For this, our first Halloween, we wanted to do something fairly light and fun. So, we're doing a Trick-Or-Treat and Battle event between the regions!
We've also made several Event Items postable during the event. Your character does not need to be in a Haunted House, or even participating, in order to post for these items. They are post anywhere, and are listed below.
While this event is in effect you may post for: Sweet Hearts = 10 posts Rare Candies = 20 posts Paper Lantern = 35 posts Rage candybars = 35 posts Sweet Incense = 35 posts
Please note, though, that Pickup does not effect the post count for these items. *** Also note that you can post for Area Specific items in the Haunted Houses. Please see below, in the FAQ, for more information : ) ***
As well, each region has been giving a 'Haunted House' attraction in one of their creepier locations. These haunted houses are filled with spooky tours, attractions, and various activities. In order to get to the Haunted Houses, you may travel normally or be teleported. There are various Mediums across the land, trying to help with all the increased activity. Psychics, Hex Maniacs, and others wander around with their pokemon; you may NPC one, and have them teleport you to one of the Haunted Houses.
They may not be used to travel elsewhere, however, you may be teleported back to your original location when you leave the Haunted House. This is purely to make it easier for people to get to the event, and should not be used to travel between other locations.
The Haunted House Locations are: Kanto: Lavender Town Johto: Ecruteak Hoenn: Mt Pyre Sinnoh: Old Chateau Unova: Strange House Kalos: Haunted House
Now, while at the Haunted House, there are a few things you may do. Further explanation is below; if you have any questions, please check the FAQ in the next post. If your answer is not there, or the wording is not clear and you're still confused, please feel free to ask for further explanation in the Questions, Comments, and Concerns thread.
Haunted House Activities There are a few things to do at the Haunted Houses. Along with several different attractions and various locations to explore, you may also Trick-Or-Treat and Battle.

Battling is a bit more complex. There are two types of challenges to choose from.
When your character arrives at a Haunted House, please quote a mod and indicate, in rp context or in the quote, which Challenge your character will be attempting.
They may attempt both challenges, if you want, however, prizes will only be rewarded once a week for one of them. The other is simply for exp.
If your character completes one of the challenges, congratulations! They may receive eight of the food items listed below, and an additional prize.
The additional prize is essentially dependent on how many times your character has completed a Challenge for prizes. The first time you complete one of these challenges you will get an event item of your choice (excluding Balm Mushrooms and Megastones)
The next week, if you complete one of these challenges you will get x2 TMs of choice and a Lucky egg.
The third time you complete one of these challenges you will get one TM of choice, x2 Big Mushrooms, and a hold item of choice.
If you complete a challenge all three weeks, you get a bonus prize of One event item of choice, a paper lantern, x5 rare candies, and a lucky egg.
The two challenge types are:
Normal:
The pokemon will start at level 15, and increase by 5 as you progress through them.
So the first one will be level 15, the next 20, the next 25, and so on.
This must be done consecutively, however, you will be allowed to heal your pokemon after the first 5.
You may use healing items, however, you are only allowed three "regular" potions.
If your first pokemon faints, you may use two more, however, if three of your pokemon faint, the pokemon will flee, and you'll have to restart. We don't want to make the challenges too difficult, but there should still be a challenge.
Mirror Mode:
The pokemon's level will match the pokemon set out against them.
Their HP will also be the same, and the exp gained from them will be whatever their mirrored level falls under. For instance, if the pokemon sent out is level 14, the pokemon will be level 14, and, if defeated, will yield 10 exp.
You do not have to battle them consecutively, however, you also may not switch pokemon DURING a battle.
You may, however, switch pokemon between battles, but keep in mind that if your pokemon faints, you've lost, so choose carefully, and make sure to strategize! To help for those that have lower level pokemon and more limited movesets, we've added in that you will be guaranteed the first move for each battle.
