was still a stranger, but she was letting it slide for now as she tried to relax. "I'll happily have it," the Fallen decided a little quickly, already shifting over the edge to sit on the cushion properly, legs tucked up under her. Yes, wine sounded delightful.

While the idea of having someone outside their family snooping through her (and their) things made her slightly uncomfortable, she could only laugh dryly to keep the conversation going. "There's nothing of interest you could possibly find or have a desire in taking," Cassie assured. It wasn't entirely the truth, but she was trying to be polite. "Do you have children, Osiris? It pretty much explains everything around here." As the hybrid was not familiar, she could only think of a few places he and Aten would have met, and that was his little mom circle.

Osiris made his way in to the kitchen, scooping up the glass of wine that had been abandoned on the counter, a small smile forming on his lips at the fallen's questions. "Yes." he said plainly. "I'm a single father of three."

The hybrid returned to the room, his long strides quickly bringing him back to Cassie's side as he resettled on the couch even though he wasn't hurrying. He gave the woman another small smile and offered her the wide and stout glass. It was more of a brandy glass, but Aten had been less afraid of Rhys smashing it than he had been the more expensive, top shelf glasses that Osiris had one of in his hands. Osiris promised not to set it down once Rhys was home, just to be sure no accidents would happen.

"Aaw, that's not true. There's plenty worthy of desire in this household. It very much seems like one of love, care-freeness and fond memories. What is not worth stealing in such a place?" Of course, he was teasing her, but he was also being genuine.

Ah, so that answered her question quickly. She took the glass with complete disregard for it's shape, taking a sip before she even thought of responding. "Sounds like fun," Cassie chuckled, letting the thought of the three soulstones that sat in wait in their bedroom slip out of her mind. She probably shouldn't be joking about having a ton of kids - some days even one Rhys was enough.

Cassie scoffed the slightest before relaxing her face back into slightly unreadable. Her boyfriends probably knew it as a horrible face she was either seething or scheming behind, but this time it was simply so she wasn't showing more comfort with Osiris than there really was. The whole random stranger in her house thing was still nagging her, and if it had been anywhere else Cassie most likely would have been her happy, easily approachable self without a second thought. She rarely held herself back without a reason.

"Memory snatching, that's a unique magic," the Fallen had to quip, tilting her head to the side. Her ears shifted the slightest. "If that's your talent, then maybe I do have a few for you to take. Many blunder years," Cassie teased easily back with that unreadable face, eyes narrowed the slightest in a quiet delight. "Maybe your kids listen better than mine. I try to keep anything I want to see the next day out of the house." Cassie remembered her drink with a surprised expression, stealing another sip. They probably only had so long before someone made it back.

Osiris let out a low chuckle, allowing his geistly tail and tendrils flicker with his amusement as his tiger stripes flickered with his amusement. "If I truly wished to, I'm sure I could find a way. When there's a will ... " The man smiled then, raising his glass to Cassie as he teased her back before taking a sip of his wine.

"You're an awfully lucky woman to find someone like Aten. He's practically super dad. I heard you guys have more children on the way. It always sounded like your little Rhys was a complete handful. From what I have seen of him he's quite the colourful child. Full of life. I hope he keeps that spunk through his later years. It will serve him well, I am sure. Otherwise he's a great kid. You lot have done a great job raising him. I can't foresee him getting in to any trouble. Well, with the law ... not with bruises and scrapes."

Osiris could feel that Cassie was still edgy with him. He was trying to help her unwind simply by filling the silence with conversation, but the man could tell it wasn't entirely helping. "I'm sure Aten will be along soon." He attempted to reassure her. "Don't worry."

She tilted her head the slightest, surprised that Osiris was aware of the stones. Cassie didn't know why it startled her so much Aten was so close to someone outside their circle; she could clearly see why, it was always a mad house here, but in practice it boggled her the slightest.

"We do," she confirmed softly, dragging her middle finger over the glass with a gentle smile. Was she lucky? Yes. Cassie was okay with being a little vain. She had the perfect set of boyfriends, and it helped one was always okay picking up the slack where the other lacked. They were a good balance. "Three of them, because all of my money is on sweet, little Aten clones." Cassie shook her head the slightest. "We're in the waiting stage. We've already got a few names picked out, but we need one more. Some things are just better decided once you've seen them."

She leaned forward, her wings moving with the effort to act as a counterbalance as she set her half-empty glass down on the table. "Rhys," was all she could get out before shaking her head. "I'm guessing you've never met Smolder then if that's all you have to say about Rhys. He's a doof like his dad, but if anything it confirms he'll grow up alright." Cassie could only continue to shake her head, dragging their lone couch pillow into her lap as she curled back up. "Thank you for the encouragement though, I'm sure you can clearly see why some nights I lose sleep over that kid," she chuckled dryly.

Cassie glanced towards the door at the mention, rolling her shoulders the slightest. "It's alright. We just never have much company in our apartment. Mostly because we all run on different schedules, every day is usually something new."

