A recent report has stated that the typical wired teen is watching American Idol, doing homework, Googling the name of one of the singers, surfing the net, and chatting with several people, all at one time. And it also stated that this kind of behavior will ultimately harm them in the long run, and ruins the family's ability to talk to each other and spend time together.

So I ask, what do you think of the actions of Generation M? *what they have dubbed them* And does anyone else in here multitask?

I usually am chatting with at least 3 people at once, playing Solitaire, on Myspace, on Gaia, and doing other stuff at the same time...

My cousin Denny is amazed when I'm on the computer. It is funny.

I think with the way things are run today, this is only going to help them when they get into the jobmarket.

People today need to be able to do several things at once just to keep pace with the corporate world

I think that this behavour has a chance of damaging them BUT only if they let it. I spend alot of my home time online doing many of the tasks you listed, yet I still am very close to my family. In fact they are all sick with some powerful cough (choughing from moving and coughing up blood and the like) and I'm the only one strong enough to be taking care of them. (Thank goodness for my strong immunity)

All of life is balance of many things. If your capable of that balance then the internet and such related activities shouldn't be too detrimental.

The art of multi-tasking is a wonderful skill to acquire, but it is up to the individual to maintain their social skills and familial bonds...
