Charmstar had wished he ran into a certain during the Solstice Festival. It would have made this look less silly to the junior fallen. He was waiting by the playground, the plushie he'd won in hand in hopes of running into his friend whom he'd dubbed affectionately as Pip. Charmstar would have also liked to introduce the litch to the little group of friends he'd made, if only to give him a veritable vista of pink and pretties.
As a junior, the fallen could no longer rely on being twee and his switched consonants to charm others. He'd gotten the impression that if he'd kept that up as a junior he'd get laughed at, or worse, not be taken seriously. Then again, he was hanging at the playground with a plushie, just on the off-chance of running into Lavi. There wasn't a guarantee their first fateful encounter would be repeated but the romantic angle was too good to pass up in Charmstar's opinion.

Laviticus had his arms full of books, walking out of the school and heading across the playground. The years and age had only made him all the more quiet and solitary. Aside from Charmstar, Laviticus had barely even seem him as of late, but the boy was patient. He knew that Charm would always come around again. If Laviticus was being honest with himself, he had a lot more on his plate than just a lack of friends in his life. His dad, Likais, was having problems. Laviticus could tell. He was coming home late in the evenings reeking of alcohol. In his youth, his father had seemed so bright and full of life. Lavi had always looked up to him. But now his dad Sascha had a new child with a new woman, and Lavi and his sister rarely talked ... and his other dad just seemed so.
Lost.
And then ... when Laviticus was least expecting it ... his dad ... just walked out.
He yearned for the days of his youth. Sure, he wasn't that old ... and he was still very much in his early teen years, but Laviticus felt he was on just ... such a different wavelength than the rest of his peers. Everyone was just so worried about their grades and what university to go to. Laviticus didn't even have time to worry about any of that. He yearned so much just to be Pip again ...
That's why he always found himself coming back to the playground. Back to the swings where Charm first taught him how to 'fly'. As terrified as he had been ... he had really enjoyed himself. Life seemed so much more simple then.
The back of his neck began to tingle, and the geist-litch hybrid lifted his head from his downcast gaze, as if sensing someone was there, and much to Laviticus' surprise and amazement, there on the swings was the boy from his childhood, and the hybrid couldn't help but to blush darkly.
Oh, he was even prettier than Laviticus had remembered! It felt like it had been so long since he'd last seen him, he'd almost forgotten how beautiful he truly was.
The boy's heart skipped a beat in his chest as he raised one clawed hand to wave at his old friend. "Charmstar~!" Laviticus called out to him. What was he holding? A plushie? My, it looked rather cute. Charmstar looked so adorable just sitting there holding that cute little fluffy-thing in his arms. Laviticus silently hoped he was waiting there for him ...
Huni Pi
Did you wanna grab the plushie image for me! Seems I forgot to save it ;n;
Charmstar didn't know why he thought Pip would still be a freshling. Given the much more mature level of conversation the hybrid had displayed, the fallen would have thought Pip would be a senior by now. That he had yet to find the litch-geist hybrid was getting to him and the foreign sensation of self-consciousness was beginning to make itself home in his head.
This is stupid, he glumly thought. Of course you won't find Pip here. You're the only one being a dumb baby waiting at the playground hoping to find him. What were you expecting?
His mental berating continued, even after he heard someone call his name. The junior fallen had chalked it up to his imagination pretending that if he glanced behind him he'd find "Pip!" he declared, practically leaping off the swing to stand. He almost didn't recognize his friend, but the markings were familiar, that gorgeous pink hair made Charmstar want to run his fingers through them. For a moment his mind went blank.
But he was Charmstar and he refused to be reduced to a gibbering fool just because he found his already pretty friend was now an even prettier friend. He rallied magnificently (or he thought he did.) Golden wings opened, the feathers fluttering from the display before tucking them behind him.
He opened his mouth to greet Lavi and instead came out, "Glksp-"
Charmstar mentally cursed his tongue and feigned coughing before regaining his ability of speech, "I'm so happy to find you here!" he said, smiling warmly as he crossed the playground towards his friend, the plushie now hidden behind him.

