Vaeryn sat in the lounge area with his laptop resting on his thighs, little feet kicking as he hummed along to the music that was playing from it. He had been talking with his online friends for hours now, tuning out his other roommates in the lounge milling about. He could have gone to the library where it was quiet, but truthfully, the background noise was nice. Vaeryn didn't mind it. It meant he could be a part of things without having to directly be a part of it directly.

This was his comfort zone. He likely seemed like a complete normal, healthy child. But in truth, the boy was shy and afraid of other children. Not for any reason he could identify, but the boy didn't even speak with his sister all that often, or even his second mom. And Vaeryn was oddly fine with that.

The hybrid hadn't really noticed that his humming had turned in to full-blown singing as some of his roommates turned to observe him curiously. They rarely heard a single word pass his lips, and yet here he was, completely and totally absorbed in his online conversations and music that he had almost forgotten the rest of the world existed ...
