OOC
Who are in teh House of Horrors?! Danirate and Alpinely, they're in teh House of Horrors!! @u@ Ahaha this is shy reminding shy to post these forms later in the appropriate thread:

Student Name: Danirate Levinski
Current Grade: Y1
Upgrade Requirements: Journal
Examiner Preference: Auto

Student Name: Alpinely Everite
Current Grade: Y1
Upgrade Requirements: Journal
Examiner Preference: Auto

Y1-> Y2 EXAM STUDENTS ONLY

Welcome to the official Y1 > Y2 EXAM DUNGEON

An exam is necessary to pass from Y1 to Y2 but the exam can either be this self-run dungeon, or you may post for an NPC run exam here if you would prefer NPC interaction! Whichever you choose is up to you, but you must complete at least one in order to grow / post for growth art!

  • This exam can be taken either solo or with a friend or two!
  • This exam is taken entirely at your own pace! You can take a day, a month, a year, whatever you want!
  • Have fun with it! This is meant to be a good opportunity to delve a little into your character!
  • You can only do this exam if you have met the necessary RP requirements. This is not a take-anytime-and-use-later dungeon!
  • You do not need to pass this exam, you just need to complete it (and meet the 800 word count requirement) for it to count!
  • You must still post for your exam here; just note that you are doing the exam dungeon!
  • GMs will still check to make sure you've completed your reqs, so make sure you've got everything ready!

Again, an exam for passing onto the next year is mandatory, but now you have the option of doing a self-run dungeon or requesting an NPC run exam! Best of luck to you all!

THE EXAM: HOUSE OF HORRORS (Y1 > Y2)

Each student ready to move from the first year to the second would find a nice, neatly printed letter taped to their door inviting them to participate in a "Non-Mandatory-But-Highly-Recommended-Anyway Test" (or NMBHRAT for short). A location was provided at the bottom of the note (a section of the grounds, just near the forest), and beneath that the words "Come at anytime."

Upon arrival, you would first notice that a peculiar house has been erected. It's not large enough to overshadow any of the dorms by any means; in fact, it seems rather tiny and shabby in comparison, with the door half stripped of its paint, the windows cracked and smeared with dust, and everything looks as though the merest touch will make it collapse.

At first you wonder if you're in the right place at all, but then you notice a little box sitting just outside of the house. Closer examination would reveal a note, written in a loopy handwriting perhaps familiar to some:

Welcome welcome to the House
Please be quiet as a mouse
The House will tell if you are good
The House will tell if you are bad

Think you're up to face the thing?
If you pass it, all will sing
Do your best, oh fair student
I hope your deaths you do circumvent

THE EXAM
THE HOUSE OF HORRORS

The smell is what gets your attention first; like smoke and old wood, it wafts across the air towards you, enticing you onward, pulling you forward, and you reach the little shabby house and the door half hanging off its hinges, practically begging you to come inside.

A sign posted outside reads "Welcome to the House."

At first, you're mildly concerned but upon knocking stepping inside, you realize that the house in question appears deserted.

Well, that's just creepy. But trying to go backwards only results in failure - the door has locked behind you. You're trapped inside, and now you must figure out how to get through the house in order to continue on your quest.

--------------------------------------------

TO GET THROUGH THE HOUSE:

There are THREE MAJOR ROOMS to the House of Horrors. In order to successfully pass through the House and receive your exam credit, you must navigate through all three rooms until you reach the exit, located after the very last room:

  • Cutthroat Kitchen

To get through the Cutthroat Kitchen, you need 10 steps. Roll 1d4 and add up the amount of steps you take (i.e. you roll a 3, that's 3 steps forward). You must get at least 10 steps. If you go over ten, that's fine, as long as it's at least 10.

Each number of steps rolled has it's own consequence:
1 - You open a door in the kitchen looking for the exit and promptly find yourself dunked by a bucket of icy water. Who left that there?
2 - You trip and fall into a vat of what looks like melted chocolate.
3 - You step in a pile of what looks like sticky glue on the floor and therefore get it stuck on the bottom of your foot/shoe for the rest of your trek through the House.
4 - For some reason, there is an entire bin of tiny bones that you somehow manage to knock over, which, of course, makes a terribly loud sound.