The pokemon you must defeat are:

This means you can't heal your pokemon in the Normal Challenge between pokemon battles unless it's after the 5th pokemon, and you cannot switch a pokemon during a battle in the Mirror Challenge. FAQ New FAQ's are marked red, for the first day they're added, for those that come back to check
Since the dynamics of the event are a little complicated, we've created a FAQ to try and help clarify thing. This will be added to as more questions come up, so be sure to check here if you're confused on something. If your question isn't here, or the answer isn't explained clearly, however, please always feel free to ask in the Questions, Comments, and Concerns thread : )
So what are the main differences between the two challenges?
The primary difference is whether you can heal or switch out your pokemon. The Normal Challenge allows you to switch pokemon during a battle, but you can't heal them between battles without losing a turn. Basically, it's like battling a trainer with 8 pokemon. You do, however, get a break after the first five, and are allowed to heal your pokemon to prepare for the last three.
This is best for trainers with slightly higher level pokemon, but, of course, everyone is allowed to try.
The Mirror Challenge does not allow you to switch pokemon during a battle, but you may heal them between battles. You may also use different pokemon against different opponents. Think of it like battling wild pokemon, except that the wild pokemon has an ability that doesn't allow you to switch (no matter what).
This one is more challenging for higher level pokemon, because the opponents are then higher level, and requires careful selection of who you use.
So what happens if I lose a challenge?
Nothing! You can heal your pokemon at the Haunted House, and simply try again. There's no limit on the number of times you try a challenge, but once you've won, you will be rewarded your prizes, and you won't be able to try for items again until the next week. You may, however, complete the other Challenge for exp
So can I switch pokemon during a Normal Challenge?
Yes. During a Normal Challenge you can switch pokemon while battling the pokemon, or inbetween. You do not have to use the same one throughout.
What happens if one of my pokemon faints during a Normal Challenge?
You can use your next pokemon. If three of your pokemon faint, though, the wild pokemon will flee, and you have to restart. This is so that more pokemon can be used against the stronger opponents, but still requires that a team be properly prepared beforehand
So if my pokemon faints in a Mirror Challenge, I lose?
Correct, but keep in mind that you can still heal pokemon between battles, so even if your pokemon defeats their opponent with 1HP and a Bad Poison, you've still won, and can heal your pokemon up before taking on the next pokemon
What are my choices when I pick between the Halloween Items? Can I just grab eight of one of them?
You may pick and choose. So long as you don't exceed eight, you can get any combination of the items. Just be sure to note it in your next post after your battle has been approved, so that the mods know what you're claiming
What do you mean by "regular" potions for the Normal Challenge? Does that mean we can't use more than three healing items?
No, it just means you can't use more than 3 of the 'Unlimited' potions the guild gives you. That way, their unlimited status can't be abused, and a character must come prepared. You still get a free chance to completely heal all your pokemon after the first five, however, before taking on the last three.
Do the three "regular" potions apply to the whole event, or just each Normal Challenge?
It just applies to each Normal Challenge, so when you try it again, you get another 3 potions that you can use.
Okay, so... Now that I've chosen my Challenge, am I stuck with it? Or can I change my mind? What about next week?
Don't worry! If you start a challenge, and you've quoted a mod, but find that it's too difficult or you want to do the other, you're welcome to switch. However, you have to at least try and finish the Challenge you're doing. If you lose, and want to try the other, just quote a mod and inform them that you're trying the other challenge for prizes, and proceed accordingly. If you choose a Challenge one week, this does not lock you into doing it the next week, either; you can still choose from either one regardless of previous decisions
Do I have to go to the Haunted House in the region I'm in?
Nope, you can go to any of them : )
So... can we post for items that can be found where the Haunted Houses are located? Say, ones found in Eterna Forest for the one in Sinnoh?
You actually can! We weren't sure to fit that into the main info (but we're going to try to), but you can post for Area Specific items that are located where your Haunted House is in.
To clarify, that means that in Kanto's Haunted House, you can post for area specific items found in Lavender Town or Pokemon Tower
in Johto's Haunted House, you can post for area specific items found in Ecruteak or the Burned Tower
in Hoenn's, any items specific to Mt Pyre can be posted for
in Sinnoh, items specific to Old Chateau or Eterna Forest can be posted for
in Unova, those specific to Lentimas or Undella City
And in Kalos, items specific to Laverre or North Lumoise can be posted for while in the Haunted House.
