Arian had spent the days leading up to his New Year's Eve of 2014, preparing to head down to visit family. Orah had been away - was on Ida as Ida and not due to come back before the end of January, but he had spent a simple Christmas up in Destiny City with Liam and Liryn and Lola.

Arian had spent the days leading up to his New Year's Eve of 2015, pretty much as he had spent all his December days post Orah's sudden disappearance, spending his time as Athene in an attempt to try and find her.

Arian had spent his New Year's Eve of 2014 amongst family, with all of them gathered over his Uncle's and Aunt's house. They had clustered round in the living room for the final countdown into 2015 and crowded round the telly in order to watch the firework celebrations.

Arian had spent his New Year's Eve of 2015 out and about as Athene as he continued to try to find his missing flat and team mate - he wasn't alone, Liryn also with him, the small tabby bobtail mauvian letting him know in no uncertain terms that he refused to be left behind.
The town had been full with people out and about to celebrate - full of cheer and merry-making as people prepared to see in the year. There was no such cheer on the part of the eternal and mauvian, just a map and red pen and some coffee drunk on the move from the thermos that Athene as Arian had thought to bring along and was full of coffee.
The amount of powered auras out and about had been scarce - a few youma that also seemed disinclined to celebrate, but nothing.
Athene wasn't how late it was when he finally stopped to take a brief break at some point, atop a building rooftop, Liryn pressed up against his legs as the two of them looked out onto the city and he drank more coffee.
The sound of a dull cheer arose from somewhere in the distance as 2015 gave way to 2016, but neither of the pair was aware of the change in year as Athene tiredly scooped up Liryn and turned away tiredly to once again pick up the search.

Arian had returned to Destiny City late on the evening of January 2nd, having found out the day prior that his father was planning to re-marry.
He slipped into bed sleepily in the quiet apartment only to be awoken by Liryn in the early hours of the 3rd to find out that a *lot* had gone down in the short time that he'd been away.

At some point it had dawned on Athene that it was January 1st - that 2015 had slipped into 2016 and for one long moment tired eyes glanced up and skywards.
At some point on this day, his friend and former team leader Princess Polaris was getting married - up on the North Star from where she took her senshi name.
And for one long moment tired fingers clenched round the handle of the thermos flask. He'd been happy back for her and Niflhel both when she'd invited him and had been looking forward to the event and had been planning to ask Ida if she wanted to come with him and Liryn - had wanted her to meet the Princess who had helped him back when he'd been a basic senshi.
But that was then and this was now and whilst Athene wished Polaris well, he knew he could no longer go. Not now.. Not like this - not with Ida missing.
He'd sent an apology to Polaris, but had kept his reasons for not going vague, not wanting to trouble her before her upcoming wedding.
One final look up and then he had turned and started walking, but between the events of New Year 2015 and the start of New Year 2016, Athene was starting to think that he hated the the turn of the year.
