Penny for your Thoughts (The locket is originally mentioned here as being found just laying among Polaris' jewelry box.)
Snowball's tail flickered as he sat and stared at the little locket sitting in front of him. He was sitting there thinking about how things had gone over the past few months. How he was still worried over what the pair thought of him. If they thought different of him, even though they never showed it.
It was thanksgiving, Aurora was cooking the turkey and Azzo helping her. Merlin was asleep nearby and Snowball was sitting there feeling as if he may not always belong. His ears were low as he opened the tricket with his paws. There was something missing an empty place for a picture. One side had him and Polaris smiling, happy maybe they were laughing? This had to be before his meddling his breaking them apart.
The cat looked with violet eyes watering trying to keep from being an emotional mess every time he looked at the locket. Suddenly he had a thought and moved towards Azzo's computer pulling up a new picture. He couldn't make up the past, there wasn't a way to. However, he could do his best to make sure the future was bright!
He printed out a picture and cut it out swiftly his tail swished as he worked, hoping to get everything done before thanksgiving dinner he wanted to show Aurora how much she meant to him. He needed to make sure the wedding would be perfect, all before the table was set for Thanksgiving dinner. Without her he wouldn't be here. Though he couldn't be happy if she didn't have her Knight. While things may have been different in the past, and things kept the pair from being together. While he was the guardian responsible for making sure they weren't. . .
He could fix this. He could fix it all right? He shoved the picture into the empty side of the frame softly, but with quick speed. This wasn't something he could break, not something more modern day, more finicky! When he finished he sat looking at the small locket of his from Polaris, his tail softly flicked back and forth as he looked at it.
His eyes closed and his head bowed softly as he whispered. "With this I do beg amends be made. For love and friendship to never fade." His paws closed the locket pressed firmly on it as he continued, "My deeds of the past erased they cannot. However, lessons learned and new battles are fought. Let me continue to guide those I love. From all my heart to Polaris above. I vow to protect those in need, and repair that with good deed!"
His ears twitched as he felt something tingling. Though he didn't dare open his eyes, something told him to try and push some sort of magic through, maybe he could make the locket special after al! "Free me from these chains! I ask you not with intent of my own gain." He placed his forehead star to the locket and focused his magic towards it. "Let me repair what has been broken, and let Polaris' trust have been spoken!"
Slowly, suddenly there was a feeling of movement, Snowball's eyes closed tight for it felt as if he had just traveled far from earth. The sounds of the outside world were quite, the whisper of cold winds blew and as he slowly opened his eyes and looked at the ground pulling his paws from his forehead with locket in paw. He saw snow. . . for the first time . . . in a while. Purple eyes scanned the horizon and soon he saw Polaris' castle. Grand, structured sitting there waiting for him.
". . . H-how?" He paused and he looked at the locket, "Was it the wish, that I could come here? I-I don't understand. Did you call me for something?" The cat looked around the castle headed for the halls, as he placed the locket around his neck and shifted into Human form.
" . . . A-are you going to let me help, repair what's been broken? Is that what it is?" He asked softly though no answer came. His hand rested on the precious locket, "T-thank you. I want to show her how important she is to me. I want to show her I meant no harm in the past. I know she says she believes I did it for the right reasons, but this, this shows she still trusts me right?"
"I mean she made the wish too. . . She asked that I could come here." The cat was biting his lower lip as he spoke and thought about what had just happened. He walked into his own room of the castle, looking around. There was a lot to do, and his task list for the wedding was tremendous. If this was because of their wish, Snowball's ears twitched. "She doesn't hate me. . ."
He mused softly as he sat on the edge of the elaborate bed. Trying to figure out where he needed to start first. Besides making obvious lists to help him finish all of the chores he was about to take on, including but not limited to seeing if he could figure out how to make fire and magnets work for them. He wasn't sure if the castle had an electrical system of any sort even if it was just crude. Maybe he could fix something up? Though generators would be the fastest option for the wedding night. So the guests could enjoy music and lights other than fire light as pretty as that is. He shifted slightly in his thoughts as he hummed softly to let it go.
She couldn't stay mad at him or even hurt towards him if he finished fixing up the place by his self since they were obviously busy with not only planning the weddings but planning for Christmas too. Snowball frowned softly as he looked around. "Thank you." He said quietly to her homeworld.