  • Lurking Library

In order to get through the Library, you'll have to find the right combination of books in order to find the combination. Roll 3d6, and follow the guidelines below:

      - 1,1 OR 2,2 as two of the numbers - Looks like you've found some sort of...oops better put that back quickly before a certain cranky Librarian sees you looking at por - (try again)
      - 3,3 OR 4,4 OR 5,5 OR 6,6 as two of the numbers - You pull out a book, and then another, and to your relief you see that the door beyond swings open for you to slip through! (success)
      - 1,2,3 (doesn't have to be in order) - Somehow you get entangled in what looks like a long rope made of paper and spend several moments trying to break your way free, when you notice that in the process you've actually fallen out the door into the next room. How convenient! (success)
      - 6,6,6 Is that a giant spi - quick run for it - (start back in the first room)
      - 1,1,1 You try climbing a bookshelf, rather than pull books trying to find the secret switch, and wind up tumbling over the side rather ungracefully. But hey, look, the...nope, just a shadow (try again)

  • Bloodcurdling Bedroom

The Bloodcurdling Bedroom requires only one thing - picking the lock successfully to get through the door on the other side. Roll 1d100. You must get above a 65 to have successfully picked the lock. If you roll below, then your attempts were unsuccessful and you have to keep on truckin'.

Upon their exit from the house, a certain mischievous Trick or Treater can be found lounging in a tree on the other side, looking as happy as a pig in mud. He smiles down at you, his grin terribly self-satisfied, and tosses you a rolled up piece of parchment. Opening it, you see a certificate of Exam Completion.

"Congratulations," he says brightly, and flashes you a wink. "You're now a Knob."

((I is gonna paste in stuffies here @u@ ahaha))

Dan (241 words)

Danirate faced the building before him with his arms crossed in front of him. His expression was overall his usual one, an easy smile that was perhaps barely passable by definition since it was made up with simply the lightly upturned ends of his mouth. The extremely worn down condition of the house he was supposedly intended to have entered by now was surveyed by the vampire boil with a critical eye yet any furrowed brows was in fact absent from his face. Would he enter this house now? Or would he come back to venture inside it another time? According to Danirate's discretion, it was a matter of whether or not he felt like proceeding into the doorway serving as the entrance or away from this place at least for now. So far, he was at this point more likely to get this experience over and done with today, to put it behind him, to add it into his gathered experiences so far here at Amityville. But he was not one to rush anything by any time set apart from by his own liking usually. And so, it is when he is good and ready that he would walk forward. There really was not anything hindering him or pressuring him, it was just that Danirate moved when he felt like it and right now he was not inclined to budge but presently to simply stand where he was standing currently.

Ali (314 words)

Alpinely received a peculiar letter! It fascinated her! It struck her as totally spooktacular! In fact, after she received it, she delightedly burst into her dorm room with it clutched in her grasp as she declared to the minis in her room what news she had just received, Except, there was no response to her enthusiasm. Said minis may have been napping while hidden among her things and furniture. Likely her exclamation had awoken any who were and now more accurately had been asleep but the fact remained unchanged that in comparison to her hyperactivity exploding all over her dorm space, the rest of her room was far calmer. But of course, Ali being Ali, the vampire ghoul did not notice the lack or reaction she received, scratch that just previous word for further correction for added or no difference in accuracy, she had not received. Ali continued to going into detail as she went about spreading the news of the spooktacularness while alternatingly in turns addressing the names of her mini friends that were supposedly still somewhere in the room though still out of sight.

And while she was at it, she was tossing items of her belongings this way and that. Perhaps she was attempting to prepare for the outing she was relaying to her hidden friends. But she had actually and really ended up leaving her dorm room to head to the location without bringing anything with her anyway. And now here she was. And there immediately upon arrival, did she spot Danirate present in the location as well. She grinned widely. Danirate did not seem to have noticed her presence yet and as she sneaked up closer to him, she had not intention of being noticed until it was too late for him to escape, evade, etcetc.

"Dan!" Alpinely tackled him and held on, yes she did not let go.

Dan (246 words)

His eyes widened in surprise at the fact that he had been unable to evade the attack. He had a feeling he had become first rather than lone presence in the area, that he was not alone. But he had suspected late and then reacted too late despite just barely missing the opportunity to avoid being abruptly tackled. His head had been quick to turn though and take in the perpetrator. His widened gaze appeared and dissipated swiftly on both counts as he donned his facade of unaffected calm invisibly labeled for use with none other than the beyond bizarre vampire ghoul that is Alpinely Everite. What did she just call him? It was not the first time he had been called that nickname. Members of his family clan had called him the nickname more times than he cared to keep track of. But never had he expected Alpinely to call him by that nickname or any nickname for that matter ever. "Ali," Danirate uttered in monotone. What do you think you're doing? No, Danirate was not going to risk hearing the odd and the just odd to indescribable degree explanation the vampire ghoul might being brewing in her questionable mind. And though he called her by a nickname as well, it was simply because he did not want to add anymore second than necessary in addressing her. Rather than continue to speak, the vampire boil opted to begin attempting to free himself from Ali's hold.

