For the past few weeks there had been little to no rain. Rivers were lower than usual and plants were beginning to turn a yellow coloration. Surely every creature in the surrounding area was suffering in some way. For Wayra, he noticed it was more difficult to find water sources and the grass was more difficult to chew and digest. The sun was no help, either. Its heat only caused the dark colored stallion to sweat out some of the water he had worked so hard to find. Surely there would be more water soon… or at least the stallion hoped there would.
Recently, Wayra had stumbled across the kawanii village. At first, he would watch the strange creatures from a distance. As he grew bolder and more comfortable, he would travel closer to the village. Now, the dark colored stallion stood beneath a tree at the top of a small hill that overlooked the kawanii village. He tried to focus on the village and distract himself from the torturing heat of the sun. His gray eyes scanned the area as he tried to comprehend what he was watching. In the distance, he saw a group of the creatures that walked on two legs doing some sort of dance around a fire. Their voices echoed through the surrounding area and Wayra couldn’t help but wonder what they were saying.
During the past couple of months he had spent watching the creatures, Wayra had only allowed the smaller ones to approach him. They seemed innocent and were definitely no threat to him. In fact, Wayra trusted them enough to allow them to decorate his mane with feathers and beads that they had brought to him. Part of him hoped they would come out to play today, but highly doubted they would with the heat. Perhaps they would in the afternoon when the sun wasn’t as harsh as in the middle of the day. For now, he would simply watch and learn.
