Frossa was overjoyed. More than overjoyed! The mooncake stall had since filled the sample plate she had previously been so kind to lick clean. As soon as the scent of baked pastries reached her sniffnode, she shot off like a rocket. Shoving through the crowd, (toppling a redblood over into a greenie in the process, eliciting a delighted giggle from Frossa), she closed the gap between herself and delicious, free cake.
She had never sampled this particular kind of cake before the festival, much to her sugary refined taste's dismay. Cake she had never tried! And so ornate and pretty, too. Who knew such a thing existed. Frossa had taken a shining to it, (well, it was doughy and sweet), and her fingers wiggled eagerly once more for the little woody brown nuggets of deliciousness. She twirled and greeted the farmer tending to the front area with a dramatic wave in the air. They only rose a brow in response, and stiffly turned away to address someone else. Ahh- well! As soon as she was done with their displays, the farmer would be able to go right back to work replacing them. Look how unhappy that poor thing looked, all uncomfortable-like with nothing to keep their hands busy with! Frossa giggled, beelining for the mooncakes. She was ever so gracious, wasn't she?
"Mmm~" The first bite was heavenly. A supple, delicate crust that seemed to almost melt against the tongue, hiding impossibly silky, yet dense filling. Frossa sighed to herself blissfully, hand in cheek. The second had a different filling with little seeds, but it was baked to the same luscious shade of brown and was equally as mouth watering. The third, a velvety custard. Frossa basked in the decadent roulette of flavours, (grateful Cerise wasn't here with her damned hot peppers), depositing cake after cake after cake into her mouth.
Then she reached for Nucleo's.
Frossa paused, fingertips grazing the tops of the bulging cake. It looked... bad. Really bad. Unappetizingly so. The ornate pressed designs of the other cakes looked more like wrinkles on these ones, and it oozed in more than one place. Frossa tilted her head, scrunched her nose, then shrugged. Well, not every dish was elegantly presented. Didn't mean it didn't taste lovely! Without another thought on the matter, the purpleblood popped it into her mouth.
Her face immediately paled.
Then, it burst out into a blazen purple, nearly washing out her freckles. "A-aack!" She gagged, clutching at her throat. "Guu-uugh--" The flavour, atrocious. It tasted how Alifax's disgusting cave smelt. Muddy and burnt. The texture- well, it was ******** both lodged in her throat and stuck to her sharp teeth, proving difficult to even gather enough in one place to spit out. Her eyes rolled up into her head. She was dying. She was sure of it. But if it freed her from this hell, it was fine.
Dry heaving and shaking, Frossa braced herself against the table and tried to expel whatever little of the 'cake' she could onto the grass, genuinely concerned for her survival. She was only grateful Hippodad stayed on the outskirts of the festival; whatever would he think of her spitting and wheezing around like some feral in public? Simply unladylike.

Only a second after he'd pulled off his brilliant sleight of hand, a girl approached the table and began to eat. Good, the proof would disappear and he'd never have to worry about this again! But wait, what if she confronted the farmer about the horrendous mooncake and ruined her reputation?
What had he done!?
Turning back, Nucleo was horrified to see that now the troll was choking! Froth! Feeling responsible, he rushed over and began to squeeze her in an awkward tight hug to try and dislodge the mooncake, in a heimlich maneuver of sorts. Soft curls briefly shook as they wrestled apart and he checked that she could finally breathe.
"Are you okay? Sorry! I didn't think they were that bad!" The greenblood apologized frantically. Then he saw her purple symbol. Eyes darted down to her boots and eventually her bracelet, quickly realizing he'd just almost killed and then hugged a purpleblood.
Froth indeed.

"Hhhkk-" Frossa jolted, startled to feel a small pair of arms wrap around her ribcage, but recognized it as someone's frantic attempts to assist her. A small fist slammed on the table. She sputtered out what was left of the 'cake' with an aggressive hiccup, a half-chewed morsel hitting the grass with a soft plap before rolling to a stop as it freed from her wind pipe. She gasped greedily for air, sucking in gulp after gulp of sweet, life-sustaining gas.
Frossa eventually caught her breath, wiping her mouth off on the back of her hand before turning around to face her saviour. In all honesty she had half expected to see Alifax's blank face staring down at her- but instead, it was a greenblood she had never met before, much to her chagrin.
Sweeping him up and down with her sunken in eyes, she forced a polite smile. "I'm... alive," she started, throat raw from her violent coughing. She was going to thank the lowblood for his help- but then his words sank in. "Wait." She squinted up at him, brows furrowed. The smile dissipated. "You mean to imply that you're the one responsible for this?" Frossa jutted an accusational finger at the overbaked, disgusting mess left on the sample tray and awaited his testimony. So much for a good samaritian.

