Hobbies: Archery – Makenna goes to an archery range at least three to four times per week for two to three hours per session. She has been practicing archery for several years now and participates in competitions, usually placing in the top tenth percentile. She finds that archery is soothing to her. It helps her focus when she becomes agitated by others or feels harassed. It takes her mind off of daily troubles.
Tai Chi – Makenna has been practicing Tai Chi since she was a child. For her, Tai Chi is a form of kinesthetic meditation and it helps her relax and center herself. She attends a dojo regularly and has attended that same dojo for the entirety of her Tai Chi career. Unlike with archery, she does not attend tournaments or competitions for Tai Chi, though her dojo and instructors often ask.
Cooking – Makenna doesn’t seem like it on the outside, but she is a fantastic cook. She cooks all of her own meals as well as the meals for her family. Her mother and father both maintain full time jobs so it is up to her to make the meals for everyone, including her little brother. She found out early on that she actually enjoys the task and experimenting with different ingredients to make better meals.
Virtues: Patient – Makenna shows phenomenal patience in her daily life. Though she attends St-Magdalena's Seminary, no one is really sure why she is there. She is obedient to the instructors and doesn’t ever
pick the fights she is in. She just finishes them. Because of the perception she gives off as disinterested and aloof, other students can’t stand her and go out of their way to figure out ways to jump her. This has helped her develop that calm outer shell and her pacified demeanor that even during an altercation doesn’t crack. It also helps to weird out her opponent who is usually at least marginally disturbed by her lack of emotion. To be fair, that calm, icy exterior could be interpreted as a flaw as well.
Loyal – Makenna is loyal to a T. Though she doesn’t have many friends, those she does have ((or used to have)) as well as her family know that they can depend upon her when things get tough. She is not a fair-weather friend. She never breaks her word once it’s given, one of the reasons she is a girl of few words.
Flaws: Arrogant – Though Makenna doesn’t outwardly
say much, deep deep down, she truly believes that she is higher and better than most of those around her. Especially with the environment she finds herself, surrounded by delinquents who can’t count past their fingers and toes and instructors that latch onto her as a ray of hope in their school ((not actually what is going on but how she perceives it when they ask her to help mentor)). Inwardly, she sneers at the pathetic attempts of life around her. However, this really only applies to those she does not respect ((ie she does not feel arrogance of this caliber towards her friends or family or those she considers allies)).
The internalization of her arrogance is manifested in her quiet nature. She does not talk much because there are not many that are worth speaking to. When she becomes frustrated just from normal everyday interactions, her release is portrayed when she practices one of her three main hobbies. In fact, the reason she practices these three things to the degree that she does it because she has so much frustration over interacting with stupidity, or what she considers stupidity.
Reclusive – Makenna does not intend to be this way, but several factors lead to her being rather standoffish from the rest of her peers. She is not outgoing and will not initiate a conversation if she doesn’t need to. This leads to the unfortunate fact that she misses a lot of opportunities at many things. Actions are different than words and being of few words combined with her icy demeanor, most people leave her alone and she either doesn’t know how to break that curse or is content with the matter.