"Ah, yes. Smolder -- Aten's childhood beau." Osiris nodded at the mention of his name. "I haven't had the pleasure of meeting him yet, no. I had hoped to meet him this evening. In truth, this is my first time over to the house while other people besides Aten have been here. I'm rather curious to meet the entire family, and with three more children on the way ... I'm rather impressed. The fact that you and Aten managed to imbue three stones on your own? Your feelings for one another must be quite deep indeed. I admire that sort of connection. I've only ever been able to partially imbue a single stone. Two of my children are partial imbues, and one adopted. I've never experienced love myself." Osiris placed his empty wine glass down on the side table next to the couch, his glowing markings slowly starting to simmer down as he finished that thought. Having never experienced love didn't really bother him, but the idea that perhaps he was incapable of it did give cause for Osiris to brood over the subject.

"Yes," he began. "Count your many blessings, my dear. You have a blessed and wonderful life." The man smirked then. "Even if some nights are sleepless over worry and fear your son might just spontaneously combust."

She smiled faintly. "Separating work and play, I'm sure," Cassie commented on that. While Osiris was a bit different (if she had to choose a word), nothing exactly screamed 'keep this man away from my family' other than for Osiris' interest. If they were getting together for a night of relaxation, having Aten's family around as well probably did not help. She slid her glass back into her hands, resting it against her lap as she finished her long sip.

"It's different," the Fallen settled on as an explanation of their stones. "We have Rhys, but I'm sure you know he's Smolder's partial. This stone journey will be something new." She could only continue to hold her expression from before, lips slightly curved. "Aten'll have to tell you if the result is as glorious as the cheesy romance novels say they are," she laughed, shaking her head the slightest. "No judgement Osiris. If I hadn't ever found either of them, I'd probably have a similar group of kids." Her new smile was more genuine. Cassie paused to stay something, but firmly shut her mouth as she realized she didn't process the thought the correct way.

"Are your kids Academy kids?" she asked instead, re-adjusting her wings. "Or are they take-home kids like ours?" Cassie was simply curious, remembering the first discussion she and Smolder had had over Rhys and their arrangement raising him. It was an innocent question at the surface.

Cassie made a brief face though, her brows drawing together and she dragged her hand over the crease with one fluid motion. "That's jinxing it. Don't say stuff like that, if it isn't going to be Rhys, it'll be our bed or something."

Osiris couldn't help but to laugh at Cassie's romance comment. He knew full well what she was talking about -- or rather, had some idea. Osiris had often times stumbles on to Aten waiting to pick up Rhys from school and found him leaning against various poles or fire hydrants or sitting on benches reading sappy and sexy harlequin books. It was actually how Osiris had first met Aten, looming over curiously with a quirked brow and asking him how the read was. Poor Aten had jumped so high in his skin and flushed with embarrassment that he had been caught reading the books in public, then tried so desperately to keep his cool and quiet reserve. But Osiris had seen right through to Aten's squishy soft center on the first day.

"Yes, I will have to make note to check in with him on that once the children are a bit older. Do you think Smolder's upset he couldn't imbue stones, or relieved?" he asked curiously. "From what I've been told it seems like his little Rhys is more than what he could have handled alone."

Osiris crossed his legs and leaned against the back of the couch. "My kids are 'take-home' kids." he wasn't sure he cared for that term. "I'd rather keep my kids close. I don't think I'd feel comfortable ditching them at the Academy to be raised and grow there when they have a parent who can care for them just as well. The caretakers have enough on their plates. If every parent was dropping off three or more children to live out after-school lives there ... I imagine they'd run out of dorm and bed space quite quickly. And have their caretakers all be immensely burnt out."

"Smolder?" she echoed, her ear tufts twitching the slightest as Osiris snuck that one in there. "He rolled with it. I think he enjoys the excitement of children more than the parenting aspect. I don't think he can be mad when we still have so many more opportunities in the future." Her expression was easy, and she dragged her fingers down the length of the glass once more. She loved the boy immensely, but she knew better than to say out loud that it was either all three of them, or just her and Aten. Smolder had to get his act together before she could even reasonably consider following through with imbuing with just him. Quietly, she hoped that their new set of kids would improve on that. The last thing she wanted was to force Aten to be super Dad to another kid that wasn't technically his even though they all consented. It was just the principle.

She relaxed the slightest, pleased to hear that much from the hybrid. Cassie didn't usually hide how much she loathed being raised by the Academy. Maybe she just rolled bad luck and with being herself it just was quiet and lonely, but it had been the last thing she wanted with Rhys. "I agree wholly," she settled on, curling her toes into the couch. "I always thought it a rather limiting place to be. Well, at least until the very end when I finally had some encouragement to protest some of the rules." She dragged her thumb over her other hand. "I'm curious to see how things change there in the future, the Nixie and Above stirring things up."

"Yes," Osiris agreed, nodding his head. "I'm curious to see what happens as the future unfolds before us. With the grimm, nixie, and now all the daydreams having appeared ... I can only wonder how the rules will change as their cultures impact Below's more mainstream societies. I wonder if any other races will slowly be sifted in ... the worlds are vast. I can only begin to imagine what sorts of mysteries lie just beyond the horizon."

Osiris finished his glass of wine at long last and got to his feet to return it to the kitchen. "It is good to hear that Smolder is already with it, then. I do not know if I would do well in a triad. The dynamics of one are very fascinating, especially with so many children in the mix. I admire you all for it. It is definitely not for everyone." The hybrid rinsed his glass under the tap and gave it a quick wash before tucking it away again on the special shelf Aten had pulled it from.

"I know that you are just about to have three more, but do you think you'll ever have anymore children, then? You're all still so young."