"Well, I-" Nucleo fumbled for an answer. Should he answer honestly? She was glaring like she'd like to chop him up and make a mooncake out of him! On the other hand, he didn't want her to turn on the farmer who'd done nothing wrong either. Feeling guilty and a little bit cornered, the boy gulped and tried to stomach what might happen next.
"Yes. But I'll make it up to you!" Please don't kill me- Please don't kill me. He tried to keep his voice chipper and positive, figuring that maybe acting like it wasn't the end of the world would convince her not to end his. Nucleo couldn't help the nervousness that shone in his eyes but he did his best to force a friendly smile. If there was anything he was good at, it would be customer service! Maybe this was the test he was destined to prove he could handle!
"Is there anything you've been wanting from the festival? I'll buy it for you! Or win it!" It was a tall promise but better than getting dragged off by drones!
melona-pan And then she asks him for the freaking needle, right? LOL plz be kind (but really, anything is fine)

Frossa had been tapping the toe of her little boot on the ground impatiently- thoroughly unamused- until the greenblood asked if there was anything she wanted. She had expected groveling, flattery even- but this was proving even more delicious than the mooncakes.
"Oooh~?" Her mood immediately flipped once more, smile widening sharkishly. Frossa stared up at him through slotted eyelids as she smugly considered his offer. Small gears turned in her mischievous little thinkpan. The faint twinkle of fear in his expression pulled a giggle from her throat- Frossa played it off immediately as part of her contentment.
"Well, if you're offering! How chivalrous of you." Her voice dripped sickly sweet, and she waved her wrist limply towards him as if to say oh, you. Oh, she did ever love the obsequious ones.
Looking up at the double moons she hummed dramatically, tapping at her chin. "Clearly someone of my status," she gestured at her symbol, "has the means to purchase anything at this shanty event. Or win," she added with a laugh, flipping her hair. "But there is one thing..."
Her voice rose with girlish delight, and Frossa took a step closer to Nucleo, leaning in to peer up at the taller troll.
"You!"Doutei a needle? she has higher aspirations :3

"I guess that's true." Nucleo laughed awkwardly as she pointed out the problem with his offer. He hadn't even thought of that. Uncertain of what to say next, he frowned in thought while she stepped closer to him. Wait huh?
"Me?" The greenblood looked startled by her demand. She looked pretty pleased with herself and he found himself a little confused. He'd just almost killed her with a mooncake and she wanted him to stick around? What would she gain from that? There was no way a highblood of her status had ever met him before and even if he had trouble with his memories he was sure he had never run into the girl ever. Really, why did she want him?
"Oh I get it! You're pretty funny!" He laughed, thinking that she'd meant it as a joke. When she continued to watch him, the boy felt the nervousness creep in and found himself realizing it wasn't.
"A-ah, I'm afraid I'm not for sale..." Stepping back, he attempted to widen the distance between them but couldn't shake off her eyes. Looking at her face now, she was quite pretty and he didn't know if it would be a good or bad thing to stay here with her. He feared that she wanted to drag him off and exact revenge.
"I mean I don't even know who you are."

Frossa burst out into a fit of giggles, clutching her sides. "Oh, good gracious me! You're a silly little thing, aren't you?" She waved a limp hand in the air at the taller boy, as if to swat away the very idea. Not that she hadn't been testing the waters.
"No, no, no. I would never dream of something so iniquitous." She lied with ease, shaking her head and letting out a soft tsk tsk tsk. Reaching into the purple bag slung across her shoulder, Frossa retrieved a carry-sized bottle of Faygo. "What I mean to imply is- I seem to have gotten separated from my companion. Why don't you help me look for him and keep me company until then?" A charming bat of her eyelashes. "You wouldn't leave a lady all by her lonesome after a near-death experience, would you?" The purpleblood clutched her bottle to her chest, eyes wide, mockingly aghast.
"I suppose that may not be of equal payment, all considering," an over dramatic quiver of lips was inserted here, before Frossa lifted the bottle to them and took a swig of the sugary liquid to cleanse her palette from the lingering taste of the greenblood's shitcakes. "But I'm feeling rather benevolent tonight! I mean, we're all here to have fun, riiight?" And watching him squirm sure was just that.
"My name is Frossa Fyrste," she smiled up at him sweetly. "And yours?"