Ali (91 words)

"Hiiiiiii, Dan," Ali beamed as though oblivious to Danirate's attempts to distance himself from her.

She also was seemingly unaware that no longer were they for the most part standing in place but now veering over to one side in a shuffle of feet and flurry of turns. She chuckled cheerfully, the dizziness buzzing in her head. And then she decidedly let go of her victim, which was promptly followed by her starting to fall over after stepping back and tripping off balance due to a medium sized boulder behind her.

Dan (194 words)

Stop, don't use that nickname to address me, Ali. The words did not leave his mouth because there was every possibility that Ali would be further encouraged to go against his request if previous experiences were any indication of such a likelihood potentially coming to pass.

He let out the breath he did not realize he had been holding in when Ali finally let go. It had not completely dimmed in his focus that they were going off to one side a ways from where they had collided initially and began their awkward match against each other. But his body's reflexes betrayed him next. At the sight of the vampire ghoul falling backward, a part of him thought to let her fall but apparently a hidden part of him conspired with his reflexive actions and reached out to grab Ali by one arm and then the other to keep her upright. He let go immediately after she appeared to be able to take over from there in keeping her balance and turned around a complete one hundred and eighty degrees to walk away so as to finally begin the examination of the house ahead.

Ali (131 words)

"H-hey," Ali took hold of Danirate's cape and pulled. She held in a sigh of relief she was surprised to be about to let out that the vampire boil had missed a hard collision with the tree behind him. Are you okay? Nope, she decided last minute there was no need to ask him that. If Dan was a cookie, then he was a tough one. Therefore, he did not need a thank you either. She inwardly chuckled at the thought that Danirate would probably have a masked grumpiness to his reaction for her having provided an expression of her gratitude verbally if she did. "Are you also gonna take an exam here, Dan?" She then commenced jumping up and down in cheerful bounces while moving to one side of him.

Dan (176 words)

Danirate did not reach up to check on the suddenly sharp but now dulling throb of pain at the edge of the end of his nose where he had nearly hit the tree in front of him with all the force in his stride geared toward leaving this spot. He also did not acknowledge that Ali was still around at this point. However, he did now repeat a calmer effort to leave where he stood by going around the tree despite the fact that he had gone the long way around. Because regardless of the extra steps he took him, the path he now walked was by far of less turmoil that if he had gone the shorter route probably. Danirate's expression was not only like usual but also notably less stiff by the time he entered the house. Even the door closing behind him was now of no shocking influence upon his bearing since he was perhaps becoming more accustomed to the possibilities of constant attempts at shocking him through various means day by day.

Ali (278 words)

This crazy vampire ghoul smiled toothily as she watched the vampire boil go on his way. "Dan and me, our y 1's complete with this, with this, with thiiiiiiis exam!" Ali then sang zealously as she skipped forward towards the house also following the path Danirate took around the tree even. Well, in actuality, she did add several or rather far more correctly multiple or much more precisely eleven turns around the tree before she dizzily zigzagged the rest of the aforementioned path leading to entering the house. And so, this would explain why she and Danirate no longer encountered each other for the duration of their presence in this location. More specifically by the time Ali had circled the tree eleven times as she repeated the melodic chant she created off the top of her head and by the time she had finished stumbling to and fro across the expanse between said tree and said entrance of the house and by the time she had entered the doorway for the door to then close behind her, she stood as a lone presence inside this place of examination. Perhaps the vampire boil had managed to complete the exam by the time she entered the house already. But at this point, Ali's mind was filled entirely with curiosity about this place she has just entered. Her grinning gaze sweeping the visible field of the indoor sights before her could be read as though she was here on her own all along and caught up in her fascination of what spooktacular events await her with further proceeding inside this house as she undergoes the exam she came her to take.

And what happened next? Dan shut his eyes as he was doused with water. Why is it that this house somehow did not manage to surprise him by how it shared similarities with Ali?

By the way the floor under his feet changed in texture again, Danirate assumed he had stepped again on something else or something similar.

Dan (Bloodcurdling Bedroom)

He decided to check if he had anything to utilize before resorting to searching around. When he started by lifting the book he had taken from the library without realizing it, he noticed a clip serving as a bookmark and used it to pick the lock. As for the book, he left it in the house by the door.

By this time he was less soaked and so when he caught the certificate, it stayed dry.

Ali's sweeping gaze in the next room paused at the sight of empty places where she guessed books were supposed to be and had been. And then she herself tried to pull out books next to existing empty spaces to next marvel as a passage presented itself which she took.
