Why was she here again? Ah well Elysha knew why, but at the moment she was finding it hard to believe that she actually pushed through with these plans. But again her mind shifted from one frame of mind to the other. She is happy to help her dear younger cousin. She asked for her help and Elysha did want to assist but admittedly was finding the sight of the books in front of her intimidating at present. She gave her head a mental shake, her two cousins are like sisters to her. Her younger cousin did not ask for help often either. They lived in another city, but one of them did say they are looking into moving here to Destiny City as well. Right now, they all kept in touch via the world wide web, thank goodness for technology's pros. But back to the matter at hand, she needed to learn about Egypt and share the gathered information with her cousin if they may be of aid for a school research project. "Hmm, where should I start to learn about Egypt?" Elysha, now here in a library of Destiny City pacing back and forth in front of a large case with at least two rows of books about Egypt, did not realize she had voiced the question out loud, but it was a good thing her voice was of a reasonable volume when it was said.

Drew was at the Library again, searching for articles on his sister - what was this? His 15th session on the computer? He had to be close to a lead. He was was here day and night, when he wasn't going to school, doing homework, fighting negas, and getting a few Z's in. He leaned and squinted at the screen, Motorcycle Wreak On 49th. Man he needed a break. "Hmm, where should I start to learn about Egypt?" The girl on the next computer asked herself. That was his department - great topic for a break too! "Hey, you need help with that? I know a lot about Egypt! I need a break anyways."

Elysha had turned around to face away from the bookshelf while right about to retrace her steps in the other direction for the nth time in her pacing. But then she spotted the computers beside said shelf and swiped one mouse at the computer in front of her next to its keyboard while inwardly thinking if perhaps scrolling through webpages might give her an idea of where to start. When she seated herself as though on autopilot in front of that computer to further consider the idea, she was pulled out of her thoughts by being addressed by her neighbor. "Oh, um, h-hello," she waved a polite greeting smilingly before going on to say, "I-I hope I didn't disturb you and I'm sorry if so. Um, and thank you very much for your offer to help me while you take a break. I'm trying to help my younger cousin with her project on Egypt by gathering information to share with her. And well, um, may I ask if you may please tell me any facts about Egypt's history from any point in time you are free to select to tell me about?" She opened the notebook she had placed on the computer table's surface as she spoke and readied her pen to write down information given in hopes to not take away too much of her kind neighbor's break time.

Drew grinned. "I need to take a break from my search anyways. Now let's see, Egypt's History is divided into 3 sections - the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom and the New Kingdom. Each was vastly different and yet linked. Is there a particular one, that you are looking for?" He scratched his chin.

She clicked the pen's spring button with the thumb of a somewhat fumbling hand with her initial nervousness so as to write with it, but realized as she put the pen to paper that she actually dismissed the writing end. But with one more click of the spring button, she was then able to begin writing. "Um, okay, it was divided into the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms," Elysha repeated softly as she wrote. She then took a second to pause and think of her next query and then requested, "Um, I think my cousin is researching Egypt as a whole. May you please explain the ways that the three kingdoms are different yet linked together?"

Drew bit his lip. This might take a while. "The Old Kingdom was united under King Menes, and lasted from 2686 BC, to 2181 BC. The Middle Kingdom was united under King Mentuhotep and lasted from 2055 BC to 1650 BC. The New Kingdom was united under Pharaoh Ahmose I and lasted from 1550 BC to 1070 BC. As you can see, these weren't actually separate geographic kingdoms, but periods in time." Drew started. He wondered how he knew all this.

After a few added seconds of scribbling that continued after the answer was spoken to her, Elysha's eyes scanned what she noted down while attempting to recall more of what her cousin had asked her help with gatherinng information about. "Um, for an idea of what life was like throughout Egypt's history, may I next ask for a description of the economy throughout the years, such as if Egypt engaged in trade, what goods they imported and exported, what sorts of works did they craft and create?"

Drew sighed inwardly. Egypt's Economy, so much information. "Egypt was mainly an agricultural society and was quite wealthy due to the fact that their crops were usually much abundant that their neighbors. They had no real money system and used mainly bartering. "Their main crops were Wheat, Barley, Lettuce, Beans, Onions, Figs, Dates, Grapes, Melons, Cucumbers, and Flax, which would be made into linen. "Do you have that so far?" He waited for her to answer, then went on. "Crafts, from small shops, included linen textiles, pottery, bricks, tools, glass, weapons, furniture, jewelry, perfume, ropes, baskets, mats, and writing materials. "Furthermore, Egypt had substantial mineral outputs: limestone, sandstone, granite, copper, gold, tin, and gems. "Imports included; Silver, Iron, Cedar Logs, Horses, Ivory, Copper, Cattle, Leopard Skins, and Spices. Exports included: Gold and other Minerals, Wheat, Barley, and Papyrus Sheets." Drew stopped and took a breath. "Whew, I think that covered that set of questions. Any more?" He grinned.

Elysha looked up from her notes and gave a nod to confirm that she was following along while carefully listening to and writing in quick paraphrases what answers she was provided with to her given query. And when asked a question again, this time with regards to if she had more to ask, she responded, "U-um, and may you please describe the Egyptian culture, such as perhaps what form of alphabet was opted for, what means did they have for keeping track of the days and time, what laws were like, and what religious beliefs were followed?"

Drew's eyes lit up: Hieroglyphics were not just his specialty but his Sphere. He knew so much about them. He smiled and started. "Egyptian writing began as Hieroglyphics - a picture form. There are over 2000 Hieroglyphs and Hieroglyhics in the Egyptian Language; some for letters, (mainly consonants), root words, sounds, words and for phrases. Usually, they also represent a person, idea, or object. Combining these hieroglyphs could create more words called Hieroglyphics. I love this topics, but we need to move on. "Keeping time was done in a variety of ways, including water clocks, sun dials, obelisks, certain techniques for studying the night sky, and two different calendars, the Civil and the Religious that only met up every 1460 years or so." He stopped to look at the time. My word, he thought. Is it that time already? "There's a lot of information there. "As for the laws, there was one big one that covers both law and religion: Ma'at. Difficult to completely translate - Balance, Honor, Duty, Justice, Courage - but also the world being in balance; the Sun rising and setting each day, the Nile flooding at the beginning each year. I couldn't fully explain it if I had a millennium. And as for the religious fact, they had over 700 deities that they worshiped." He looked at the clock again. "I'm terribly sorry to rush this, but we need to go - the Library is closing in about three minutes." shyanimegrl So sorry that this tag is late, forgot that it was my turn to post. Time to wrap up?

Here and there, Elysha gave an alert nod as she wrote further notes. Then when the time was mentioned, her eyes widened in realization that she had forgotten to keep track of the time. She took in a small, quiet but sudden breath in surprise when she glanced at her watch and confirmed that indeed it was just a few minutes before the library's closing time. And with the on the whole seemingly quick quality of everything, she responded in acknowledgement along with her movements transitioning to packing up her things, "I-I, y-yes, I understand." And as she went on to express her sincere appreciation, she stood from her seat as well in attempting not to keep the kind individual from the rest of his day even longer, "Thank y-you so much for t-the time you've t-taken to h-help me." Sailor Hawk ^u^ It's certainly alright! /thumbs up! 8 D <3 This RP of ours is now complete! Thank you so much!