If I'm doing the Mirror Challenge, do I have to go first? Can I let the NPC's go first for plot purposes?
Yeah, if you want :0 You're more than welcome to let the opponent go first, but know that you are under no obligation to do so in Mirror Challenge, and have the right of way to go first
What about Normal Challenge? What's the battle order on that?
The battle order is determined by normal means, which means that the higher level pokemon goes faster, and if the pokemon's levels are tied, you most roll for them
Do I get exp every time I battle the pokemon? Even if it's not for prizes?
Yes, you get exp for each pokemon you defeat. If this becomes abused we may have to change it, but for now, even if you don't complete the challenge, you do get the exp as you defeat the pokemon
Do I need to post three times in order to leave the Haunted House? Can I just get teleported there, roll for a prize, and leave?
Actually, yes. We don't want to force people to be there longer than they want, so if you want to pop in, 'Trick-Or-Treat', and then leave, you can. You may see some people doing the three post counters for it, but it isn't required, and you can leave after one post if you want : )
So if I complete my Challenge for the items, and I start the other one, do I have to finish it before I can start next week's challenge, if I don't complete it before the week ends?
No, you can just battle the pokemon and then stop when it becomes Monday, if you want, so that you can start either challenge for prizes. You cannot, however, continue it and have it be that week's 'challenge'.
So for instance you complete the Normal Challenge for prizes, and it's only Wednesday. You start the Mirror Challenge for the exp, but you don't finish it, and Monday comes around and the week resets. You can stop the Mirror Challenge, and then restart it for items, or stop it and start the normal challenge for items, but you cannot continue the Mirror challenge in the new week, and complete it for items.
The Challenge you complete for items must be started and completed between Monday and Sunday of that week
Sooo.... If I roll the exp reset, do I get to choose which pokemon I use it on? :D?
Actually, you do. We just ask that it be one of the pokemon in the active party at the time that the exp reset was rolled for
Is there a certain time by which I have to use the exp reset, then? Does it need to be immediate?
Not immediate, no, but we ask that you use it before the event ends. We'll be sure to mention this a few times as things start wrapping up, but please be sure to use it before the end of the event
Do I have to do the battles in order?
We prefer you do, particularly for the Normal Challenge, as it's fairly easy to manipulate it and abuse otherwise, however if you would like to use a different order for either challenge, please quote a mod and ask if your preferred order is okay in the questions and comments thread. We understand this wasn't stated too clearly, but for the remaining three weeks, please try and check with us so we at least know who's changing the order, and that the change his been O.K.ed. This is especially relevant for the Normal Challenge; we still request you inform us if you plan to do the Mirror Challenge out of order, but you do not need to have the order approved beforehand
I completed the challenge and got my prizes, then I started the other challenge for exp. It's the second week now, though, can I finish, or do I have to stop?
If you are in the midst of a battle from the first week, you may finish, but please do so by the end of Tuesday. We don't want too many people doing battles from week one too far into the second week-- it could get very confusing. We understand, though, and are fine with you finishing the battle so long as it is done before the end of Tuesday.
What if I'm battling for prizes? Can I still finish that? If I do, does it count as week one or week two?
That's a bit tricker, but yes, you may complete it for prizes. If you complete it before the end of Tuesday it will count as week one, and you will be allowed to battle again for prizes for week two, however, if you do not complete it before the end of Tuesday, it will count as week two. You may still complete it, but you will have missed week one.
If I started doing the second challenge for exp during week one, can I complete it now for prizes for week two?
No. If you begin a challenge for exp, you need to complete it for exp; however, you can also just stop the challenge, and start a new one for week two's prizes.
Please be sure to quote a mod for your battles, and ask if you have any questions. Over communication and clarification is better than under
Uhh.... are there healing stations at the Haunted Houses?
Yup. You may have noticed some people using them, but because there's so much battling going on, you have some creative liberty on there being a healing room, a Nurse Joy, or some other way to heal your pokemon at appropriate times
THIS WILL CONTINUE TO BE ADDED TO. FEEL FREE TO CHECK BACK IF ANY MORE QUESTIONS ARISE : )
