Math class was officially over, and Wednesday couldn't help but feel way more relieved. Numbers never really made sense to Wednesday, but they understood they served a purpose. They hoped, one day, that they would get better in mathematics, but today was not this day. The quick 10 question quiz they had to do left Wednesday feeling a little defeated. They hadn't gotten any of the questions even remotely right, but they knew they should have been so simple. Huffing quietly to xerself, Wednesday crumpled up the sheet of paper in their hand, crushing it in their small fist. Maybe if they were lucky they could locate themselves a tutor, but for now, Wednesday wanted to find out if she just asked for extra help from the teacher maybe they could improve their grades without the support of an elder student. Wednesday didn't exactly want to be known as someone who needed special attention in any subject, so they would do all they could to conquer this issues and resolve it once and for all. The hybrid tossed the ball of paper across the room, trying to throw it in to the trash can and not looking to see if it went in or missed entirely, grabbing the pencils off their desk that they had organized by length. Next was the erasers, the notebooks, and lastly their ore calculator. Neatly Wednesday packed everything in to her bag, only to give it a violent shake before zipping it shut and tossing their bag on to the table with yet another huff. Today was not their day.

Everything about school was exciting, mostly because he was not at the Academy as long or as often as his peers. Even Math wasn't so bad, and he enjoyed being able to go home and share what he had learned for the day with his mother. Caper was minding himself and picking up quietly when Wednesday's antics very quickly caught his attention. He frowned the slightest, clutching the edge of his small backpack. Why were they so upset?
Slipping out of his chair, the young Geist walked on his toes as he approached. Caper's eyes were wider than usual and he tugged at his hair briefly. "Ah," he exhaled, eyes still wide. Wednesday was so very glowy, and he watched the soft tendrils float away from their body. He raised an arm to compare, smiling a bit to himself before returning his attention to the other's plight. "A-are you okay?" His gaze shifted the slightest. "You might break your pencils!"

"Math!" Wednesday scoffed as they half-shouted, throwing their hands up in the air as they dropped their bag on to their desk. She didn't know what voice was talking to them, whether it was male or female, or even if it was in her head or not. But Wednesday was going to answer it as if it was already inside her head and knew everything about her. "Math -- why does it have to be so hard? I should know this stuff. I should know how to do these simple equations. We've done them time and time again in class. We've spent weeks on this type of math and number crunching and yet I still failed every single question on that STUPID test!" WHAMP! Wednesday gave a kick to their desk leg and kick the whole table forward, scrapping across the floor as they heaved a sigh. Finally, as if acknowledging the voice had been outside their head, Wednesday's eyes darted sidelong, finally locking the boy in her heart-shaped gaze. "Oh." she said quietly. "Pencils? They are not my concern ... grades are. But I suppose there is always way to improve that, and there's still some time to get my scores up. I just need to focus. Put in the extra effort."The hybrid's shoulders sagged a bit. reaching forward to grab their bag once more, grabbing the bottom with their balled fists and tugging it in close to their body. "I just don't want some Junior or Senior babying me because I'm a slow learner ... fuh!" Wednesday almost caught herself spitting at the very idea, but stopped herself considering a) she was inside, and b) she was around other people.

Caper gasped, leaning forward and placing his hands down on the desk to stabilize it. What was going on?! Wide his eyes wide as ever, the Geist dipped his chin as he listened to Wednesday's rant. "W-Well," he stammered, very unsure. Evan had taught him to be nice to the things he owned and though it was nearly all accidents, you didn't get new things if you broke it intentionally. "You need your pencils to complete your tests? That would be a silly way to fail."
Caper pattered a few steps after the hybrid. "The juniors and seniors are really nice," he tried to reason, attempting to improve the other's mood. "I, ah, don't have one but some of them call them big siblings because they do more than help with your homework!" He put on a semi-forced smile, trying to be encouraging. "And uhm, why have only one teacher when you can have many teachers? Teachers are very nice." Caper tilted his head, patting down his patch of long locks. "It doesn't mean you're slow."

