"Incoming!"

There was a sound like sharp metal grinding against stone a few times, and from around the corner a death hunter stumbled out, a spindly spiderlike shadow of a creature chasing close behind him and the unconscious body he had draped over his back. He had a sawblade in his hand, glowing with runes, and cleaving into any errant hands the monster reached toward him.

There might have been a second one, but Ryan quickly saw to it, by driving its upturned head into the ground; crushing it's skull.

"Spiders just need one good smack."

Her attention was quickly diverted to a fellow hunter who came in with a timely attack, followed by Ryan shortly after, dealing a crushing blow to another of the damned spider like undying.

Unsummoning her weapons, Kat turned to face both boys, only to pause when taking note of who the other hunter was. "Er..uh..hmm." She had one encounter with him once before, and it was a bit on the creepy side. Something about experiments or the like? She couldn't recall. It had been well over two years ago, but it was enough to keep her wary around him. "U-uh, Lucky, right?"

Despite what may or may not have happened a few years ago, Kat was at least grateful for the aid in taking down some of these monstrosities. That was for certain.

Lucky was still panting, hands on his knees. He felt like he'd been running for as long as he'd been here. Long distance was not his thing. He looked over at Kat before he spoke, with a total lack of recognition.

"Uh. Yeah, how did you..." His hand moved from leg to chest, trying to steady his heartbeat somehow. Slowly, he was dragging himself back up to standing again, or at least semi-upright. Actually, if he heard someone mention the helicopter one more time... "Never mind. So who are... you two?"

"Yeah, I, uh," Lucky glanced at his own unconscious civilian with a perplexed look - the incident near the portal had caught him off guard. "I don't think he's going to be getting up again any time soon."

"Something went wrong, I think." It was probably the most obvious statement anyone could make about them all being stranded there with their unconscious-except-at-the-worst-possible-moment civilian cargo. The radio chattered at his hip. He didn't want to call sabotage so soon, but, well. It was impossible not to at least consider it. "Have you heard from anyone about the portals? First it threw me on a freeway, and by the time I got back, it, uh, it disappeared."

"You ran all the way?" There a mixture of shock and admiration, which was quickly replaced with a look of amusement. "Don't let Allan hear you mention that, he might just drag you into one of his training exercises." His muscles burned at the memory of one such time.

"I'm Ryan, by the way." He didn't bother with rank or division, as the previous didn't matter much, and the latter could easily be answered by looking at his coat. "As for the portals... My money is on Mark spilling beer on the keyboard again. Truthfully though?" He paused briefly and gave a light shrug. "I have no idea. My experience was not that different from you both described though. I imagine just about everyone else experienced much the same, judging by what I heard on the radio."