"Of course not!" Nucleo squawked as the girl effectively guilt tripped him. He wondered about her lost companion but didn't have time to ask because now she was introducing herself and he had to note her name. He could not mess things up with this troll any more than he already had!
"That's a cute name!" Giving the highblood a compliment, it wasn't even a lie. He liked alliterative names, they had a certain flair to them. She gave off the impression that she had tons of it. While intimidating, there was something a little charming about her dramatic antics. He didn't know how sincere her mercy was but it didn't matter, they were just two trolls who'd bumped into each other at the festival. From the sound of it, she was likely bored while wondering where her friend had wandered off to.
"I'm Nucleo Glatte." He could've made up a fake name but it didn't seem necessary at this point. Besides, he didn't want any of his friends to spot him tonight and call him by his real name and expose him!
"So where did you last see your companion? And who are we looking for?" He was curious what kind of troll she kept for her normal company. Would they be another highblood? Lowblood? Just as playful as her?
As loud?

Frossa's broad smile only cracked wider- both at Nucleo's reaction and compliment. Seeing another troll fidget under her presence always gave Frossa a self-satisfied rush. It was one thing to be respected because of her hue- that was to be expected- but another feeling altogether to be obeyed out of fear. Well, perhaps fear was putting it strongly and the two were often linked, but the greenblood carried an anxious edge in his forced smile and tone of voice that implied distress. She savoured in it, swirling her tongue against the ridges of her sharklike teeth.
"Why, thank you. Isn't that sweet of you." The purpleblood chirped emptily, making sure not to forget her manners. Of course it was cute. She was cute. The epitome of cute. Just look at that hair, that light spinkling of freckles, those thick and luxurious eyelashes. "Nuucleooo..." Echoing his name slowly, Frossa committed the greenblood to memory. Now, she wasn't the type of troll to really bother making an effort to learn someone's name- not unless she had a good reason to. It was easy enough to skirt around conversations with 'darling's and 'lowblood'. But not this one. "Nucleo." It had it's own ring to it, didn't it?
Gesturing for him to follow after her, Frossa began to retrace her steps through the crowd to the last time she had seen Alifax. "I believe it was somewhere around the haystack," tapping her chin, she threw Nucleo a glance over her shoulder, drills ever bouncing and springing back into place. "There was a surge of trolls- I guess something finished? We got separated in the crowd."
"His name is Alifax!" She continued with her explanation, stretching one hand up as far as she could reach. "He's like, really tall. And his face usually looks like this," Frossa banished the smile from her own, stiffening and turning to stare at Nucleo blankly through drooped eyelids. After a moment, she blinked the apathetic look off of her face and laughed, waving one hand loosely in the air. Twirling her wrist, she pointed at a nearby redblood. "He's a redblood, like that, but even lower. The lowest of low. His clothes are always burnt, so that's a good giveaway!" Even when she dressed him herself, no matter how careful she knew he was being, the garments ended up burnt, especially around the edges. Frossa had come to terms that it couldn't be helped.
"Alifax is my..." the purpleblood trailed off, looking up at the clear night sky above them. She wondered if he shared the same pale feelings she did for him, but it was so hard to get an accurate read on him sometimes. He wasn't the most... communicative. "Friend."

Her description of her 'friend' made him hesitate. Her impression of him suggested the guy didn't smile around her. The way she gleefully put down his blood color told him plenty more. Topped off with the mysterious pause before the word friend, it became clear this fellow was not a friend but rather a victim. He'd probably finally managed to escape her at the festival and how could Nucleo in good faith reunite them this quickly? He didn't plan to become his replacement but maybe, he could give the guy a break for a few minutes at least.
"I see! He sounds very interesting!" Pretending all was jolly and good, the boy did not let on about his plan and reached down to take Frossa's hand. He wanted to make sure she couldn't wander or take off running if she caught a glimpse of her lost companion. It might be over stepping his bounds a little but he gave her a sweet smile and tried to appear pleasantly naive. He wasn't a huge liar but was good at faking his way through social situations for the most part. It helped that he liked talking with others, even if they scared or overwhelmed him.
"Let's check over here!" Guiding them down a path in the opposite direction of the haystack, he hoped his enthusiasm would catch on. They were unofficially handcuffed to each other so he might as well make the most of it with an open mind and see if Frossa would tell him a little more about herself. She seemed more than happy to chat all night if he'd let her.
"Do you like parties like this?" Ugh stupid. Couldn't he come up with something better than that? Look at her, she obviously loved things like this!
"I mean, what was the wildest party you've ever been to?" Well that was a little better.