Wednesday looked up at Caper, lips thinning in to a small line, making her look a little older than her young freshlings years. She had a look of reluctance on her face, as if not easily able to accept his words and logic while her hazey rage blanketed her thoughts. But it did make sense, and she couldn't exactly argue any point of what he had to say. Giving a hefty sigh, Wednesday strapped her bag on to her shoulders. "Yaaah ... " she said quietly, her voice dropping low in town as she calmed and settled. "I suppose you're right. It's just ... frustrating that I need the extra help. I should just be able to do it on my own, yunno? Be self-sufficient and all that."The hybrid glanced up once more, realizing Caper had basically caught her desk that she had swiftly booted with her foot. Man, she felt like such an idiot for her display. "Sorry about that," she apologized as she made her way over to him, just as he did. "I get a little carried away sometimes when I'm mad ... are you okay? Did it hit you?"

He shook his head a bit more wildly than necessary. "You didn't hit me," Caper assured, lifting a hand and dropping it at his side. See? He was completely fine. He smiled the faintest accepting the apology. "If it makes you feel better, I always get some wrong when I do math." He hummed a little, pushing in Wednesday's chair properly.
He looked back the hybrid, lifting up his arm. Caper glanced between them, seeming suddenly a little unsure. "Your glowy like me," the Freshling informed, taking a step closer to stand beside Wednesday. "But you have wings." His words had a curiosity to them, but he stated it rather matter of fact. "Why?" Maybe he did know. He had met hybrids before, but Korvau only had a tail that was a little different than everyone else. Had he met others like him who simply had wings. "Your ears are fluffy too," he giggled quietly, amused as he only commented on the native differences between them and not their mutations. "My momma has fluffy ears but not like yours."

Wednesday couldn't help but smile as the boy tried to change the subject, yet simultaneously soothe her. She had to admit, it was working, and all the anger and frustration she had felt over her failed test slowly slipped away, and Wednesday was back to her usual self. "I'm a hybrid." Wednesday answered simply. "Part fallen, part demon ... and part Geist." she said, lifting her arms. "That's why I have glowy pieces, like you, and feathery, fluffy bits too! But also why I have horns." Wednesday gestured to the little ghostly stubs on her forehead. "What sort of ears does your mom have if they're not like mine? A grimm? An imp? What other races have fluffy ears? Am I forgetting any?"

Caper guided them towards the door, only because the classes were changing over and he didn't need them to get in trouble with caretakers for dawdling. He seemed pleased though, nodding a long with Wednesday's words. "That's a lot of parts," the Geist informed, clutching his small bag of school supplies tight so they would not get left behind. A hybrid though. He was glad his assumption had at least been partly right.
"I don't know all the races with fluffy ears," the boy admitted, reaching up to rub his own. "But uhm, my Mom is an Imp." He smiled wide, thinking to her fluffy tail in particular. It was always his favorite to cuddle, holding it tight while he listened to her stories or waited with her at the store. She never seemed to mind. "I like your ears too though," Caper had to mention for good measure, trying to be polite.
He stuck out his arm ever the slightest, a bit curious of what happened if their glowy bits touched. It was really nothing, the two colors forming a faint purple of sorts where they intersected. Caper just smiled wider, a hand coming up to cover his mouth the slightest.

Wednesday nodded her head thoughtfully. It was true, she was made up of a lot of different parts. It made her feel rather ... complex. Was that the reason why at times she had such a hot temper? Because all the different pieces of herself were at war and clashing with one another? Was it nature or nurture? Wednesday was at a loss when it came to truly knowing herself. Caper seemed so gentle in comparison to her. Fleetingly, Wednesday realized that Caper might very well be someone she ought to keep around. If for no other reason than to balance her out ... and, well. He was kind of nice. He made her think about her words which she rarely ever did. Caper was like the sugar in her coffee, sweetening the bitterness. It felt a bit odd to think that way, considering she had just met the boy a few short moments ago. But she enjoyed his company. "Neither do I," she admitted with a very short, breath laugh deep in her throat, as if she wasn't entirely sure how to laugh. "That's kind of cool. I can only assume my parents were some mix of my races ... I never got to meet them."Wednesday perked a little at the boy's compliment, wiggling her little feathered ears at him. Normally ears didn't have much in the way of mobility, but her hybrid genes had altered them a little. In truth, they were demon ears that looked just like Fallen ears, coated in feathery, downy-soft fluff. It was her one attribute she was rather fond of. The girl recognized she was a lot to look at. Not only was she a serious hybrid, but she was also a mutant with noticeably large, heart-shaped irises. Wednesday had come to accept this. Her sister Friday had woken at a different time than she had, and so she herself was not a mutant. It was odd, to look like twins with someone and yet be so entirely different. She gave a small shake of her head and returned her attentions to the boy walking beside her. "So what class are you off to now?" she asked curiously. Wednesday didn't actually know what classes her and Caper shared. This was the first time she had ever noticed the boy. It made her wonder momentarily who else she was overlooking ... the geist seemed like such a shy little gem.