Laviticus felt like he couldn't breathe properly. He felt so elated and overjoyed to see his old friend standing before him, and as Laviticus closed the distance and Charmstar rose to greet him, Lavi couldn't keep himself from giggling girlishly.
"The feeling is mutual, my friend." he said with a genuine smile, trying to ignore the obvious blunder that Charm had made as he had tried to speak.
Feeling a touch dizzy, the boy leaned in, pink wispy curls cascading over his left shoulder as he smiled up at the taller boy with a cute little bow smile, the same smile he had as a freshling that seemed oh so familiar. "What's that you're holding behind your back?" he asked with an adorable happy tone to his voice. "And what are you doing out here in the cold all by your lonesome?"
Apparently Lavi had inherited a touch of Likais' flirty nature, but not so over-the-top or as extreme as his father's. Laviticus hadn't meant to come off as flirtatious as he had. The boy was just so excited to be reuinited with his old friend that he couldn't help but to blush and perhaps put a bit more intent behind his words than he had meant to.
"You weren't ... waiting for me, were you, Charming?"
The fallen felt his heart skip a beat, he didn't normally feel nervous. Not even when he was crashing and burning so horribly at his attempts in flirting with any lovely pink nightmare. Oh sure, there was embarrassment and regret and his pride taking an enormous beating but not nervousness like this. Charmstar chalked it up with the fact that he didn't have any history with those other nightmares as he did with Laviticus.
"You saw it already?" he sounded disappointed that his attempt to surprise Laviticus had failed and his wings drooped slightly. "I was hoping to surprise you."
At the teasing, the fallen saw no reason to deny it. He wasn't like that with his feelings and intentions, at least not when he knew them. He gave the hybrid a charming smile in hopes to make that lovely blush even deeper. "I was indeed waiting for you, Pip. So I could give a cutie something cute." He managed to regain some of his usual confidence as he flourished the plush towards his friend and added a wink for good measure. "I won it at the Solstice Festival. I saw the colors and immediately thought of you. I looked for you but I didn't see hide or hair of you. Hope you like it."

Laviticus couldn't keep himself from blushing even more darkly, knitting his bone-claw hands together and swaying with a touch of shyness. "I may have seen it ... " he admitted cutely. "But that doesn't make me any less surprised!" As Charmstar offered the plush to him, Laviticus gladly accepted it and scooped it up in to his arms, giving it a tiny squeeze, hiding his face behind it as he closed his eyes, getting lost in the moment.
It was a nice surprise. There was no way Lavi could deny that at all. And just holding the plushie in his arms ... it made the hybrid feel leagues better.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there, Charming ... " Lavi called him by his nickname. "I've ... I've been having. Problems at home. So I've been really absent lately. It has been hard to celebrate ... " the geist-litch let his plushie droop a little in his arms, though he didn't relinquish his tight hold. "But, I hope you have been well? I'm so sorry I don't have anything for you in return after all this time ... !"
Charmstar was in the middle of opening his mouth to tell his friend that it was alright that they weren't there. But the words caught in his throat when Pip said they were having problems at home. Charmstar himself was slowly realizing that independence and no longer being under his caretaker wasn't the wonderful adventure he was expecting it to be. There were moments where he sort of wished he could go back to being a freshling so he could be with others. He mentally shook himself and told himself: No, this was not the time for a pity-party. Pip needs you more.
He fell back to how DJ Heartstrings would approach such a situation. Slowly, he reached out to try and take one of Lavi's hands into his own. "It sounds like you've been having a rough time. Do you want to talk about it? W-with me, I mean. We can sit on the swings too." he offered furtively, smiling as warmly as he could manage. DJ Heartstring made it very clear to never force anyone into talking if they didn't want to.

