After running into the horse and letting it run into someone else's pan, Megan decided it would be better to wander the woods for something to hunt, instead. At least, it hadn't attacked her out there just yet.
So she made her way down the hillside toward the hospital, making it almost to the gate before she encountered another monster.

The devourer sprung out at her from the shadows, presumably aiming to tackle her down. It managed to shove her hard into the wall before she raised her chain, runes glowing red against her blue. A second devourer coalesced from the shadows almost immediately and jumped onto the other, clawing and biting as she readied her shotgun and fired.

She was surprised at the behaviour, of course; she'd used the thing to "tether" a monster before, but never used it in combat. She only hoped she wouldn't have to fight the second one after this. The thrashing monsters moved so erratically, her second shot missed entirely.

Her "pet" was holding its own against their opponent, but after that embarrassing miss, she at least wanted to hit it again. Her third shot rang out, and then both monsters disappeared into a thick cloud of dust. She wasn't even sure if it actually hit.

Well, both of them were gone, so she took the opportunity to root around for anything useful.