"Oh," escaped him softly. He actually didn't get to meet many yet who did not have parents, but that did not mean they were rare or something. Plenty of his peers were awoken here at the Academy. He pattered along side her, eyes still focused on her brightly colored ears as she gave them a little wiggle. Caper smiled softly yet, moving a hand to flop his long hair to the other side.
"I have Science next," the boy informed, looking ahead of them in order to keep from running into any one in the hallway. A few of the caretakers ushered them about, but there was enough time no one was in a hurry as long as they did not get up to play. "I think, ah, we're learning about plants next." Hmm, he liked plants. Caper's mother had quite a few of them around the apartment, but following Wednesday's earlier revelation she was from the cache, he kept that tidbit to himself. "I like more than math," the Geist decided on.

Wednesday couldn't help but smile a little. "I like plants ..." she said almost timidly. Maybe she shouldn't have brought up not knowing her parents. She did have a sister, but ... people seemed to get a little awkward. Wednesday had heard that not too long ago just about everyone was an orphan, sprung forth from the cache. Wednesday was just another one of those orphans in a long line of many to come. She had heard there were countless stones still waiting to be woken up. Wednesday didn't know what she wanted to be when she grew up yet, but she did know that she would rather adopt someone like her when she got older than have kids of her own. Unless she really loved someone, it just didn't really feel right, and right now, in her youth, she just didn't comprehend the concept of romance. "I like creeping vines and wisteria ... I find them quite lovely. What about you? Which are some of your favourites?"

Oh, so Wednesday had sat through the same classes too! This pleased him, bringing up a sleeve covered fist to his lips briefly. "I wrote a thing on Baby's Breath," the Geist informed a bit proudly, always infatuated with how such an odd name was used for a plant. It was why he had originally investigated it for the class, having picked it out of the primer. It did not sound as nearly gross as smelling someone's breath did.
"It's a little white flower," he explained. "And the leaves aren't really pretty. But a lot of people put it with other flowers when they make pretty gifts." Caper thought for a long moment at the hybrid's response, shifting a bit closer as he dodged a group that had formed in the hallway to discuss something or another. "Don't vines... trip people?" He wasn't entirely sure what was so lovely about that, and it wasn't something he thought he would ever present to his mom.

Wednesday couldn't help but not her head along with a slight giggle. "Yes! I have seen baby's breath! Such an odd name! I wonder if that's what a baby's breath looks like during the winter when they're outside and cold! I know my breath goes white in the colder months ...
"What did you write about it?" Wednesday peered at him curiously. She wasn't expecting him to present his whole paper to her right now, but she was curious if he had written what he loved about the plant, or just facts and odd info on the subject. "They can, I suppose!" Wednesday nodded as she folded her arms over her chest in thought. But the ones I'm thinking off are thin and really curly! They couldn't hurt a fly."

Caper couldn't help but smile a little at the thought. He knew a lot about other Freshlings, but he had yet to meet a lot of infants. "I don't think they're supposed to go outside when it's really cold," he settled on, determining that was a mystery science may never actually solver. The idea still made him beam though and he ducked his head a little, suddenly feeling shy. "I said it's really pretty," the Geist offered, keep close to the hybrid as they moved through the hallway. "I don't know much else about plants yet, but I really want to one day," he informed happily, moving to push his long locks out of his face as they had fallen forward. He hummed a little though, considering Wednesday's words.
"If you say so," Caper decided with a soft smile, not looking so fearful of the mention of vines now. He always thought of creepy jungles, or the backyard of the Academy, but if this friendly winged Geist said they were cool, then so be it. "Flies are kind of thin and little too though," he countered, a hand going up to his chin in thought. Flies were really fast though, so maybe they could be safe? Hmm, yes.
Suddenly his attention was drawn away, an elbow catching him in the back as the sea of students began to move once more. "I need to go to class!" Caper reminded a bit hurriedly, still clutching his books close. He opened his mouth but then immediately closed it, violet eyes going wide with a quiet panic. "I don't know your name to say bye," he admitted a bit sheepishly.
