Personality:
Eresin is quiet around strangers. Most of the time he keeps to himself unless he's around people he knows and trusts, which is very few due to his seemingly prickly exterior. His quietness often shoves people away, and he isn't the first to voice his opinion so things that he wants to say often get shoved under the carpet. When people get to know him, his true colors show. Deep down, he's a really goofy and carefree guy.
Unfortunately his introverted nature makes him seem very aloof and in fact he tends to prefer his solitude to the company of others. Eresin would much rather spend time away from others in favor of doing things on his own, especially when studying magical arts. It’s not that he hates being around others, but being social drains him physically and he finds it much easier to observe from afar rather than participate.
When it comes down to friends and loved ones, he is loving and tries to help whenever he can, making him a great companion for the long road. This sensitivity helps him to connect and to cherish those that he does have, but at the same time helps keep him distant. He is too afraid after all of getting close to another only to lose them.
He is sensitive to the world around him and often can pick up on many things that others cannot. (Especially when it comes to true natures Eresin tends to always be a great judge of character and can often pick up on people's hidden motives.) This sensitivity often can lead him to be wary of disasters and major events occurring in the world as he can feel the slight disturbances almost like a premonition. In a way that explains his love of magic, because it is something that he can easily work with, as someone who often thinks outside of the box. To him it is a puzzle to be solved while his body naturally has a talent for it.
Description: Eresin has pale blue skin, almond shaped gold eyes and straight black hair tied in a ponytail (down the middle of his shoulder blades). His expression is usually neutral and indifferent. Body wise he is long and lean, much more slender than muscular.
Clothing: Often he is in elegant clothing that is deep blue in color with fur trim. Often he will also have a fur trim cloak with a gold clasp on his shoulder. (Mostly up to the colorist, can feel free to reference this image for a general idea)
Accessories: A single gold earring elegantly designed in a bird shape (design similar to this as a loop earring - x).
History:
Eresin comes from a merchant family who is fairly wealthy. However, in their quest to continue the trade and to keep the stocks flowing his family tends to become preoccupied with work. Both of his parents have a kind nature, but tend to be work-a-holics so as a child Eresin was often accidentally ignored and left to raise himself. Often he would find himself alone and contemplative, always curious and learning more about the world around him while his parents bartered their general goods. This perhaps better explains why he is so accustomed to being more of a loner since that was how he was raised. He adapted to taking care of himself for the most part while his parents worked in and out of Zena. And when he was younger they would either take him along with them on their trips or leave him in the care of his uncle, Nerio.
It was those weeks when he was alone with his uncle that Eresin loved the most. Unlike his parents who were rational, down to earth people Eresin’s uncle enjoyed living life in a variety of ways. A mage by trade his uncle often would demonstrate his knowledge of the arcane to his nephew and would always tell him stories of his younger years when he traveled all across Zena and even into foreign lands. It may have been a few stretches of the truth here and there to liven up his tales, but Eresin never minded. He loved his uncle and even when Eresin grew older, away from the innocent eyed child he had been, the boy would let his uncle get away with such tales. In a way listening to his uncle’s stories and wisdom was comforting and built a strong bond between the two. Not only that, but Eresin also picked up a love of magic from his uncle that would later be reflected in his own personal talents.
His parents may have been away and busy, but that did not mean they never thought of their child. Rather they cared for him so much that they often brought him home trinkets from their travels. One year it would be a special fruit then the next trip it could be a special piece of material turned into a cloak for him or even the next would be an earring that his mother thought looked lovely for him. It was when Eresin mentioned his uncles stories about Kimfas and how interesting they were to him that his mother took it to heart. Their next trip the merchants came back with a lime green baby kimfa with lavender accents and brilliant blue eyes named Peco. In their place, Peco became a family of sorts to him while he was alone and neither the boy nor kimfa leave each other’s side for long.
Recently his uncle left on some new magical quest while Eresin was left to travel again with his parents. Now that he is older his parents wish to bring him along with him more as they continue to travel across Tendaji with their merchant caravan. While he loves and cherishes his parents Eresin secretly would like to find out about his uncle’s newest whereabouts so that he can meet up with him and learn more about the arcane arts. After all only his uncle truly appreciates magic, and while his parents do not shun mages they would much rather Eresin learn about their trade instead.
He, however, is working on the courage to tell them that what he truly wants may not be in their current interests…