"He is interesting!" Frossa chirped brightly in reference to Alifax. Most trolls probably wouldn't use such a word to describe him, but she certainly found him so. Even if he wasn't that great of a storyteller- when it came to either FLARP or recounting one of his military adventures- the content was there. And that's what really mattered! When Hazzan had first suggested adding him to their games, Frossa had been enthralled by the idea of a powered troll in their group, (such realism! No special effects needed!), but he had hardly lived up to the images she had painted in her head. Alifax quickly changed that once they got to a battle scene. His powers may have been the only reason she agreed to play with him in the first place, but somewhere along the line he had ended up as so much more than that.
Now normally, Frossa would have slapped Nucleo's hand away and chastised a lowblood she just met for touching her. But he was being obedient- and she liked feeling like he was putty in her hands (his felt nervously clammy). What she didn't like, however, was him taking the lead.
Taking a few brisk steps to catch up with the leggier boy's strides, Frossa gained footing and forceful yanked him in the direction he was trying to guide them in. She would lead. Her grip on his hand tightened, squeezing his fingers forcefully.
"Parties are fun! Would I be here if I didn't think so?" She responded with a distracted drawl, squinting around at the trolls streaming past them. "As long as they're serving refreshments. And as long as they're better than yours." But the wildest one she had been to? Frossa felt a pang of regret for being grounded during Awassi's little fling. Alifax's story would have been better. Did FLARP parties count? The hunting parties, maybe? Truth be told, events like the Jubilee paled in comparison.
"Hmm..." Tapping her chin with one finger, Frossa's eyes fluttered closed as she inwardly reflected. "Well, this one time Alifax and I burnt down a building." FLARP was great like that. She burst out into a fit of maniacal laughter, clutching her side with a free hand. Well, it was more him. But she was sworn to secrecy about his gifts, after all. "I mean- it was an accident, but I suppose you could describe it as wild." Stifling her giggles, Frossa rolled her head and looked up at Nucleo. "That was a fun night~! What about you? What do you do for fun, Nucleooo?"

"Well, I-" Nucleo started to object when Frossa insulted his refreshments but then held his tongue, realizing that maybe he shouldn't bring up his coffeeshop business. As much as his pride as a barista was being hurt, she was right that his mooncake had been horrible. And did he want such a nerve-wracking troll coming to see the place and then hating it? Uncertain, the greenblood didn't have time to brood on this for long as she answered his question. The one that he immediately regretted.
"What?" They burnt down buildings. For fun. Accidentally. And then with a casual impish smile, she'd already moved on like it'd been nothing. Just who was this troll really? He was intrigued and scared at the same time.
"I like movies. And exploring the forest." He was so off-balance that he answered honestly, unable to think of a good lie to pacify her. Her grip on him was tight and he struggled to keep up with her pace, despite the fact his legs were longer. As her animated curls bounced, Nucleo watched her as if she were a character from one of his soap dramas. She was perfect.
"I-" He struggled with what to say while his mind flashed confusing messages. Perfect for what? Who was her friend again? What had he gotten himself into? "-also like collecting cool knick knacks and things."
Was he trying to look cool to keep her attention or lame so she'd lose interest in him? He didn't know what he was doing anymore.
"What about you? Besides parties." Arson couldn't be her only hobby, right?

"Oo~h!" Frossa would have clapped her hands together joyously, but with one hand busied keeping Nucleo in her grasp, she instead slapped his shoulder repeatedly in her enthusiasm. "I simply love the forest," she chirped, cupping her free hand to a freckled cheek. "I live right beside one! It's so charming, isn't it~? With all the flowers and plantlife- simply delightful there when everything is in bloom." Letting out another healthy giggle, it seemed like she barely even had to inhale. Frossa reached up and sprawled out her fingers to illustrate as she spoke. "There's nothing quite like how moonlight filters through the treetops, don't you agree? It must be how seadwellers feel, or something! And of course, there's nothing like hearing screams echoing through the trees..." she intentionally trailed off, sloooowly turning her head to grin angelically up at Nucleo. "I just ever do so enjoy the criminal hunts in the Fronds! You should join me sometime." She squeezed the boy's fingers harder, satisfied only when she felt a light pop.
Without skipping a beat, Frossa continued, still scanning the crowd for Alifax. "Ooh, I'm a collector of sorts myself, actually!" Hippodad accused her of being a hoarder, but was there really a difference besides meticulous organization? She didn't have the patience for that. "You can see when you come over to play in the forest! Of course, then I'll have to visit you and see your collections." Another fit of giggles. A greenblood probably had something worthwhile to nab.
"What else, what else, let's see, goodness... I do enjoy FLARPing quite a bit! I spent quite a bit of time on that- I run a league with Alifax. It's terribly hard to find a decent clouder nowadays, siiiigh. I suppose that's really about it, though," she threw her head back and batted her eyelashes. "Funny how we have so much in common, hmmmm?" Douteii sorry for the wait! <3 i figure they can spot alifarts in one of the next posts and we can wrap it up soon. :3
