She heard him coming before she saw him, and pocketed her radio as she peeked over the hiding spot she'd found. It was too late to do anything other than gasp as he collided into her, sending them smashing into a car at the end of the alley and then eventually dropping to the ground beside it in a clump. She faced him and the car they'd hit, for a minute, before curling up so tightly she might as well have been a pillbug.
"Okay." It wasn't the right answer for what he'd said, but it was all she could manage in the wake of being smashed into, and hiding from an undead that could have still been following him for all she knew. She was scared, so very scared, and it was visible in her every tensed, curled up muscle. It was audible in her voice.
She couldn't think enough to say more than that one word. "Okay."