Lavi's cheeks flushed a deep, dark pink as Charming took his hands gently in his. His heart was set athunder inside his chest, and he breathed in ever so delicately to try and catch his breath.
They were right back where it all started. The swings. Something about coming full circle again brought Laviticus some comfort, made him feel like he was back in his childhood where he was isolated from the problems of adults, unaware and innocent still.
Tears welling up in his eyes, Lavi smiled weakly, but warmly. "Oh, yes, please ... !" he said breathlessly. "I would love nothing more than that, if you'll have me ... ?" the hybrid squeezed the fallen's hands tightly in his. He wanted nothing more than to share everything with him.
Charmstar blinked and looked taken aback, "Have you?" he said. His wings fluttered open behind him just a fraction before he quickly folded them back. But they opened just enough to suggest surprise or a knee-jerk reaction. He gathered his composure and stood as straight as he was physically able before smiling warmly at his dear, dear friend. "How could you ask me to have you when I've always been-"
The phrase that tried to dance across the fallen's tongue had been your humble servant. But Charmstar, junior he may be, knew himself enough to know that he was anything but humble and always saw himself as someone's equal at the very least. And Pip was too precious to him to be a mere servant. So he cut off the bits that didn't apply and ended up with
"Yours?"

Laviticus' cheeks went bright pink, bowing his head then as he pressed his hands over his mouth. Did ... did Charming just ... ? Did he?
"W-what ... what do you mean, Charmstar? By ... 'yours'. Are you ... are you ... ?" Laviticus' heart was beating erratically in his chest. Was Charmstar trying to say that he liked him? Was he saying something else? Laviticus didn't want to take it the wrong way, but he was just so hopeful.
Charmstar gave Lavi's hand a reassuring squeeze before he pressed the hybrid's palm against his chest. The bright glow of his dear friend's markings set the fallen's heart aflutter. "I am whatever you wish for me to be. I am yours as you are mine." Whether or not Lavi shared Charmstar's affection, this was no time for halfhearted inquiries or doubt. Confidence was key and while the fallen didn't always feel certain about things, when he was, he was certain all the way through.

Laviticus' eyes watered, a soft shuddering breath passing his lips. His heart was pounding hard in his chest, threatening to burst forward. Laviticus couldn't contain himself any longer, and he grabbed Charming by the neck and pulled him in, kissing him deeply.
Laviticus' first kiss. Shouldn't he have asked? Wouldn't it have been nicer if he had? It felt nice ... but ... what if Charmstar didn't reciprocate?
Tears streamed down the hybrid's face, longing mixed with fear ...
This was not how Charmstar imagined his first kiss would be like. The scenarios he'd played out in his head always had him as the instigator and while Laviticus was the recipient in a good number of these scenarios, the fallen had not once considered it would be the other way around. He froze at first, just for a heartbeat, before relaxing into the kiss and allowing his wings to fold around them, enclosing the pair within his feathery embrace.
He'd done it for privacy. Not only because this was his first kiss and something precious but because Pip was crying and how would that look should someone see them? Charmstar's finger brushed against the hybrid's cheek, the pads wiping at his tears.

"I love you," Laviticus whispered against his lips as he stopped kissing Charmstar, his whole body shaking with raw emotion. So much had happened in his life since the two last saw each other, and Laviticus just wanted to tell him everything. But more importantly than all the drama in his life, as much as he felt that dark shadow creeping behind him, lingering in everything that Laviticus did, he just wanted to be here and present with Charmstar.
The stuff about his family could wait. All of his troubles, his worries ... those could wait. This was what mattered right now. Maybe it was because Laviticus couldn't express himself in any other way -- maybe that was why the hybrid simply just ... gave in to what he was feeling for once. One could only go so long without saying what they meant, or denying their feelings. And this was something that Laviticus didn't want to repress any longer.
His heart still hammering away, Laviticus stepped back, biting his lower lip gently, lightly brushing against Charmstar's feathers. "S-sorry ... " he muttered gently. "I ... I couldn't ... I couldn't help myself."
